[Game] Who knows if this will work...

Postby MHS » Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:11 pm

If you're familiar with the game "Eat Poop, You Cat," I'm trying to create a version of that here.

Brian is going to post a sentence, in spoilers. I will use paint (next person to draw can use whatever you have) to draw a visual interpretation of the sentence, and then post that, in spoilers. The next person will write a sentence saying what they see in the drawing, in spoilers. Each person can only look at the spoiler that immediately precedes what they will be doing, no looking at spoilers that came above that, so if you plan to play, wait until you're ready to go and then only read the most recent spoiler. People may want to call that they'll go next to avoid issues. Once you've drawn or made a sentence, you can't again until that round is done. Next person draws that, next person writes...like the game telephone but with drawings and interpretations. We stop after a set number of turns, like 12 or so, and go back and look at how people interpreted things, and hopefully laugh a lot, and then start with a new sentence.

I can see there being problems with two+ people posting at once. I'm sure there are other problems I haven't anticipated. But I'm really bored, so I'm hoping it'll catch on. I've pre-asked my brother to post a sentence for me to draw so that hopefully it will sort of make sense.

Should I post this here or in the Forum Games forum?

Since it's open to anyone's participation, forum "rules" cover that it stays here. Forum Games is reserved for ones with a set player base to start. Contrast "Name that Movie" to Werewolf games.

I think as each new progression is posted somebody should "Call" their turn if they want to do the next one.

That way we avoid multiple postings.

So right now, nobody should be looking at the drawing MHS did. First somebody should post that they will take the turn (First come, first served) and then look at it and describe the picture (in a spoiler) and then whoever wants to take their turn can proceed to draw a picture from that description.

And so on...
"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!"

My advice, don't overthink. Say what you see. Draw what you read. Some people will be very literal, some people will be less so and the combination can make for some awesome laughs.

And now someone who has read none of the other spoilers should look at Ralph Wiggum's sentence and post a spoilered drawing of what he's said. (I promise to quit spelling out each turn once people get the hang of it)

The problem is I was too specific in my sentence. It would work better with a little more flexibility and generality.

There's a learning curve to it. It's easier on paper with everyone sitting in the room, passing the papers around. We've had some gut-busting, tears rolling times playing this but I'm not sure how well it will translate to this medium. But I'm bored, so it's worth a shot.

Yeah it's funny because in Draw Something, I always use blonde for girls and brown for boys unless it's someone specific or related to the word. Odd.
