Which tokens do you have? There are separate tokens to: open character slots; server transfers; unlock the tiered longevity awards, etc.

Well, I tried to get into CoH Freedom last night and set the location for my account and get access, only to get the following message:

"ACCOUNT NAME REDACTED has been permanently blocked."

I heard this has happened to quite a few people, so I'm investigating to see if I can get it fixed. I may call customer support.

Those missions can be tough. What server are you doing it on? I have 50's who can help on either Virtue or Pinnacle.

So with this now free we can go back to our old paid characters?

Or do we have to start new?

I'm on Freedom with almost all of my characters. I have just a few on Victory. The only 50 I have is ElectroGenX on Freedom.

And yes, you can play your old characters, but I don't know how it works when you have limited slots. Hopefully there's some initial choice about which toons are in the active slots.

As a prior subscriber who bought the game, you will always be at least a premium subscriber. See This Chart (Click the side-by-side comparison chart). I guess the number of characters slots you have will vary by your veteran rewards. It says however many you had previously unlocked or purchased - so I guess if you have a character it must be in a previously legal slot. So, I would hope that you would still have them all.

Looks like free "Freedom" players (not "premium") can't even send tells or join Super Groups. And the Incarnate stuff is only for VIP (subscriber) players.

I really hope so. The only one I want back is a Level 43 Robot/Dark Mastermind, who is on Pinnacle. I've got a level 50 Tanker there as well, but after he was "fixed" so he couldn't solo 40+ hostiles at once on the hardest difficulty I found him to be a little lackluster.

I can't believe I played this game for over 4 years and only hit 50 once.

I have a few in their 30s, but only the one 50. i just couldn't do the grind again. I'm trying to play as much of the story possible with my alts. My main preceded a lot of the current content.

See Texian's/Baelthezar's note above; Sounds like a lot of accounts are coming up this way and may not have been migrated yet. You will probably have to call customer service.

Or, maybe you just need to go into account management at NCsoft.

I logged into PlayNC and had no "banned" or other warnings showing on my account. When I get home tonight I'll try downloading the game client and logging in to see what I get.

Right now my PlayNC account has:

This is what i get too Daehawk. I hadn't played since 2009. It actually let me on briefly before blocking me, but since then nothing. You can't call technical support for being blocked, according to their recording, so you have to contact them via email or ticket. I've done both, but they seem to be rather slow. I'm in no rush, but I want this sorted to see CoH and get things ready for Guild Wars 2 next year.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't hacked, and that it is something having to do with migration of accounts on their end.

They are still working with me. They said some outside suspicious activity was why my full ncsoft account was locked. For my protection. I can't get into anything ncsoft. Even the game account is locked so I cant restart it till they fix my main.

And damn if they aren't slow. I get 1 email per day.

Ok got my account fixed but now when I start the game I get ......

We have detected missing or corrupt game files, please run the "Repair" option in NCsoft Launcher to fix this. The game will now exit.

But there is no 'repair' ability :)

I'm sorry for the rehash, but I'm confused. Where do I go for contact with the most OOers?

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

If you click "City of Heroes" once in the lancher (to highlight it), you will see the down triangle indicating the drop down. If you are not current you will have an update option. If you are current, it will have a repair (consistency check) option.

ALso it has a properties option, which you can use to launch it in safe mode (graphics) if you have problems.

In...no idea what Im doing. My contact has no quests...I have no quests...no idea where to go or how to get there. I see people talking about a sewer trial but dont know it.

I had issues with a bad config file when updating. I suggest that you exit the game and delete your config folder under

c:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\NCSoft\CoX

I couldn't get it to run out of safe mode until I did that. I had to reset all my UI arrangement but it was worth it.

Ok I think Im set now. Are the wanderers good guys?...my bad guy is named War Spite.......not sure on my good guy yet. think ill use my old Rockmsockmrobot..he is all melee. If I use both my slots do I have to delete one of my guys to use another or can I just un associate that character with that slot?....not sure how this 2 slot works. I double clicked my war spite guy and it asked to use a global slot. i said ok. Now though to play I have to click him then click next...ive not tried clicking another of my guys and clicking next.

Cool news is that I managed to use my unused new account key from last Christmas's Steam sale to upgrade my old CoV account to VIP status. Though it's still showing my old characters as locked. Maybe the account status hasn't updated? Or is the game really going to make a paying subscriber pay to do this?

VIP is $15 a month?

I was on a couple hours just now and kept broadcasting for any fellow OO'rs or the Wanderers but no one ever contacted me. Wanted to group up or get a guild invite. Still not sure if Wanderers or good or evil..i got both. Send me a invite...good = Rockmsockmrobot....evil= War Spite.

My wife and I are creating characters on Virtue, but haven't started playing yet. Haven't decided on alignment.

VIP is the same as the old subscription price. Still not sure all of what it entails. All my old characters are locked, even as a VIP. I think I have some free unlocks, but it's still annoying. Fortunately I don't think I'll be playing as any of them, none were very high level.

There are some nice costume additions in the character creator since the last time I played, but of course the coolest ones you have to pay for. Signing up for VIP gets you 400 points a month to play around with though, and individual pieces are 40-? points, so it may not be so bad if just a few catch your eye. Not sure what points translate to in dollars. Is it 100 = 1 dollar, as in most other games?

Anyway, the textures of the original costume pieces from when the game launched have aged poorly, and the customization sucks compared to Champions. But there are still a lot of options, you just have to be creative and lower your expectations. The creation interface is wonderfully improved, though. Finally, you can save created characters in progress! But this may have been implemented some time ago, I haven't played in 5 years.

Quite a few of the costume pieces which come up as locked in the creator can be unlocked through game play. Capes for instance can be acquired via a mission once you hit level 20 and then added to your character through the in game tailor. Other costume pieces can be found as recipes which are loot drops. Similiar to most of the new F2P you also recieve free shop credits if month if you subscribe for the $15 which you can then use to unlock new costume pieces.

There are two OO affiliated "guilds" The Wanderers is the hero side supergroup and the Drifters is the Villain side one. I have characters in both with invite priviledge just add @Neuromancer to your friends list and shoot me an email or send a tell when Im on for an invite. Im in most evenings.

I'm @ElectroGenX - I don't have a virtue toon yet, but will glady make one if new people are starting back with the Wanderes or the Drifters. Or I can transfer one if there is an active higher level group.
