I also think it's interesting how they've really expanded the scope from last season where it was mostly about Mags and the Bennett clan. Now you have Boyd, Limehouse and Quarles all circling like wolves. It is a pretty impressive narrative.

I didn't see the milkshake scene coming at all and whatever person is involved in styling Dickie's hair deserves some type of award.

What's funny is that this show has me rooting for Boyd in the "battle of the evils". His battle with Quarles is like a chess match. It's also interesting to see Quarles slowly becoming unhinged. The tension in his brief stand off with Givens in the bar was electrifying.

That scene was hilarious. The fact that an old lady crippled by stroke could think of a way to show her contempt and pull one over Raylan Givens was fantastic!

after Quarles speech to the runaway, I'm now leaning once again towards declaring him my favorite villain of this season. The writers are playing with my emotions, damn it.

They need more episodes with Art and Raylan in the field together. Art just cracks me up

I was going to say Art is the man, but then I realized they're ALL the man on this show. Hell, even the bartender Lindsey had some great lines ("He has his daddy's eyes...but an unfortunate nose.") and has used two fairly short scenes to become quite endearing. I's rare when I have to really think about it in order to find any weak characters...and I'm still thinking.

By the way, was it just me reading WAY too much into it, or did the bathroom hostage they released seem almost protective of Quarles?

Great episode. Things are quickly building to a confrontation where Boyd, Limehouse and Quarles are going to all meet and explode, while Raylan stands by and watches it all go down. The writing on this show is so great, so many funny quips by so many characters. Still loving it.

FYI, show has been renewed for a 4th season:

Gotta love this quote from the Graham Yost (he developed the show):

We get to keep doing a show that appeals to a wide demographic: people in Harlan, retired US Marshals, criminals (we honestly did hear that), and, most happily, our guide, our muse, Elmore Leonard

Yeah, Justified is like a holy grail for supporting character actors. Loved seeing the always intimidating Michael Ironside as one of the two hit men sent from Detroit to take out Quarles in last night's episode.

They brought everybody! Adam Arkin as the big Detroit bad (and who is no stranger to being the bad guy since he played one in a season of Sons of Anarchy), Tim and Rachel get some screen time and they rocked their parts, and I can watch a whole hour Art and Raylan sitting in a stakeout and shooting the shit.

And Boyd, Boyd, Boyd, you should have taken the $100,000 dead offer...

This season is really shaping up to be all about the bad guys. They could effectively write the finale with Raylen watching it all from the sidelines. Which might actually be cool if they did it right. Although after what Quarles did this week I have a felling Raylen will be going after him.

I thought the Wizard of Oz comments in front of Limehouse were pretty damn impressive -- clearly Raylan has a giant set on him (was that ever in doubt?). I'm not quite sure what's going to happen next week but I be it's going to be damn interesting.

I figured that the situation with Quarles in a trailer with a big bottle of oxy, a long chain and two oxy addicts would not end in Boyd's favor but didn't quite expect a scene from Platoon (or was it Cocoon? ) and a kimono all to the tune of REO Speedwagon.

Sigh... The scene/shot with Raylen sitting in the chair, waiting for Dickey. God bless the camera operator and editing crew  bunk, vapors, swoon. FWIW guys, shoes matter including sneakers. Have good foot wear, we notice. Nice fitting jeans, good shoes, posture, eye contact... very sexy.

OK, I'll stop.

While hunting around I found this "live chat" before season 3's premier. Please make sure you are caught up to season 3 first. Make sure you have time to watch, it's longer than 20 minutes AND seems to be on a continuous loop.

The whole scene with the arm was fantastic -- I can't wait for someone to make it an animated .gif. The look on Raylan's face as he's slowly turning...awesome. I was also surprised they immediately resolved the Boyd issue. Regardless, another awesome season for an awesome show.

Ah, the amount of win in that episode is amazing. Quarles' high pitched giggling as he yelled "It's a piggy bank!" had me laughing out loud. Raylen refusing to hand Quarles his arm hit me almost immediately after that. And the reveal about Arlo's true motives in the shooting was handled perfectly. A bittersweet ending to be sure.

The Kentucky standoff at the beginning with Raylan with two guns, a whole bunch of other folk with lots of guns, and Limehouse in an action pose with a cleaver was downright awesome! And the teetering salt shaker was just perfect.

But I was emotionally gutted when I realized at the end who was "the man with the hat".

And poor Wynn Duffy. I think having a law enforcement officer play russian roulette with him with cops just outside was the last straw for him. The look and reactions were well done.

Edit: Damn! From reading the Justified thread on the Television Without Pity site someone pointed out something I completely missed. Near the end Quarles takes Raylan's gun to which Raylan says that he'll want it back. Quarles then finds a gun Raylan had behind his back and takes that to which Raylan replies, "That one you can keep." Didn't pay much mind about it till someone pointed out that the gun was probably the one used by Quarles to shoot Gary a few episodes ago. Nicely played, Marshal!

Arlo has been one of my favorite characters on the show since season 1 because he's an irredeemable bastard. I was afraid at the beginning when he insinuated he'd come running to the crime scene because he thought Raylen had been shot that he was going soft...the ultimate reveal at the end though proved that the man is even more unlikeable than I thought.

I think Wynn Duffy would have won that one. I think he did a great job because usually his character is so understated and cool. It was funny watching him lose it for once.

Wow! Couldn't take my eyes off of his character or Tigg's. Seems like everyone had fun with it. We are hoping for commentary on that episode :)

Didn't notice Walt's name in the credits. Does that mean he didn't get paid or his ego is in check and doesn't want the recognition or is the omission some type of contract/union thing?
