The Parasite -GAME OVER-Town wins

Post by Lassr »

The Parasite

First random role selected will be the Alpha Parasite. Alpha parasite will then select 2 players, and their role, as part of team Parasite. After the Alphas selection the remaining players will be given special or normal careers randomly. First special rolled gets asked if they want to be seer or another role. 2nd special rolled gets to choose from seer (if not selected) or the remaining special careers etc until special slots are filled. 3rd special is the seer (if previous two did not choose seer) or choice of other roles. There will be 3 special careers.

(Possible Roles)

Alpha Parasite-Adult Parasite living in human host. Selects 2 town folk to infect at the start of the game after he selects his role.
Larvae Parasites-human hosts chosen by Alpha.
--1 Bombardier (Berserker)-If lynched Bombadier spews acid on a victim before being killed.
--1 Intimidator (Block scan on a target)-Each night blocks any scan attempt on a specific player (once a player is chosen for the block, that player cannot be blocked
again)
--1 Manipulator-Force a player to post a message of your choosing. May be done twice in the game.
--1 Devioid-1 extra hidden vote. May be used twice in a game. (May be withdrawn during day before majority vote, but not re-cast during that day).
--1 Seeker (limited seer-(normal or special))-Investigates a living player to determine if they are a normal human or a special human.
OR
--1 Prober (Mortician)-Probes a dead body to determine their role.

Town Folk Careers (No duplication)
--Town Folk with normal careers-No Powers
--1 Reporter (Seer)-Each night the Reporter investigates a person to determine if they are Human or Parasite (Will be in game)
--1 Doctor (Mortician)-Each night may examine a dead corpse to determine their role.
--1 Soldier (Hunter) –May once during the game kill one player during the day cycle. Identity is revealed when executing a player.
--1 Agent (Protector)-Agent may protect one person each night that carries over into the day up to the lynch. Cannot protect same player two nights in a row. Will know
if protection was successful.
--1 Monitor-As a poll monitor you can place an extra vote each day. Once placed it cannot be removed.

FAQ:
Grundbegriff wrote:
Can the Intimidator blocks scans of himself once?
Can the Manipulator force the same victim twice?
Does the Agent's protection reach up to the next day's lynch including or excluding the lynch itself?

Evil can emulate: Town folk, Reporter, Doctor, Protector (possibly thwarted by Soldier), Monitor (if Devioid), PI.
Can prove self: Soldier
Yes
Yes
Up to, it does not protect against the lynch.

If the Manipulator forces me to say "I believe X is Y," does anything stop me from saying "No, I really don't believe X is Y" right after?
I kind of had the same question. Even if you can't say X is Y right after in so many words, you can put enough contradictions that it is going to make things very awkward. Also, can it be used to force someone to make a vote on someone they wouldn't normally vote for?
You can make them say anything, even vote. And yes they can contradict it or withdraw the vote immediately afterwards.[/quote]
Unagi wrote:I assume the Agent's protection then covers for the Soldier's Shot? Is that correct?

Also, does the Soldier's Shot 'end the day'/'skip the lynch' ?
protects against any kind of kill during the day except the lynch.

Day does not end if soldier kills.

They came in peace. The year was 2042 when first contact was made. Our first colony on Mars triggered the event. Mankind had finally adventured out beyond its local space and the alien race, we simply called ET, chose to make contact. Communication was very difficult but it became apparent they meant us no harm. After one year they left in peace.

Eleven years later, they came again. Wild rumors began spreading over the internet about abductions, and strange behavior. Governments kept dismissing it as fake news until one ET got too close to the president and it was killed. As the alien laid there bleeding something happened. A rather large creature ruptured from the alien’s body. It lunged for a security guard and was shot and killed. Autopsy showed it was a parasite that controlled the mind and body of its host.

The aliens became more aggressive. Luckily they were a peaceful race and had very few weapons. It took more than a year but ever last ET was wiped out. But the parasite remained buried in human hosts. Detection was difficult as they would adapt by mimicking vital organs. Scans were near useless as everything inside the body would appear normal. No test was ever found that could detect the alien parasites presence except for death of the host. People had to always be on guard, sleep in locked rooms. Humanity lost hope, many accepted their fate as the next step in evolution but many still fought back. And that is where our story begins…

How did they fix this in that one weird Next Generation episode from season 1 that dealt with hidden parasites? I want to say that Riker and Data built some weird sound wave thing that caused the parasites to freak out, and then blasted them with phasors?

What about TOS "Operation: Annihilate"? They learn that UV light can kill the parasites, and they accidentally blind Spock except they don't.

I think we can win this as long as there's not an eclipse or something.

6:30 AM
The public video monitors flashed the breaking news. Overnight authorities discovered a body, the entry wound in the neck an obvious failed parasite implant. The victim died during the attempted conversion. The body was identified as Kenetickid. Many of the town folk panicked and fled. A few remained to fight and save their town. They knew the parasite was still here, they never run.
No player died during the night.

I saw we lynch BB or Remus.

School started back up for most, so I assume Remus has to have a parasite by now, and BB lives in Michigan, so proof.....

Good job by our protector.

The parasites could have their own limited seer to locate living specials (but not roles). Don't forget that the village exposing its own special roles also helps the parasites in this game.

The parasites are a selected team and not random. Who was most likely to have been drafted as a parasite, and who would they have tried to kill?

But why should the Protector out himself when he is still well-hidden?

Right now the only info the bugs have is that their chosen target was protected, and possibly they've got a Seeker who learned one player's Normal/Special status.

They don't even know if whoever was protected last night is Normal or Special (unless they spent the Seeker scan on the same target they tried to kill), since the Protector had to choose his target with no prior knowledge either.
