Is she talking about Ted Bundy? She’s talking about Ted Bundy, isn’t she?

Damn it, Netflix. You knew people like her would fall for a serial killer, but you wouldn’t listen.

Jerry Falwell: "Render unto Donald that which is Donald's"

You nuts attacking @realDonaldTrump for securing the border need to show me where Jesus told Caesar how to run Rome. Jesus taught personal charity but went out of His way to say render unto Caesar that which is his. Jesus never told Caesar to let barbarians illegally enter Rome.
This is what happens when you forget that Jesus was *literally* a child refugee whose family fled their country for safety.

I didn't know that families fleeing persecution were barbarians.

Well, to be fair, they do need an antichrist in order for their endgame to play out according to plan.

Come to think of it, a bible signed by the antichrist would be quite valuable, if it didn't self-immolate.

Netanyahu responds to an Israeli celebrity who recently was quoted as saying “When the hell will someone in this government tell the public that Israel is a country of all its citizens,”.
Netanyahu responded: Israel “is the national state, not of all its citizens, but only of the Jewish people
.

I’m surprised he has time to actually give respnses to these thing, considering how much time he and his family spend trying to steal and cheat the citizens of Israel.

New York State Assemblyman Sean Ryan tweeted Thursday that he was disappointed in the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's decision to put a Chick-fil-A in the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

Just a day later, Ryan tweeted that he spoke with the food court's vendor, who told him that Chick-fil-A would no longer be a part of the project.

Right-wing punditclown has thoughts on religion:

Erick Erickson wrote:I mean if Buttigieg thinks evangelicals should be supporting him instead of Trump, he fundamentally does not understand the roots of Christianity. But then he is an Episcopalian, so he might not actually understand Christianity more than superficially.
At this point, "Christianity" for the Right really just means "The Right."

(Fun fact: more U.S. presidents have been Episcopalian than any other denomination.)

Their opener was on Thursday last year. On the road in Philly.

They had a Monday game in October hosting the Giants.

They played on a Thursday in November. In New Orleans. I'm pretty sure that Turkey was the order of the day.

SB Nation
The Mercedes-Benz stadium concessions list notes that on Sundays, Chick-fil-A is replaced by “Fries Up,” which was a hashtag Chick-fil-A coined during the Falcons playoff run in 2017, but despite the link there won’t be any chicken at the restaurant.

Alison Blue, media relations for the AMB Group, tells SB Nation.com what the restaurant will be on Sundays.

“This stand will become a custom concept called “Fries Up” on Sundays when we have games and “Fries Up” is operated by us in partnership with Levy, our concessions partner in the stadium. The menu items take a southern spin on classic poutine fries and are intended to be shareable items with unique packaging designed for portability.”

Mormon church drops anti-LGBT policy from 2015, saying children of same-sex couples now can be baptized
The Mormon church will no longer consider same-sex couples "apostates" and will allow their children to be baptized into the church without special approval from church leaders, the church said in a surprise announcement Thursday.

The announcement was made by Dallin Oaks, a member of the church's First Presidency, at a conference in Salt Lake City.
"Previously, our Handbook characterized same-gender marriage by a member as apostasy," the church said in a statement. "While we still consider such a marriage to be a serious transgression, it will not be treated as apostasy for purposes of Church discipline. Instead, the immoral conduct in heterosexual or homosexual relationships will be treated in the same way."

The church, officially known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said it wants "to reduce the hate and contention so common today."

The former policy, announced in 2015, had angered liberal and LGBT Mormons, and some 1,500 left the church in protest, according to one activist.
Lots of people around here applauding this move, but I have a hard time giving the church credit for putting out a fire that they started in the first place.

US church membership hits an all-time low.
Although the United States is one of the more religious countries, particularly among Western nations, it is far less religious than it used to be. Barely three-quarters of Americans now identify with a religion and only about half claim membership in a church, synagogue or mosque.

The rate of U.S. church membership has declined sharply in the past two decades after being relatively stable in the six decades before that. A sharp increase in the proportion of the population with no religious affiliation, a decline in church membership among those who do have a religious preference, and low levels of church membership among millennials are all contributing to the accelerating trend.

The challenge is clear for churches, which depend on loyal and active members to keep them open and thriving. How do they find ways to convince some of the unaffiliated religious adults in society to make a commitment to a particular house of worship of their chosen faith? Roughly one in four U.S. adults are religious but not members of a church, synagogue or mosque.

Church leaders must also grapple with the generational slide away from religion. Millennials are much less likely than their elders to indicate a religious preference, and presumably the nearly one-third of millennials without a religious preference are unlikely to ever join a church. But the roughly two-thirds of millennials who do express a religious preference may one day be convinced to join, perhaps as more get established in their lives, including having families, which can be an impetus to becoming a part of a faith community.

Another obstacle churches face is Americans' eroding confidence in the institution of organized religion. While organized religion is not the only U.S. institution suffering a loss of confidence, Americans have lost more confidence in it than in most other institutions.

In addition to the ongoing trends toward declining religiosity, Americans who are religious may also be changing their relationship to churches. They may not see a need to, or have a desire to, belong to a church and participate in a community of people with similar religious beliefs.

These trends are not just numbers, but play out in the reality that thousands of U.S. churches are closing each year. Religious Americans in the future will likely be faced with fewer options for places of worship, and likely less convenient ones, which could accelerate the decline in membership even more.
It's Gallup, so lots and lots of numbers at the link.

An entire confirmation class at First United Methodist Church in Omaha, Nebraska announced to their congregation that they have decided not to become members due to the church’s stance on LGBTQ issues.

The teenaged would-be members read an open letter in front of the congregation to explain why they couldn’t support discrimination despite the church’s recent controversial decision to crackdown on LGBTQ clergy and marriage equality.
Letter enclosed.

...
Churches around the nation protested the anti-LGBTQ stance after the General Conference of the United Methodist Church voted to reaffirm their teaching that homosexuality is “incompatible” with Christianity and to punish individual churches that perform marriages for same-sex couples and allow LGBT clergy.

The eight teenagers received a standing ovation from the congregation for their decision to stand up for Christian values in the face of systemic discrimination.

Reuters: Trump fixer Cohen says he helped Falwell handle racy photos
Months before evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr.’s game-changing presidential endorsement of Donald Trump in 2016, Falwell asked Trump fixer Michael Cohen for a personal favor, Cohen said in a recorded conversation reviewed by Reuters.

Falwell, president of Liberty University, one of the world’s largest Christian universities, said someone had come into possession of what Cohen described as racy “personal” photographs — the sort that would typically be kept “between husband and wife,” Cohen said in the taped conversation.

Global Citizen
India’s top court has ruled that sex with a child is always rape, quashing a clause that allowed men to have sex with underage girls if they were married to them.

The Supreme Court’s landmark decision on Wednesday closed a legal loophole that has historically allowed perpetrators of rape to escape punishment.

While the age of consent in India is 18, there was a clause in India’s rape laws that lowered the age of consent to 15 if the girl was married.

But the court has now ruled that the clause is “discriminatory, capricious, and arbitrary”, and “violates the bodily integrity of the girl child”.

Patheos
The Freedom From Religion Foundation recently told the San Jacinto County Courthouse in Texas that their giant Christian crosses in the windows were problematic. Especially because those were visible during the day, supposedly lit up over the holiday season, and an obvious indication that Christians received preferential treatment inside.

That story picked up traction after FOX News picked up the story a couple of days ago after the local government voted unanimously to keep the crosses in place.

Now the office of the state’s Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton is getting involved. Because of course they are.

In a letter sent to San Jacinto County Judge Fritz Faulkner and county commissioners, First Assistant Attorney General Jeff Mateer expressed his support for their overt Christianity and promised to defend them if FFRF ended up filing a lawsuit.

The Guardian
More than 20,000 Christians have signed a petition calling for the cancellation of Good Omens, the television series adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 fantasy novel – unfortunately addressing their petition to Netflix when the series is made by Amazon Prime.
...
But Christians marshalled by the Return to Order campaign, an offshoot of the US Foundation for a Christian Civilisation, disagree. More than 20,000 supporters have signed a petition in which they say that Good Omens is “another step to make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable”, and “mocks God’s wisdom”. God, they complain, is “voiced by a woman” – Frances McDormand – the antichrist is a “normal kid” and, most importantly, “this type of video makes light of Truth, Error, Good and Evil, and destroys the barriers of horror that society still has for the devil”. They are calling on Netflix to cancel the show.
...
Return to Order is based on the writings of the author John Horvat II. It “calls upon Americans to put principles into actions by working toward what is called an organic Christian society”. Another of its petitions in April called on Walmart to “stop selling Satanic products” following a 2018 protest against a “blasphemous ice cream chain called Sweet Jesus”.

No, not the Wehrmacht, silly.

It's just The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP)
Is earliest origins date back to January 1971, when the first TFP members started to group around the publication Crusade for a Christian Civilization. Today, with over 120,000 active members, volunteers and donors, the TFP is on the front lines of the Culture War, peacefully defending the values of tradition, family and private ownership.

The first TFP was founded in Brazil in 1960 by Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira. The American TFP is one of many autonomous TFPs that now exist around the world dedicated to the same ideals and at the service of Christian Civilization (See Links).
