Reckless Racing 2 on sale for .99 and it is awesome!

Hey space, if i'm not on your friend's list, add me. I'd love to play MtG sometime. It's lilhepcat in gamecenter.

Summoner Wars should be releasing soon. I'm anxiously waiting on that one as the card game is a favorite of mine.

I've gone through the tutorial and started a campaign game. The only thing I'm having issues wrapping my mind around is the timing mechanic.

It is a little annoying that I have to manually pause to take actions during combat. I think it should autopause after blockers are assigned.

OK, Reckless Racing 2 is going on my short list of most highly recommended iPad games.

It's got it all:
1. An overhead/chase cam perspective, which I think works better for an iPad type format
2. Incredible physics
3. Incredibly sharp and detailed graphics (maybe the best looking app I have seen so far, graphics-wise)
4. Fun as hell, and has that "just one more race" draw
5. Auto adjusting difficulty level! If you win too much, it ramps up the difficulty...lose a lot...and it takes it down a notch.

Even though it's a universal app, it can be slightly frustrating on the iPhone as it's a lot easier to hit or not hit buttons, but that didn't keep me from playing it non-stop as my wife was shopping at the mall today.

I've already played like 10 hours. I found the 'encounters' amusing. One of the encounters is a deck made solely of these things:

Image

It took around 20 tries for my green deck to beat that bastard.

Turn 3: Summon 1/1
Turn 4: Summon 2/2, attack for 2
Turn 5: Summon 3/3, attack for 8
Turn 6: Summon 4/4, attack for 24
Turn 7: Summon 5/5, attack for 56, 48 of it trample...

Ugh!

I was HOLY SHIT IT'S NICOL BOLAS! Awesome!

On the first turn, he played a motherfucking Mox Jet. I about crapped my pants.

There's some fucking amazing green spells now. It almost makes me want to buy some cards. Almost.

Yesterday, I finally started the Planeschaser variant. It's hilarious. I had a game where I at less than 5 life, one person was dead, the other green player had like 15 huge creatures, and the white player had 250 life. I won. The Planeschaser deck is really powerful, and chaotic.

Tower defense aficionados: check out Toy Defense (free or a paid version with more maps). Plastic green army men theme, with upgradeable units on field, as well as a kind of tech tree that unlocks new abilities when you get enough cash/points.

Surprisingly good, fun TD. Very hard for me after the first page of levels, so I may have to go back and accrue more upgrade points by starting over and dominating the maps now that I know what I am doing. There are options to buy more points, but I have not felt the need to do that yet (and probably wouldn't...I hate that model, and would much prefer to pay a fixed price up front, than have game balance built around in game purchases).

If I knew the paid version got rid of the in game purchases, (and would adjust the difficulty accordingly) I would definitely buy this one, but I think the only difference is it just adds new maps.

One of the best TD's I have played on iPad so far (Kingdom Rush by far the winner here).

Did you know they added a couple of maps not too long ago, as well as the ability to use heroes?

But yeah, that will be a day one purchase whenever Kingdom Rush 2 hits. And I am never that guy.

Yeah, but the new maps are all part of the ultra hard mode that sees you taking on impossibly huge waves at some point. I want a full campaign that ramps up gradually. I think I sunk more hours into that and the Evil Dead TD than any other games on my iPad.

I dunno...I think those two "bonus" maps are about right in terms of difficulty (as long as you have all points available), which is "freakishly hard", since I struggled mightily with some of the regular maps (not the first level ones, but the ones that limited towers, or "one monster escapes = game over").

I beat one of the bonus maps, but I think I still need to try again on that other one (the one where the Ents come out of the woodwork, as well as the beasties coming out of the swamp). I have tried using all the heroes, and none (to max out points), but to no avail. On the difficulty scale, it is way, way up there.

It's not technically an iPad game since it's only available on iPhone right now, but I'm having a blast with Fieldrunners 2. It actually blows up quite nicely on the iPad, so if you don't want to wait for the HD version don't hesitate to grab it. Well worth the $3 so far.

I never played the original Fieldrunners, but apparently this one improves upon the first in many ways. Quite challenging so far and a ton of content if you try to 3-star each level.

The first two Chaos Rings are on sale today ($4.99 and $5.99 - normally about $10 more) for those who like Japanese RPG's. Highly reviewed and rated, and they were on my wish list, but I have never played them.

They added Japanese voices in the latest update, which more than doubled the size of the game FWIW.

Also, just realized they have the Walking Dead episodic adventures for iPad - cool! I played both of the available Broken Sword adventures on my iPad, and it was a great experience. Good platform for that genre IMO.

I don't have my iPad here with me, so not sure which version I bought, but I have one of them. Does FR2 have 100 waves of beasties/enemies at a time?

Wow, plethora of sales on top titles this week. I've been waiting on the Civ Rev version for iPad to drop for a long time (I have it on the iPhone, but doesn't lend itself well to such a small screen IMO)

Highly rated Lost Winds 2 (platformer with spectacular artwork) is also .99

I have been playing a little Shell Raiser. Kinda' a fun shooter. I have just been playing on easy to avoid wanting to spend on any extra coins or whatever in-ap stuff they have. Could probably step up to medium though - no temptation to purchase extra upgrade cash.

Oh yeah. It's a side scrolling shooter. You pile weapons on the back of a turtle and shoot enemies as you approach them. The controls work very well. Left finger on the weapon you want to shoot, right on the target. You can easily work two weapons with the left as they share the right hand target. Also there are items. Also the artwork is fun.

You have to be ok with losing. You do a quick run, get as far as you can go, try to beat some objectives, get money/stone/wood/experience to unlock better goodies.

At first it just seems frustrating but once you get eyes for the board (as you need to for any match 3 game) then you start to realize "hey - armored foes take more magic damage than swords would do" and little things like that really open the game up. As you level up you'll survive longer.

Another thing - it always puts you at the highest level dungeon you have access to - you can select the previous ones take make it easier until you get a feel for the board.

I wouldn't feel too bad. It only took me 5-6 hours to beat, and I'm tempted to erase my progress so I can start over again.

Now you can unlock things in a more efficient order than you did last time. ;)

I just beat it too - and I was like 5.5 hours total according to the game. What a great game. I think the length was about right. I was starting to tire of it by then. Good point to put it down, maybe I'll reinstall it at some point and run through again.

It said it unlocked "endless mode" - I don't see where that is. The game is kind of always endless - isn't it? Or did that last dungeon have an end I never saw?

Hi hentzau,

The developer of this game's a friend of mine. Have you got vague repro steps for what you did so I can pass them on or is this the result of a problem with iOS?

As for endless mode, that just means you can keep playing if you want :)

He's planning on adding some more content and a challenge mode in the future, for when you've hit 10000000 mark, but he's not had any time to start on it yet.

Hey there! Thanks for chiming in.

I really have no idea what happened. I was enjoying the game, and it was on my phone before I plugged it in and synced it for the night. Next morning, it was gone (and that was the only app that was missing.) I was able to re-install it, but all of my saved data was gone. I will say this was the first time I synced the phone since installing the game, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Thanks!

So 1000000 sounds a but like Puzzle Quest - is that a fair comparison?
