OO Yesterday........And Today

Postby tgb » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:12 am

So there have been a couple of threads where we've posted pictures of ourselves, but on Saturday I received a photo from an old friend. I've known Paul since 1st or 2nd grade, and he found this photo taken of the two of us when we were 8 or 9 (apparently having just joined the Nation of Islam). So I thought it might be fun to post childhood and current photos side by side. That would be me on the right, btw.

The top is me on the first day of Preschool.
The second is me meeting a penguin and her trainer at the Shedd Aquarium. I'm wearing a name tag so the penguin knows I'm a visitor.
Also, we were told not to get too close to the penguin for the picture in case it decided to bite.
You will notice that in both pictures I do not know how to smile, nor have I aged much.

I don't have any digital childhood photos. Come to think of it, I don't have any prints, either. My parents filled many albums but I don't know what ever happened to them. My sister probably has them. She's into all that family stuff.

All kids look pretty much alike anyway, so just imagine a generic skinny blonde boy with glasses.

You never truly can understand just how freakin' big Penn is until you meet him in real life. I have a photo from Vegas of a huge crowd being greeted by him after a show...and he towers over everyone in that photo.

Not that it would matter now since I cut it all off some time ago and donated it to Locks of Love.

Missed this the other day.

There are two, both from the wife from way before we were married.

One is a white and yellow gold band (striped, yellow in the middle, white on the outside) with a small diamond set in it, maybe 1/4 carat. It's hard to explain but I really like it. It was a custom design she did with a family jewler from the old country. Understated and it has a great weight to it. The other is just a tungsten ring she got me while she was out of town for an extended trip.

The gold one has been with me for a long time (with all the pits and dings to show for it) so we decided not to get wedding rings and I just kept that. I didn't want to get it cut and resized for a different finger so it stays on the middle one. She never wears rings so we got her some nice pendants.

BTW, can someone photoshop Louis Farrakhan into TGB's childhood photo above?

No super biggie at all :) I should of used the quote in my post to draw your eye/get your attention but I wanted the request to be casual.

Thanks for the explanation. Some people look comfortable with (or in) their clothes or accessories and I'm intrigued why. There is usually some type of personal story behind it and figured asking and hearing why only makes the match or comfort level stronger.

Funny cause I just pulled off my rings and will go without for a bit and reassess my collection and reapply rings to different fingers later today. Mine are simple silver ones without any stones. LOVE the stones and gems in them but I don't want to be bothered with taking them off for showering, so I opt for the sterling ones without stones. I do have my engagement ring, which has a diamond held secure making it the exception.

Anyways...
