Not the strongest episode but certainly subversive and witty enough to make almost all other sitcoms look shabby in comparison. I loved the running gag with Peirce making some idiotic observation and then whoever he was with looking at him and uttering, "uh oh".

Plus, any appearance of John Goodman as Vice Dean Laybourne is appreciated. I particularly liked his bright red pajamas he sported in Abed's pillow fort. And his constant admonishment that he was "going through some things".

They seem to be setting up a few ongoing plot points too, I noticed. I hope they don't over do it, but I trust the writers of Community to handle story arcs in a thoughtful and hilarious manner.

Apparently Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon are not the best of friends.

Quick version:
Chase walks off set on the last day of filming without filming a scene.
Dan Harmon curses Chase out in front of everyone at the wrap up party, including Chase's wife and daughter.
Chase storms out and then leaves this VM on Dan Harmon's phone (NSFW language!)

Hopefully it's nothing that will hurt the show's long term plans.

I am concerned that they are taking some of the characters to the extreme. Its true that Pierce was never the brightest bulb, but he is still an actual functioning person, seemingly capable of such a simple task as feeding himself. The latest crazy thing with the ink, its just too much.

And Abed, this season is showing him more and more divorced from reality, up to the point that he is a danger to himself by not understanding something like, 'this is a thing that costs money, and you can't afford it'.

I am concerned, the characters are losing dimensions, being reduced to stereotypes.

I had always heard that Chase was a bit of an a$$hole to work with, but was hoping that Harmon could get past that. It's sad to hear that's not the case after all. Although to be fair, I think Harmon airing his grievances during a public speech was kind of childish too.

If Chase starts to hurt the show though, I think they can get past the loss of Pierce. The great thing about an ensemble that talented is that everyone carries their own weight. I just hope that if they do feel they have to get rid of Chase, they don't attempt to slip the same character in as his replacement (different name, but still a retired person attending school and with no apparent filter for his thoughts).

Actually, scratch that. Just give Leonard some more air time.

I actually think that's a great idea. Put Leonard in Pierce's place as "the old guy". Seems like more of a natural fit anyway if you ask me, and I always considered Pierce to be the weakest character in the group.

While I said they could get by without Chase, I wholeheartedly disagree with the belief he's a weak character. See the D&D episode for a blinding example of Chase's greatness as Pierce.

"weakest" - they are all great IMO.

Still love the show, though the inconsistency is mildly annoying. Bad season opener episode, followed by one of the best episodes ever (IMO), then last week's which was weak (three total so far, right?)

I think Shirley is the weakest character, although Pierce is second in line. And I thought last week's episode was great.

I think that we're technically starting the last half of the third season, but otherwise, yes.

I think they should pull a "Darren", and keep the character, just played by a different actor. It's a gold mine of material for Abed!

They should totally get Bill Murray...

Thankfully Harmon isn't above apologizing.

The more I read on the situation, the more it looked as if both parties involved weren't well thought of or well behaved. I hope this indicates a change as I'd hate to see internecine warfare become the show's downfall.

I missed the first 10 minutes (will have to catch that online), but it was very good. Ken Burns meets modern communication technology.

This was a bad week to have a vote like that... this was the first Community episode that I honestly disliked. Just too much Abed weirdness. Not that I don't love Abed being Abed, but a whole episode in his virtual reality, with Annie? Ugh.

I think that might have been my favorite episode of Community ever. I am a huge L&O fan (the original show, the other two suck IMO) and they absolutely nailed it last night.

.2 percent behind now.

Yeah, i don't think it has an real impact beyond the vain hope that a tv exec sees it and starts to campaign hard for the show.

I doubt even that would happen given the low number of votes involved (relative to the kind they would need to actually get execs attention).
