[Fixed!] Netflix WILL.....NOT......LOAD....

So I just recently signed back up for Netflix instant streaming due to the large number of kids' shows they have.

Tried to get it running on my new PC tonight and I can't get it to load for anything in the world. It will either get stuck at 98%, or it will finish loading and go to a black screen and just sit there. This happens in IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

I've Googled the issue and I've tried all the standard fixes. Uninstalling Silverlight. Uninstalling Silverlight and deleting the Silverlight directory and registry keys. Nothing works.

I've run malware scans and they come back clean. I've disabled firewalls, I've disabled security essentials. I've reset IE settings. This is driving me f---ing INSANE.

I seem to remember having this issue on my old Windows 7 64-bit PC, but can't remember how I fixed it.

Are you sure it's not a temporary problem on Netflix's end? That happens sometimes.

Does it work on your other devices? Xbox, PS3, lots of set top devices, wifi on the phone...

FWIW, I have Win7 64bit and it runs fine. Never did any tweaking. I think I've only used Chrome.

Doesn't appear to be, as it's doing the same thing today. And it streamed fine to my iPad last night. Maddening.

Might be really basic so sorry if you already did this, but did you reset your router and modem (powercycle) and completely clear your browsers' cache?

Yeah, I did the router reboot and the whole nine yards. I don't think it is a browser issue because it does the same thing through Windows Media Center (which, like the browsers, is also powered by Silverlight). But reinstalling Silverlight doesn't fix the issue, and I can play non-Netflix Silverlight content just fine (for example, going out to the Silverlight page and clicking on demos)! :grund:

Thanks Lawbeef, but that didn't work either.

I recall this happening on my old Vista PC and I only got it working by completely formatting and starting over. I'd sooner cancel my Netflix subscription than go through that again.

Got it working!

I downloaded SuperAntiSpyware, which is an anti-malware program I've used in the past to rid myself of the nastier bugs Malwarebytes couldn't catch.

While it didn't find any malware, it did do a much more thorough job of cleaning out my cookies/tracking items/cache. Something in there was obviously causing my hangups, because after I deleted all that crap Netflix suddenly started working like a champ across all browsers. Strange.

So, if anyone else ever has the problem, simply emptying your temp internet files from within the browsers themselves may not be enough.
