I was able to fill out my Far Cry games. ~$18 for FC4 and FC: Primal. I figured that was good enough to finally grab those. FC5 is going to have to wait a while.

Yeah I am pretty much right there with you. I was just blown away that damn near every game in my wish list was on sale. I haven't even really thought about whether I will pull the trigger on anything or not. I am at my in-laws today and tomorrow, and Saturday is college gameday, so I won't even begin to think about buying anything until Sunday. But, I have a pretty sizeable list of unplayed games, so it's possible I won't pick up anything.GreenGoo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 12:45 pm Many of my highly desired wishlist items are on sale as well, but price-wise they aren't even close to a sale price that will get me to pull the trigger, and that's with me having relaxed my price-point requirements significantly over the last 2-3 years.
When a game is 67% off and still over 25 bucks, the 67% might as well be 99% or 0% for all the good it does me.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical of anyone who is happy and finds deals on games they want. Buying a new toy (almost always a highly anticipated video game), especially around Christmas, is a habit/tradition that has been with me since I was very young, and always makes me happy beyond the impact of the toy itself. I would never want to take that happiness away from anyone.
I'm somewhat curmudgeonly (curmudge only?!) the rest of the year when it comes to sales and prices, so don't let me rain on your parade!

I 100% agree with GG on the percent discount not meaning anything. It's the raw price that matters.JCC wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 7:07 pmYeah I am pretty much right there with you. I am like this as well. I would guess a there are quite a few here who look at the new video game they get around xmas has being more significant than the impact of the game/toy itself. It's Christmas, getting something cool you really want is just such a great feeling of joy and happiness!GreenGoo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 9:06 pm Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical of anyone who is happy and finds deals on games they want. Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
Jurassic World Evolution for $22 was as close as I came to buying anything on the sale. Actually Nioh for $25 for GreenGoo might have come even closer because I liked watching him suffer through The Surge and I think Nioh is better (even if you can't chop off body parts!)
I just don't need more games. I already have nothing to tell my family I want for Christmas.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
Truth. Especially if you have a lot of non-AAA titles on your wishlist, like me. I'm seeing much lower lows on titles I have in my wishlist with this sale (compared to the pitiful summer "sale"), but even now, I'm looking at several thinking "that's probably going to be in a Humble Bundle for $1 soon".
Hard to pull the trigger when that exact thing has happened to me more than once. Not to mention my now downright shameful backlog of beautiful, unplayed (beyond 10 minutes) games just begging me for more time, and a chance to show me how special and awesome they are, if I just spent a little time with them.
Having said all that, I don't see Zeus+Poseidon, going lower than what it is currently, and I have been watching it for a couple of years. I also don't see it ever showing up in a bundle since it's SO old, and likely the IP situation is tricky with those as well.

That's a great price on Zeus and Poseidon, and they were great games in their day, I just don't see me buying city builders that old at this point.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
Yeah, today, I would think they are EXTREMELY niche. I can't imagine very many people at all wanting to play these in modern times. I'm interested for two reasons:
1. it's on Steam, and I have no idea where my original discs are, or if I even have them, or if they will install using Win 10. That's a lot of conditions.
2. I played the hell out of Ceasar IV and loved it, went back a few years ago and played it some more. Just never got around to playing Zeus very much, or Cleopatra, which is supposed to be the pinnacle of the series in terms of game play and UX.

There is definitely a market for a new, modern city builder, I think.
If I recall correctly, Kraken was the resident Zeus/city builder from those devs expert.

Age of Mythology: Extended Edition. A remaster, added four years ago, which is still $30. Microsoft is stupid.

Transmissions: Element 120, June 2016. Which is free.
Nothing's been on there for too long. If they'd allow more elaborate wishlists, I'd probably have hundreds. As it is, I want to keep track of the stuff that I really, really want rather than just the 'looks interesting' stuff. I tend to keep a dozen games or less on there.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
For that same reason, I keep about 600 titles on there. They only recently added the ability to sort by discount (welcome to the 21st century) but I've never found the sort by price or discount to work very well. So I manually shove mine into three tiers - games I don't have in alpha order, remastered/Steam versions I might repurchase in alpha order, and DLC in alpha order. It's a PITA.

Ah. I just keep mine in 'want' order, with the ones I'm most interested in on top.
For those I'm just wanting to keep an eye on, I actually have a second account on a different PC. It doesn't own any games, it's never made a purchase. It just holds a secondary wishlist.
