Re: Wife in hospital..stroke
She coded. Heart heart stopped and they checked her. Called a code blue and got her back . Has a heartbeat but is on a vent . I just sat down in icu ....they took her here. Omgomgomg I was worried but she was sleeping but they said her beats dropped to the 40s then a bit more and the monitor room called and then the cna checked and she called the nurse because she didnt look right. Tons of them poured in and started cpr....omgomg. I dont know whats going on.
I was asleep no more than 2 feet from her. It all woke me up. I was concerned when I couldnt rousse her ...she never moved but seemed so resting. I even helped with her earlier and we moved her up in bed. Shhe was getting better.
Todsy at noon when i needed to go she asked me tomstay and i did. . I couldnt leave her when she wanted me .. Later I got permission to go home....i should havenstayed more.omg

Re: Wife in hospital..stroke
Im sorry all she is gone. They got her to ICC or some ICU type deal . Said once they do compressing and stop her heart was barely working even with all the meds in it that should beat like a horse and they were also pumping her air. They said they could do nothing to save her but they worked hard. Let me stay and she went down. I held her, talked to her, and laid with her after she was gone for hours. They finally had to take her body away. She is a donor so that and funderal home.
Im lost and devastated. Got no one now . No one to talk to really or help right now with all this. I have no idea what to do or how to do it. She did it ALL. Banking bills all. Im not sure I can use her money or if I can even use mine. Tried stopping at Social Security but they were packed .maybe soon. Got the money out from your donations guys so have a little until I see what I can figure out. I broke down many times. It will be worse soon when this shock and adrenaline wears down. Im sick.
I only needed her and only wanted her. 31 years side by side always together. Im not sure when Ill post again. Might not a while or might need to badly. I want to be with her and nothing else but here I am.

Deepest condolences for your loss.
I strongly encourage you to have the hospital put you in touch with grief and bereavement counseling and support services in your area; don't try to handle your situation alone.

And Brian - keep talking. If you don't have someone there in person, post here. If you don't post here, PM someone. Just don't turn inward.

Deeply sorry Brian. I lost my husband 18 years ago, he was only 57. I know there are no words that will make this easier, but I will reiterate what others have said. Get grief counseling if possible. Keep talking, if not in person, then here where there will always be someone to listen and care.

Re: Wife in hospital..stroke
Condolences.
I fully agree with what most here are saying.......talk to someone.
Don't hold it in or try to deal with it by yourself.
I lost my Dad almost 30 years ago.
We were close and I was deeply hurt, but never showed it.
A couple of years after he passed, I was sitting in a bar having a beer when all of a sudden it all hit me.
Ended up in the ER and after all kinds of tests what they found was holding all of my grief inside finally caught up to me and I had a severe panic attack.
I started talking to someone on a weekly basis from the hospital and I cant begin to tell you how much it helped.
The resources are there. Please use them.

Yes, again to agree with what everyone else is saying. There are resources available to you. Use whatever is available - grief group, counseling, etc...

Re: Wife in hospital..stroke
My sympathies and condolences and a few tears.
Social Security - if you were getting more, you'll get yours, no change. If she was getting more, you might get an increase (maybe not since yours is disability, that info is based on retirement).
As for getting hers - if they sent it for January - DO NOT SPENT IT! They will take back the current month. Whatever you got in December is fine.
I am no expert on the subject, but that much I just had to go through with an Aunt that I have responsibility for when her husband passed in 2016.

So very sorry. I clicked this thread expecting more good news, and now I'm actually tearing up, which is something I never do. I had really thought she was going to be OK. I can only imagine how you feel..."sorry" doesn't begin to cover it, but it's the only word I have.

Deepest sorrow for your loss. It's clear she provided you significant comfort and companionship. And took care of you to the best of her ability.
Life is going to be very hard between grief and finances. Please get help. The hospital should have a social worker to help.
Zenn is correct about the January Social Security check. That's a headache you want to avoid.
