I'm okay with that. Long, epic, way too long stories are my thing. Wheel of Time, watching all three extended editions of the LOTR movies in one sitting, etc., etc.,

Re: Frank Darabont to write/direct Walking Dead series for AMC
I caught up this weekend with last week's episode, which I liked a lot, and last night's episode. I liked last night's almost as much, it's just that they've gone to well too many times. The Rick telling Negan "I'm going to kill you" well that is. When he says it the first time it's chilling. When he says it a second time, it's already lost its edge because now we know he has failed to kill him or he wouldn't need to say it again. Now, many "|'m going to kill you" scenes later I don't get the point. The disappointing part is they had the perfect scene set up already.
This last episode was all about the ripple effect of unrelated events all culminating towards a certain conclusion.
Instead what we got was a rehash of what has already been rehashed more times than I can count.

Rick: we need to go save the garbage pail kids!
<arrives to find them all dead except the leader>
Rick: screw you, I hope you die!
Ah, the consistently confusing character writing of the walking dead. I was afraid they might have hired a sensible writing staff for the second half of the season.

I can't agree with that part. Rick only needed them in so far as they were a potential fighting force. Once they don't have that going for them why is he supposed to care?

This thread title kills me, every time.
I know we're in a collective nose-dive for the show, but last night's episode actually surprised me. To be more specific without spoiling it, Rick. Not that it in no way mitigates the general arc of the series at this point, but I will give them credit for not doing what I thought was going to happen.

Every episode lately, I find myself sitting there thinking, Why am I still watching this?"
It has become a jumble of plot holes, bad acting and inconsistencies.
Nothing, and I mean nothing, can save it for me at this point. Yet I will still continue to watch. What is wrong with me?

still better than a lot of other shows. I was hoping Neagan's story would be over this season, beginning to think it will not.stimpy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 12:04 pm Every episode lately, I find myself sitting there thinking, Why am I still watching this?"

Ditto. I complained about it before, but I’ve come to enjoy how the writers are pulling back for a wider view of Negan in order to show us that he’s not just a homicidal Snidely Whiplash, while simultaneously closing Rick off from everyone around him as he divests himself of the very qualities that made him a compassionate leader.Smoove_B wrote: ↑Mon Apr 02, 2018 10:35 am This thread title kills me, every time.

There are plenty of shows me and the wife like between Netflix, History Channel, A&E, etc. to waste my time on something we dislike.
The whole Neegan storyline was the final nail for us. Couldn't take another episode with him.

I'm still watching it and enjoying a fair amount of it. It's the best Romero-esque zombie show on tv!
I was glad to see that one thing happen to that one guy since I've wanted something bad to happen to him for a long time now. They did not disappoint in depicting his fate.
I do wish they'd give up on the teasers in the show. Wondering who he picked up is not why I'm going to watch the next episode. Those of us watching aren't watching because of lame crap like that, and that kind of thing isn't going to win over new viewers. There's no reason for you to care to know who he picked if you're not already watching the show.

I guess knowing that the season ends next week, I'm not all that surprised. Assuming they're now following the Breaking Bad and Justified model (I honestly can't remember), something insane will happen tonight and next week is really just the denouement and setup for the next season.
We are clearly watching different shows. As soon as spoiler made that decision, it was a foregone conclusion as to how it would end.And there was a possibility that it may not happen.

I thought this was a good episode. I was so wrapped up in the main story that I completely forgot about the hitchhiker from last week. I'm quite curious to see how it all comes together, but lord help me if there's some type of Glenn dumpster in the season finale...

I liked it except for the Aaron portion, it was like they were cruising along making the season episodes and realized, "Oh shit, Aaron is still in the woods, we need to do something with him."Smoove_B wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:39 am I thought this was a good episode. Re: Frank Darabont to write/direct Walking Dead series for AMC
Eugene's move was unexpected. I was just glad to see it end differently than the past too-many story arcs ended. Kill the Big Bad, scatter, regroup, rebuild, meet new Big Bad. I agree that the setup seemed forced, but it might be misdirection or a feint. And even if not, political struggle would be a welcome change from constant war. Plus,
So there are at least a couple of directions they could go.

That's what I took it to be. It'll be interesting to see how they play that out. Hopefully much better than some of the crap they've done with the story lately.

The inclusion of Darryl in that scene annoyed me. The inclusion of Jesus made me doubt the writers were paying attention to their own stories.

I object to a lot of the writing in this finale. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Rick gets to Infuriating is what that is when they've had years to get their characters and plotting down.
Next, Rick must know that deciding to
Then, and I think this part is objectively beyond argument, it makes no sense from a practical perspective.
Okay, with Eugene they blew it because they couldn't leave it as is.
Finally, that bit with Maggie. I actually kinda get what they were going for and agree with it in principle, but the execution was a failure. It's like some half assed Godfather ripoff with Jesus and Daryl as the capos. And what's Jesus's motivation here in this scene anyways? He just spent the episode stopping this kind of thing, now he's a minion awaiting orders on who to hit next?

Hear ye! Hear ye! I come here to announce the death of The Walking Dead television show.
Multiple reports are popping up all over the interwebs that Andrew Lincoln is leaving the show after next season. There is no Walking Dead without Rick Grimes.... of course there really isn't any real Walking Dead without Carl Grimes so they already shot themselves in the foot. This just makes that decision about 1000 times worse.
