I had a backup script that wasn't cleaning up after itself (like my dog..). Should be ok now?

Any way to get tweets fixed in Black? Maybe the theme has been updated?

They just say "Loading Tweet" and I have to actually follow the link to see what it is.

Usually that is caused by privacy/ad/script software. Ublock Origin was doing to me until I whitelisted OO.

I disabled Ublock Origin and I still have the issue. Maybe https everywhere too?

Nope - it was Disconnect. Man, Twitter does a sh*tload of tracking with the embedded tweets...

Kudos on moving the site over to secure, but just FYI, it looks like the favicon.ico file is still being served up insecure.

Probably just needs the path updated to https:

Code: Select all

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.octopusoverlords.com/forum/posting.php?mode=reply&f=10&t=94939' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure favicon 'http://www.octopusoverlords.com/favicon.ico'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.

Thanks I will make a note of it.. I've been dodging updating the board for awhile and I think I need to bite the bullet and just get it done; I'll try and find where it's serving that up insecure when using https.

Multiple people on Facebook are reporting the site is giving them a blank page, all within the last ten minutes.

Conveying on the behalf of others:
If it matters. IE says page unreachable. Firefox displays an empty page. Chrome says Error 500. Pings and tracerts all work great.

That's why my second thought was firewall rule change when Marty said it was just me.
/edit - JeffV says, in Chrome:
This page isn’t working
www.octopusoverlords.com is currently unable to handle this request.

The funny thing is that I was posting all that from Chrome. Plugin/security incompatibility, perhaps?

Only thing I see wrong in Black is that the Steam profile box is wider than the column it's in. That bugs me but it works. Thanks!

I turned the plugin back on, and had the problem once after disabling the old anti spam module.. Did a re-enable and it worked again, disabled again and it seems fine on my side.

Please report if the site goes blank for some people again, I'm a little cautious as I didn't change much to warrant a "fix".

There are some terrible formatting issues when viewing the site on a mobile browser (specifically on my phone).

I'm particular, last post date/times overlap with thread page numbers on each subforum page.

Advanced search doesn't seem to be working for me at all. I can search in the front page search box, but if I go into the advanced search, I just get a blank page - no results, no 'too short', no 'nothing found.'

Chrome and Digi DarkBlue.

Yeah no error in the logs either which makes it hard to figure out wtf. I think in the fall when this server comes up for renewal (well late summer really) I am going to move to a cheaper option within the same provider (SoYouStart vs OVH -- it's OVH, but at a reduced support tier and older hardware -- costs are about 50% less) and convert to MyBB. PhpBB has run it's course I think, there does not appear to be much support for it from an extension perspective (Under phpbb 3.2) and the forum support staff are neckbearded edgelord assholes.

Search should be fixed, along with a number of other errors. CleanTalk plugin was the culprit; not sure why yet. Ticket opened with them, but it seems like this thing might not be as good as we thought it was.

I would swear I had figured out how to read the site with names and avatars on the left, but I forget what I changed.

Now they're back on the right, and reading the page gives me whiplash. Can someone tell me again what setting to use to get everyone over on the left?

I think it depends on which style you are using. The names and avatars are on the left in Black.
