Based on the current tick sales, I'll not be able to make profit. 24 hours revenue minus the upkeep is less than 64000. So I am really losing money because I don't have enough leftover to restock.

I think the import and sell model is tougher now.

I went with importing just a min amount and went right to producing and selling retail.

Slow going but my little Dairy is profitable so far.

It does seem tougher to import and sell. Its making my start sort of rough until I can churn out some product.

I am at seven produced products. If there was artificial vanilla available I could produce nine. I sill have an open factory slot and two retails so I am expanding on what I have until I need to use them. Not making a lot, but have a positive cashflow which IMHO is crucial in the early game. My costs were almost $500k last night so am trying to maintain $600k+

Yea, I bought just enough water to get one. Only needed to be like $6000, so some are stupid easy. Of course the rewards aren't awesome but you have to start somewhere. Also now is when you have low q items that many of them are only worthwhile when your q is crap.

I am at 7 produced as well. For one of them, I have to buy/import a raw material to complete it. That is my biggest challenge at the moment. I can actually go to 8 products, I just need to get a consistent supply of the raw material first.

I'm going try the utilities game though if there aren't that many players it's probably doomed to failure. We'll see what happens.

Of course, with the current demand models, I have no idea how long that will last. It's been everywhere from 11k-21k/tick today and I haven't changed the products stocked at all.

Doing a little over $25 now, I have only borrowed $11k in addition to the initial $4M. Will be spending all my cash before rollover tonight. Now that I know I am solvent it is time to crank up the growth machine. Looking forward to the beta tester bonus so I can start looking at enough products to fill two store types.

Impressive. I guess I'm just doing it wrong as my networth is still less than my loan, so there's no way I can borrow more. Ah well - growing at a snail's pace is still growing.

Spend all your money before rollover. It costs you a 5% fee but it will always loan you what you need to pay the days costs. Should be about $500k a day early on.

Sadly, that requires me to be awake at 2am. Since I'm usually in bed by 8pm, this leads enough of a build up that I always end up paying the full amount for my S/M/I. Kind of a bummer.

Utilities weren't the way to go. Either RJ is going to supplement them or people are only ever going to b2b a serious amount of extras. People selling at 1.3 profit just doesn't make sense to me when overhead is so high. I'm currently over 5 Mil in debt for a company that's worth under 900k. But the good news is that I don't have to babysit. I'll continue to accumulate debt and lose value until my company implodes. It will be interesting to see how long it takes. After that I'll probably check out again. Not that there's anything wrong with the game. I like the format much better now for what it is. I'm just not in a position to coddle a companies growth all day long every day.

I started a company and played for a few days, then lost interest. There's nothing wrong with the game design -- I enjoy the early bootstrap process more than running an established conglomerate. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for it. It felt like a chore. Maybe I'll restart again later.

I was worried about that. I tried to do the utilities game but I was losing about 200k a day while still having a hard time selling my wares and I got out. I assume other electric providers finally did the same thing. (providers who were insisting at selling at .11 a unit or less. Electricity that cost $.05 or more make was going for $.08 and to sell 1,000,000 a day requires a 100,000k per day infrastructure easy)

When I go to buy electric and it's not there I'll probably just retire. Four false starts is just too many.

I've checked every few minutes. It must have come and gone almost instantly. And that's the problem. 10 cent electricity wasn't worth selling. Right now the only reason to sell it is out of charity of over production for your own internal use.

For those not producing their own Electricity, I would imagine Scott will have the computer throw some up at a substantial markup. I doubt he'll just let the game die.

Fair enough.

Does anyone want a company on Ratjoy? One free factory space (purchased but empty) 2B in cash and a market value of 9B. It is private, so I could either make you manager or I could take it public, drive down the price, and you could buy a controlling share.

Ah well. I give him props for getting as far as he did. Who hasn't come up with game ideas and even done some design work but never made it to a prototype, let alone production. The game had its moments.

It hasn't changed much. There's no stock market. I get messages from other players every once in a while.

I'm running an auto company as a main, with support behind it (metal company (steel), petrochem (rubber, arti leather), and mining). I just started jewelry, but I'm not sure how well that's going to go. margins aren't as good as I had expected, but it's a useful downstream to pair with my mining operation.

I don't know if it would appeal to anyone, but there is a new stand alone expansion for Capitalism 2. The developers are going to keep developing assuming decent sales. However it does have always on DRM.

I'm surprised the game discussed in this thread is still going. Did the developer ever come back?
