They agreed with the rest of his legislative agenda - why would they have done anything to stop that or retaliate?

I guess I'm just surprised that this specific thing warranted their response. I didn't expect them to do anything against him ever (given what has been happening over the last year). For them to seemingly randomly support the steel industry? Maybe they're just telegraphing to us who their campaign finance donors are?

They have the Guns and Steel down. But they certainly don't support reduction of Germs by way of the CDC. It's a mystery!

I think the "pushback" here is a remnant of the now defunct Republican party plank of generally supporting foreign trade in previous decades. Trade is now translated by the nationalists/populists/Trumpists as "globalism", which is a very naughty word indeed.

Whoops!
President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, used his Trump Organization email address while negotiating and arranging a $130,000 payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, according to NBC News.

An email provided to NBC News by Daniels’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, showed Cohen corresponded with First Republic Bank about the payment using his Trump Organization email address and not his personal email account.

Last month, Cohen said in a statement that he made the payment to Daniels — whose real name is Stephanie Clifford — out of his own pocket.

“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly,” Cohen said.

Apparently even more job openings in the Trump administration:
President Donald Trump’s personal assistant, John McEntee, was escorted out of the White House on Monday, two senior administration officials said. The cause of the firing was an unspecified security issue, said a third White House official with knowledge of the situation.

...

Mr. McEntee was removed from the White House grounds on Monday afternoon without being allowed to collect his belongings, a White House official said. He left without his jacket, a second White House official said.

It wasn’t clear exactly why Mr. McEntee was fired Monday. He indicated to colleagues that it was an issue in his background.

President Donald Trump's longtime personal aide John McEntee was fired because he is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for serious financial crimes, a source familiar with his firing told CNN.

ICE spokesman resigns, citing fabrications by agency chief, Sessions about Calif. immigrant arrests
The San Francisco spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has resigned over what he described as “false” and “misleading” statements made by top-ranking officials, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions and ICE Acting Director Thomas D. Homan.

The now-former spokesman, James Schwab, told news outlets late Monday that his resignation stemmed from statements by Homan and Sessions that potentially hundreds of “criminal aliens” evaded ICE during a Northern California raid in February because Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned the immigrant community in advance.

Schwab said he pushed back on that characterization — but said ICE instructed him to “deflect” questions from the news media.

“I quit because I didn’t want to perpetuate misleading facts,” he told the San Francisco Chronicle, which broke the story. “I asked them to change the information. I told them that the information was wrong, they asked me to deflect, and I didn’t agree with that. Then I took some time, and I quit.”

If the teachers were armed, he could be the fertilizer.

As a more serious aside, showing up at a school with a bag of fertilizer is never a good idea.

If we don’t have a wall system, we’re not going to have a country. Congress must fund the BORDER WALL & prohibit grants to sanctuary jurisdictions that threaten the security of our country & the people of our country. We must enforce our laws & protect our people!

In all this insanity, a serious point to be made here. I am hearing that after a year or so, Trump is starting to feel "comfortable" in the role of president and more confident in his decision making. As such he is looking to get rid of some of his appointees that have been "holding him back". This means people like Tillerson, McMasters, Cohen, Kelly, etc - all people that were probably not his first choice and in some cases sort of pushed on him by the Republican establishment. Now he wants "his" people. What his means is a president who will seek to throw off some of the cautionary shackles placed upon him and who will follow his "gut" more often. I think this will mean a more disorganized, more populist, more hardline administration (in cetain areas of foreign policy - excepting Russia, natch). In other words, more Trumpian and less traditional Republican. So if you thought it's been bad so far, hold your horses, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

I want to see Obama get a 3rd term and undo all Drumpf's undo's.

I'm thinking I'm not going to get a chance to see that.

Or maybe I will. Depends if the GOP gets rid of term limits or not.

Apparently there are rumors circulating that another impending high-level Trump administration departure is H. R. McMaster, with John Bolton lined up to be his replacement. That will be interesting, if it comes to pass. From what I've heard, Bolton wants all the wars.

Trump Administration Wants To Start Sending Secret Service Agents To Polling Stations
Something pretty ugly has been attached as a rider to a routine reauthorization bill. If the bill manages to move forward without this being stripped, future elections would resemble those held by dictatorial governments, where the outcome is assured before the first voter is even intimidated.
President Trump would be able to dispatch Secret Service agents to polling places nationwide during a federal election, a vast expansion of executive authority, if a provision in a Homeland Security reauthorization bill remains intact.
...
State officials are trying to get the attention of unwary Capitol Hill legislators before it's too late. The bill with the rider attached has already passed in the House. The Senate is still looking through its two versions of the reauthorization bill -- one with the rider attached and one that's arguably more respectful of voting rights and the citizens exercising them.
...
As it stands now, federal law prohibits federal agents for entering polling places. This rider would eliminate a protection put in place to protect Americans from government intrusion into the democratic process. Dispatching the Secret Service to any place Trump feels might be overrun with fake voters would only give citizens the impression the fix is in. And if it's already been decided, why bother running a federal gauntlet just to show support for your candidates?
