I'm mocking NBC News a bit, but the article's pretty good in pointing out that the Trump administration is having to be dragged into imposing the sanctions. Though back on the other hand, 90% of what Trump cares about (and what most people read) is the headline, and that's exactly the headline that Trump wants.

]The decision could will bolster President Donald Trump's claim that despite the noise of surrounding special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling, which Trump has called a "witch hunt," his administration has been tough on Moscow in practice and has hit hard when needed.
An initial, immediate round limits exports and financing but may have limited impact, because it largely overlaps with other restrictions already in place, such as on selling arms to Russia.
end article as with the administration there is nothing beyond the intimidate.

And speaking of...
kripal, a former Russian military officer convicted of spying for the U.K., was poisoned with his daughter, Yulia, in March in Salisbury, England, with the nerve agent Novichok, developed in the former Soviet Union; they survived.
So with sanctions on Canada, Germany, Mexico, it takes two days to implement. When it comes to shutting down the borders, it takes a tweet and not even a decision to start illegally detaining US citizens and denying them entry into their own country.

But when Britain gives Russia 48 ours to answer charges, it takes six months to announce we will do what we are already doing that this administration has been actively working to circumvent by not enforcing what we are supposed be doing, all the while using sanctions to chase trade in to Russia...

Why do I have little faith? I'm not gonna say "three months from now" is impossible but I will say say in three months now the elections will already be over, election day being November 6th and three months from now being November 8th.

Oh hey, it must be the weekend.

The big story that the Fake News Media refuses to report is lowlife Christopher Steele’s many meetings with Deputy A.G. Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife, Nelly. It was Fusion GPS that hired Steele to write the phony & discredited Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary & the DNC....

....Do you believe Nelly worked for Fusion and her husband STILL WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF “JUSTICE.” I have never seen anything so Rigged in my life. Our A.G. is scared stiff and Missing in Action. It is all starting to be revealed - not pretty. IG Report soon? Witch Hunt!
In summary (shamelessly stolen from elsewhere):

He is the victim of Mueller's witch hunt, which will find nothing, so instead of cooperating, he's whining about his AG not firing the guy running the investigation that will find nothing. In any case, what they find won't be illegal, and it's the same stuff that Hilary did, but when she did it, it was illegal.

One of the reasons I've loathed that orange piece of shit is his ego. He used to appear on the Howard Stern show all the time (back when I used to listen to Stern) and he was insufferable. He actually got into an argument with a young Hollywood star (can't remember who it was, but they were considered handsome I believe) about who had bedded more beautiful women. It ended with Trump saying he had beaten Casanova in sheer numbers. Of course, if Casanova had simply slept with/married escorts who he had to pay, that historical figure might have had better numbers too.

That's the reason I don't have any respect for anyone who supports him knowing what a terrible person he is. All it tells me about your character is that you either A) are made up of the same shitty character, or B) you are willing to sell out your own morals and principles for a campaign promise. Either way, you suck.

P.S. Third option, you are too dumb/ignorant to believe he is a terrible human being. Outcome is the same - you still suck.

Yup. Seeing a 'Trump' sticker on a vehicle tells me everything I need to know about someone. It's an easy indicator of 1) Troll 2) Ignorant 3) Idiot 4) Selfish 5) Sexist and/or 6) Racist - Pass on all counts. Might as well say "I don't care if I have to shoot myself in the head, as long as it hits someone behind me that I don't like"

When I see a Trump sticker on a truck right next to one of these, I make a mental judgement of the person driving that truck.

I wish I could say he never surprises me, but each time he taps the hammer on my knee I still want to kick him. I suppose I should be more worried if the reflex to be disgusted by him ever wears off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Trump have an association with this person that runs back a decade - to The Apprentice - and it was more him than anyone else that brought her on as one of his "Best People"?

I've got no sympathy for her. She knew what she was getting herself into, but worse, she helped normalize him before things went south for her.

I was listening to...some talking head the other day and they were speculating that all of this Omarosa bs is more showmanship and collaboration between her and trump. He didn't have any real evidence obviously but he said it doesn't pass the smell test: the recording in the Situation Room was recording studio perfect plus the fact that she was able to even make a recording in there was suspect. Also her recording with trump sounds staged. And her story is sucking up all the oxygen right now which is how this president rolls - lurching from one scandal to the next keeping our eyes off the horror that Donald trump is our damn president.

Not saying I necessarily believe that but what's the downside for the prez? He gets called a racist? His base is fine with that and I doubt it bothers him very much and his buddy Omarosa gets paid

Right, but when it sinks and she releases her tellall book about how she's the victim in all this and makes the talkshow circuit, I'll gladly have no sympathy for her, either.

Not that my opinion about either of them makes any difference.

I would say that was just another conspiracy theory and we should concentrate on facts, but the truth is this president WOULD do something like that. He considers himself a master of PR, and he's already made up a completely false person in the past to tout his (self perceived) successes. There really is no way to know how far this insane egomaniac would go to protect himself.

The thing that gets me is that Mr. You're Fired made two separate tweets this morning complaining that someone should fire these terrible people that he hired and that he's perfectly able to fire himself. For someone who's such a big tough guy, he sure seems unable to fire people who work for him and wishes that SOMEONE would do SOMETHING about all these awful people.

I listened to the recording of him on the phone with her after the fact, and it does sound off (Trump: "You know they run a big operation but I didn't know it. Godammit. I don't love you leaving at all").

But why? To distract from what, exactly? "That he's so terrible", while factual, doesn't make sense from Trump's perspective since he doesn't think he's so terrible.

Not sure it was staged from both sides (collusion!), but on the tape it sounds very much like Trump knew (and likely ordered the firing).

Also, the administration if not Trump himself not only called her "best people" when and before she was hired, but a "personal friend".

That this is some prearranged thing between Trump and Omarosa seems pretty ridiculous on its face. For the firing, however, it seems entirely plausible that Trump knew about it in advance / ordered it, but pussied out when talking to Omarosa directly.

He's a classic bully. Talks a big game when he's safe behind a keyboard or at one of his rallies, but pussies out when confronted directly. We saw it with his leaked conversations with the Mexican president about the border wall. We've seen numerous examples of it since.

To me this is just another example of Trump wussing out when confronted. Of course he knew she was being fired.

It's not just that he's a despicable person, but he's so TRANSPARENTLY despicable. He's too stupid to realize how stupid he is.

Yeah, he's too stupid to come up with anything more complicated that simply lying about something in a way that he thinks makes him look good. Lying is pretty much the extent of his abilities (and he's terrible at it). There is zero chance he's part of some clever theater for public consumption. Zero chance. Well, zero chance he's "in on it". The chances that others manipulate him into being part of their own plans/theater are pretty high actually. The Turkey thing is a good example. He doesn't even know where Turkey is, or who Andrew Brunson is. He is "all in" on battling Turkey/Erdogan on twitter, despite not having a clue what the problem is or why he should care. That's clearly the work of someone else (as I said before, I assume it's Pence's work).

Omarosa is a bad person who definitely enabled a bad admin. She shouldn't be let off for that. But if her desire to enrich herself helps expose actual evidence of the shitty stuff we just assume is going on, that's a positive.

It's also saying something that Omarosa is the one White House departure who hasn't continued to spout the party line and suck up to Trump in their post-WH lives. Omarosa at least had the decency to say Trump is a racist and general crap sack.
