Is this like Indie weekend or something? A TON of indie games or indie-ish games are on sale, like Introversion's games and others.

It's because of the Because We May sale. Some pretty good deals. Worth checking out the website, not all the sales are available on Steam.

I would recommend Alice if you care more about art, atmosphere and story than gameplay. The art direction is amazing in places and rides the line between uncomfortable and disturbing. Gameplay is completely mundane however; the best thing I can say about it is it’s rarely frustrating and has a breezy pace which lets you enjoy the rest of the game.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I was only 2 years old when the first Space Quest was released (according to Wikipedia that was 1986).

Holy crap. Watching that first video on Steam for Saint's Row (I have never paid attention to this series before now)...is that all cinematic fillers or actual gameplay? There's no HUD or anything like that, so assuming cinematics? The face of that bouncer...my god...probably the most realistic game graphics I have yet seen. Amazing.

I guess given the genre, playing the first two are not required or suggested?

Not at all. I played maybe 30 minutes of the first game before losing interest and completely skipped the second one. If you go to the console forum and look for the thread, there are some spoiler free impressions, but suffice to say I had a blast with the game. It's just absurd fun - check your brain at the door and enjoy the ride. Just make sure there's no kids around when you're playing. :)

By the time I am able to sit down in front of my home computer for some game time, my brain has long been retired for the evening.

Wonder how the console to PC conversion is though...some are horrendous.

EDIT: ahhh fuckit. Imma get it anyway. Can't believe I didn't pick up Arkham City for pennies recently due to backlog...morals, and now I'm buying this?! I am truly lost.

The conversion is fine EXCEPT there was/is a terrible bug where the sound was lagging on certain machines. Mine being one of them. Some guy that's obviously way smarter then me posted a program he created that fixes it. After I installed that I've had zero problems.

The AI in the game isn't exactly the greatest, but the missions are soooooo much fun. Also the customization in the game is great. You can build some truly crazy characters. And I've actually found myself enjoying that I can pimp my ride. I spent a half hour tricking out a car. Since you can always grab it back in your garage it's not a waste like in GTA. FYI I'm playing with a gamepad (PS3 controller that I emulate as a 360 controller) zero issues getting that working.

From Armchair Empire:

"I have to cop to the fact some of my PC Master Race tendencies have started to creep back into my opinion on games. Case in point: Saints Row: The Third. Not only is it hands-down better looking than the console versions, but the mouse and keyboard combination allow for much more precise gameplay, aside from the vehicle handling an analog controller offers."

Well, duh! :D The precise control is EXACTLY why I prefer these types of games on PC over my PS3. Why else would I choose to play it sitting in front of a 24" screen vs a 58" screen? :)

I do it because it's easier to jump on the computer then steal the tv from the wife. I strongly dislike GTA type games with a mouse and keyboard, but I'm probably odd in that regard. I also played Skyrim and Fallout 3 with the controller.

Two for two. We have a 42 incher in the living room, and that's it. Of course, we also have one laptop per person, including one for the 3yo, if you count the iPad.
