I logged back into my Char Guardian who was sitting in the same spot I left him. I had that 'what the hell do I do next?' thought that happens after picking up a game after a few weeks.

All of a sudden I got an alert, a new event, right there! Masses of tar blobbies appeared and I waded into the middle of the largest batch with my 2 handed greatsword hacking left and right. I hit Whirlwind, spinning that greatsword around in a massive arc, striking down blobbies...until I was immediately killed.....BUT then someone revived me and I waded back into the fray....

I love this game

Logged in for a few minutes, but decided not to play a bunch because:

A) I couldn't stand the thought of playing an hour then having it ripped away from me again.

B) I really don't want to even slightly risk getting burned out on beta gameplay.

That said, I had no lag whatsoever. Game ran silky smooth, even when fighting a colossal boar with around 20 other people.

The only issues we ran into were when trying to load a particular instance for Miltonite's character. 4 times it took forever to load and just hung up around 95%. After that we just forget it and went kill stuff, and enjoyed doing so.

Don't forget running the executable with (space)-image so it would look like "C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -image is a good thing to do from time to time and especially right before a beta.

For those of you who do not know, it pulls all the files that it would normally download while playing. It opens the window, downloads all the files then closes.
I need more help than you can offer.

So the game downloads the little you need to play and then continues to download info while you are playing. Well if you put the "-image" after the .exe on your shortcut target it will open the client, download everything that will eventually be on your system then close the client. So if you have a shortcut the target should read "C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe". Change that to "C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe" -image, then run it.

Or you can just copy and paste it into your run box or search box and it will run. Go ahead and give it a shot, it will not kill your PC I promise.

Basically that command downloads the entire game instead of the game downloading the bits you need as you go. Overall it's faster just to load the whole thing one time.

Just read this new interview

It's generally crap as inteviews go but it does include this little gem:
What are your plans for the WvW content of the game in the long run?

One of the coolest things that we’ve added to WvW recently is a persistent mini-dungeon that can be accessed through the three keeps in the center map. This area is designed with multiplayer PvP in mind and players can do things like activate the traps in the mini-dungeon to defeat enemy players. Of course, at the end of the area there’s a chest full of rewards.

We also have some exciting plans for WvW post-launch, but of course we don’t want to talk about our post-launch plans until after we ship the game and have had some time to implement things.

I find this extremely interesting and it sounds insanely fun. WvW seems like the end game content in an MMO I've been looking for.

Woohoo!! Next beta weekend announced!!

Starts June 8th. Characters carry over from previous events. Some keys will be available from various ANet partners for those that haven't pre-purchased.

The tone of the blog actually sounds to me like it may be released sooner than later if this next event goes well.

No word on that in the article. I haven't seen anything to indicate that on the GW2Guru forums either.

No.

If you take the afternoon off, you increase the odds that the next beta will launch with crippling server issues. If you take the afternoon off, you will spend it entering your password, over and over, in a futile attempt to log in.

If you don't take the afternoon off, everything will launch smoothly.

lol
It has to be smoother than last Beta Weekend so I don't think it's a bad idea if you want to play the game some more.

Amazon US is now providing access to all remaining BWEs and the 3 day headstart as pre-order bonuses. Yes, that's pre-order not pre-purchase. This just happened. I can verify that this is the case because I pre-ordered it and was able to register GW2 with the beta key provided, link to my GW1 account, access the GW2 beta forum and download the beta client from my account page.

Not sure if this indicates they are closeer to release than thought or that it is further away than thought. I can make arguments either way.

Man, I'm so undecided about whether I want this at launch or not. I should probably wait and see if it really is the bee's knees whenever it comes out.

I knew at beta that I would hate SWTOR. I know at beta that I will love GW2. For what that's worth :)

Try to get a beta key using the Amazon pre-order. No commitment and you can try out the game.

Man... I wish I had waited and not gone direct!

That being said, after last beta weekend, I don't regret my purchase. It looks like it is going to be a fairly fun game!

When are the beta weekends? I usually see the gf on weekends, so most of the time, beta weekends are lost on me. Maybe if they ran some of these things during the week, I'd get to try.

Well there just so happens to be one starting this Friday! They don't tell us when they are until about a week out from them, or at least that has been the case thus far, and they are only on weekends (the stress test was on a monday though).

Yeah I had it run the update in the background last night, didn't see how big it was as I was playing CiV at the time. I saw it was pretty big, I'm expecting a huge overhaul of they system with that large of a patch (last install was about 13gb so 1/4 the whole game)

That's from the ArenaNet GW2 reddit AMA that's going on right now. This at least gives us some clue about potential release time frames. I think this means that the earliest it can now be released is August sometime. My bet is that it releases in early September if the following BWE does well. Right after labor day.

Well then I don't hate you either. Can we agree that ColdSteel has it worse, he is able to play but the servers won't let him. So he is being taunted by the avatar of Lyssa.
