I watched the first season when it aired via the TBS online streaming app last year. Initially I thought it was just a series of Sci Fi tropes embedded in a Family Guy ripoff...then the story started to take shape and I got hooked. It bounces successfully from silly humor to serious drama with surprising ease. It reminds me a little of Firefly as an animated series...and a drunken Whedon writing it. But in a good way.

I was worried it was a one and done kind of thing, so I'm happy to read I can watch a second season soon.

I watched the first episode on streaming forever ago but my cable/ISP was crap and it wasn't worth the hassle to stream more than the first episode.

I picked up at the fourth episode on AS. I enjoyed it and am bummed that I missed two episodes in between, as they did not go back and rerun them after the initial AS airing. I am curious to see how season 2 picks up. I enjoyed what I saw more than I thought I was going to. The characters started as 1 dimensional archetypes. They didn't bring anything to the table for my entertainment in the pilot and then suddenly in ep 4, they weren't.

I think that's about where I realized the show wasn't going to be just a series of silly, questionably funny comedy skits. Main characters died, people were tortured...it got dark pretty quickly. But it also managed to offset that with some decent humor.

It's on Netflix in Canada. Lucky us. I really enjoyed it but I'm not sure it's for everyone. The humour is... hard to describe. It veers into weirdness quite a bit too. Regardless, can't wait for the 2nd season to hit. I'll be rewatching the 1st ahead of time.

I recall enjoying the first season.

However, I would also agree with hepcat's description above. While the show has its share of quirky humour, it becomes surprisingly grim towards the latter half of the first season. Besides the fact it's animated science fiction, I'd say it has VERY little in common with Rick & Morty. Having said that, it remains a decent show in its own right.

That was fun. I still see it more as a grand space opera with some silliness, as opposed to the brain bending genius of a Rick and Morty or Venture Bros, but it makes me look forward to what happens next.

The opening of episode 2 was certainly something I'd never seen before.

Unfortunately, it looks like the third season will be the final season.

While I will miss it, it did feel a little like season 3 was just being stretched out at times to make room for a season 4…or even the back half of season 3.
