BG II against MoO was a tough one, while I played both for too many hours I don't think either actually belong near the best of the best. Aside from at least the rest of my picks are strong. Each of these games have good memories and hours logged too countless to think about.
Wasn't TIE Fighter the surprise win the last time we did this? (I finally went to go buy that "cheap" $30 Sidewinder from best buy a couple months ago and was going to be up for the challenge of trying to get TIE Fighter to work on Windows 7 x64 but no one near me had one in stock. The impulse buy passed, for now.)
I must be in the vast minority, because I enjoyed X-Wing much more than Tie Fighter. Loved them both, don't get me wrong, but X-Wing for me personally was much more fun for some reason.

XWing was more fun of a simulation, wherein you got to blow up the DeathStar
TIE Fighter was more fun outside of the simulation, where you got to collect tattoos. For reasons I can't explain the tattoos won over blowing up the deathstar.

I agree. I think this is mostly because I enjoyed the flavor of playing as the rebellion more than playing as the Empire.

No, TIE Fighter has not previously won one of our tournaments, nor has it gotten this far I think. It did make it to the Elite Eight in our last tournament. Our past winners are X-COM, Fallout, Baldur's Gate II, Planescape Torment, and Civ 4.
TIE Fighter did earn the #1 position in one of PC Gamer's Best Games of All Time lists. That was definitely a surprise.
