I forgot just how much fun this game is. Controlling minions is a blast and upgrading the tower is cool. I really wish it had a map though. I could really use one for the areas i need to go to. I cant figure out where to get what usually and Im just starting. Also Im playing a nice guy...well pretty much. Just now gave the town of Spree it's food back. they love me.

EDIT: Ok the damn game needs a SAVE ANYWHERE...sigh sigh sigh sigh

I never did get around to beating this, but did get to a point where I had unlocked a ton of arena brawls and used those to re-equip my minions to get their fighting strength back up to a very high point before going out on missions.

It's a great game, and a lot of fun. I generally went with the "Nice Guy" route as well simply because conditioning in games has taught me over the years that being Good is generally rewarded better than being Bad.

I don't think it matters too much which way you go, but if you do decide to go one way or the other, you should go all the way. i.e. either kill none of the stupid peasants, or kill every single last one of the little dorks.

I've now found Rose and she has joined me at my tower. Like all women in my life though she is beautiful but pushy. :) I love how she talks about my minions.

Your minions do it. You have to sorta circle them around the thing you want them to pick up. Then call them back (foghorn) to make them drop it someplace. You can choose just one minion to do it btw.

Tried that and it never worked. I was really needing them to work in this one area so i had to dig till i found it. You have to target the item with your target key then click to have him pick it up..you then keep the target key held down as you guide him where to go...then let go and he plants it and runs...sometimes not fast enough :)

Can you guys recommend the best spots to farm minions? I've run totally out of all of them thanks to making armor and weps...plus deaths in battle. Im farming the browns at the very first spot but getting 15 at a time is taking a while. Also im just now at the desert area..not explored it so will have to be before that area. Thanks.

Im bad stuck now. im on the desert map. I hate it wit ha passion. I was ready to quit it but Im now right at the end. I was going around gathering treasure before doing the final thing and leaving but as I was walking in a small sized area i came up one of those bone walls you cant break. I turn around to go back and my damn minions have followed me carrying that big ass gold elf statue and I cant get around it. I cant get them to move it back and i cant move forward. So I cant see the bloody exit but I cant move now. WTF. It looks like I have plenty of room to go around but it still wont let me between it and a house.

Had to just teleport back to the tower and then go back...t oa reset village and play over.

Wow. That would be reaching back into the dusty archives.

I don't think there's a "good" place to farm anything except browns - the others are generally pretty rare.

I think I recall killing bugs of each variety in the arena for their souls (assuming Overlord I and not II). It's been so long ... the more I try to remember, the more I want to install the game again.

I really like this game except for the minion farming. In the beginning it was fun. I enjoyed getting souls for new minions. but here at the end game I find I spend over 30 min simply farming minion souls for the fights at the end. I am looking at at least an hour now for the final stuff. I've just gotten to where i fight the huge boss then have to get all the stuff back then finish it. So it will possibly take me more than twice as long as it should.

But Im looking forward to being done and starting pt 2 :)

I've started Overlord 2 now. I've not played far...just to Sanctuary Cave but I think it's going to be better than the first one even. I kinda wish it had let me be a kid longer there in the beginning. Maybe causing havoc in town or sneaking and doing stuff.

I enjoyed both Overlord games but the second one has a couple incredibly tedious section right at the end. They are basically timed puzzles and if your timing is off even a little you have to start over and redo the whole section. Would still love to see a third game in the series though.

Interesting fact: The Overlord storyline and dialogue is written by Terry Pratchett’s (Discworld) daughter.

If you're talking Overlord 1, farm at the arena. Just queue up the appropriate bug type for the minion you want, and take in nothing but greens and blues. Then put all the minions on guard position in away from the bugs, and let the greens get big. Then just kite groups of bugs in a few at a time.

You can easily farm a couple hundred souls in 15 or 20 minutes this way.

Never did think of the arena thing.

Pt 2 is still a lot of fun. It feels a little as if my minions are a tad more stupid this time. A lot of times Ill send them in but they'll fail to destroy baskets and boxes that are right in front of them and Ill have to walk over and do it. Also they fail to go in houses sometimes.

I'd also use the arena to equip my minions. Kill a boatload of halflings and take their gear. Kill a few cooks and take their hats and knives. Kill some ogres and steal their noserings. Kill a lot of zombies and use their arms as clubs.

Ive now found one of those annoying parts. Its getting the blues. I got way into..doing puzzle after puzzle..only to die and it starts me bacjk outside as if ive done none of it..after 30 minutes of work. got so mad i just shut it down. Isn't like I dont have better things to do. I need a save anywhere..or a better checkpoint system. at least save where i died and let me start there or close to it.

I've lost my first mistress. Was it Kelda? The redhead. I replaced her with juno for a bit but I wanted to switch back and buy some tower upgrades for each. but when I go to my room where they should both be standing only Juno is there walking back and forth. I can't find the other anywhere in that whole area.

It’s been a while but if I recall there is a jail cell/tower somewhere in your fortress not far away. You should be able to find her there.

Ya fixed that. i could see in there and nothing was there and the gate never opened. I reloaded the game and it worked.

But now i killed the Fay queen by accident. i wanted her alive. Is there a way to redo that part? I exited without saving but I think it auto saved. My last personal save was a VERY long time ago.

I dont see myself completing O2. It's not as good a game as the first one. The minions control is worse, they dont work well, the timed puzzles are lame, the puzzles are bad anyways, theres no save points where they should be, and when an area has many pieces of it blocked off and you have to wait till a enemy tosses a bomb at you tyhen run it to the right spot to get through is bad enough but then to clear those enemies only to find you missed a wall and are stuck and have to retstart the whole area...NO THNX.
