Since the games are also on Steam, even if they required Uplay to launch, they could still give Steam keys. I hate when Telltale, EA, and Ubi have the third-party sellers offer only proprietary keys instead of Steam keys.

They learned it from Valve.

Except that they each only sell, and therefore the client only allows management of, their own games. And buying an Ubi game from Steam means you get a Uplay key, but not the other way around. So no.

Oh, so I can go on Steam and buy a copy of Portal that uses Origin instead of Steamworks? No? Can I go anywhere and buy a copy of (PC) Portal that doesn't use Steam? Have there ever been any Valve games sold through Humble that have offered keys to any other service besides Steam?

That's A-Okay though, right? But when Ubisoft wants their games to go through their service that's Completely Different.

And while I don't use Uplay, a cursory search of their storefront brings up Valve games as well as Electronic Arts titles (I would imagine with Steam and Origin keys respectively), so I'm not sure what you mean by "only selling their own games".

1) I actually am not interested in this argument so you win by default. I don't care enough.

2) If I'm wrong about Uplay selling only Ubi titles, AND I could manage almost my entire collection of 5000 games through Uplay, I spoke without being informed but can find another reason to hate Uplay. Like Heroes 6 "social" integration.

3) My point was I like Steam keys, which 95% of the time is what Humble sells. Feel free to not care.

Humble Store is doing a winter sale, including a build your own bundle. Looks like the specials may change daily, based on the calendar up top.

That page keeps loading wrong, with tons of non-Double Fine games continuing down the page. There aren't other BYO deals besides Double Fine right now, are there?

I threw a few in the cart to try it, and only one showed as crediting toward the BYO bundle.

The current weekly bundle is a lot of games for $15, but I have most of them, so I'm not buying it unless someone wants the following deal.

If you pay me $5 worth of Steam gifted games (my choice) or cards (your choice), I'll buy the $15 tier and give you the following keys:

Mars: War Logs
Space Run
Pix the Cat
Yesterday
Final Exam
Contrast
Game of Thrones
Cities XL Platinum
Of Orcs and Men

Okay, since there are no takers, and I like to make deals, for the same deal I'll now throw in my Alien Isolation key that is already unlocked for the Humble Monthly coming Friday (which incidentally means I've bought that game three times now). That ought to be enticing enough for someone.

Your arrangement is likely worth it for the Game of Thrones TT game alone. I'm amazed you can't find a taker. You know me, I'm your friend...

I like being a pusher when the deal is highly in the recipient's favor. I'd make a terrible salesman. "If you buy this car for half price and don't make me haggle, I'll throw in this other car I failed to sell yesterday!"

Sunless Sea!!

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Trine 3? $10.99 wasn't enough to get you to bite last time it was on sale?

DING!
Yeah, I know...but here's the justifiable reason IMO. I played the first one almost to the end (I think - at least I had put in many hours), never finished - but love everything about the game. 2nd one came out with its new shiny, and I bought it, but only dabbled to see if it was much different. I refused to buy the last one until I at least finished the first one. Intentions were good...I was so impressed with the quality of the first two titles, I didn't want to miss any of them, so decided to play them all the way through.

There are quite a few titles like that out there for me...Bioshock, Far Cry, Witcher, Saints Row. It's also why I'm always the guy on here asking the same question: "Is GTA XXVI so much better than the 25 before it that I can just play that, or will I be missing something by skipping those?" The answer to that question for a series is key to my...non-strategy.

The best thing about the new weekly bundle (of games published by Iceberg) is that the subject of the email announcement makes a Vanilla Ice reference.

Frozenbyte AMA: We are the developers of Trine, and we failed our fans with Trine 3. Now we are trying to make a comeback. Ask us anything!
We are Frozenbyte, a game development company mainly known from our Trine series. Our latest addition to the series did not go as expected, and we had to make quick turns or face extinction. Now we are trying to make a comeback with Shadwen, which is a completely new type of game for us.
...
Trine 3 is a great game as just a game, but as a Trine game it fails miserably.
...
Everybody has their own lessons, and probably a few of them... Personally, it's mostly marketing related, as we were kind of tip-toeing around the subject (length/story) and it failed massively. We should've been more upfront about it. If I had a time machine I'd go back in time 2-3 years (and assuming I wouldn't prevent us from starting work on Trine 3 altogether), and make sure we get our production pipeline working way better way early. That way we could've added more length to the game and we probably could've handled the extra production cost at that time too.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I highly recommend This War of Mine, although it can be somewhat emotionally draining.
