Apparently this one only goes to 10. Or to 0. Microsoft reportedly doesn't intend to continue the numbering/big release system beyond 10. They'll just keep updating 10 for years, and are trying to drop the numbers entirely (so it'll just be 'Windows' and will evolve as the tech does.)

So far, 10 has been a great OS for me. I don't like every element, but that's been true of every version.

I dislike it to say the least. I put it on my wife's laptop a couple years ago. I cant use it and its very unfriendly in my view. I also dont care for all the privacy issues it breaks and continues to break even when you supposedly turn it all off. No thanks.

I like the art design. The visuals in that trailer are very busy, lots of colors and angularity in everything, but I had no trouble in immediately identifying what it was I was looking at.

So Eurogamer gave this a meh and Gamespot gushed over it. They both agree it's a lot like modern Fallout games. It sounds like one reviewer is tired of that and the other is dying for more.

Either way I found myself feeling somewhat dismissive of both reviews. LOL.

Since it is on gamepass I'll be giving it a go so if you are patient you can find out how one huge fallout fan feels about it. Oh, I am on vacation Friday too!

If it is even half as good as New Vegas, that's 100% better than 4.

I'm a sucker for exploration, though, so I'm biased toward Fallout games as long as the story/stories are good. It's why I'm partial to New Vegas since I had (and still having) a great time with it...Fallout 4...not as much.

You can already preload it on Xbox even if you're going to get it via Game Pass. I don't know how much that actually helps you, though, since the preload is 36GB and the day one patch is going to be 38GB.

Feels more like the New Vegas brand of Fallout to me. Almost too much - I feel like I've met all these NPCs before and we've just swapped Fallout items for space opera items. I'm not very far in admittedly, but so far the game has a very much "been here, done this" feel that is turning me off.

Obviously for people that are looking for more of the same in a Fallout vein, this might be good news.

Having a blast with the game so far. Love the humor and dialog. I usually skip over it for the shooty stuff, but it's so good.

Game looks amazing too cranked up on a PC.

Happened to check early last night to see if this was on schedule for release, but it looks like they ended up releasing it a little earlier than I expected, so I actually got to spend a little time with it before bed last night.

Absolutely loving it so far. Interesting, beautiful world to explore, fascinating characters, lots of cool guns to find so far, lots of skill interactions when talking to people, etc. I went with a small statured, fast talker who also knows his way around a gun and has some science background, but I can already see some other builds I'd like to try out.

Just picked up a plasma rifle recently that's been my go to weapon so far in addition to the assault rifle. Plasma rifle looks straight out of Warhammer 40K in design and functions fairly similarly... slow moving ball of energy you can power up before shooting. It tends to drop the marauders I'm fighting in one shot at least, so it's working well for now.

Seems exactly what you'd expect from an Obsidian game with a variety of elements mixed together from all their previous games.

Can't wait to dive into it more tonight.

Normal is a bit easy, so for a decent challenge bump it to hard. You can change on the fly.

I have about 5 hours in and just made it out of the initial location. I've already had a lot of interesting choices to make and shockingly haven't run into a single issue. About my only complaint would be that there is a shit-ton of loot. I am constantly selling stuff and carrying a dozen weapons and armor pieces. The companions haven't been much but distractions for enemies and only one enemy type on the first planet is a challenge and man are they beasts (and completely optional). I have primarily been using the hunting rifle to snipe and a sword that burns (plasma maybe?) for close up work. Also lots and lots of lockpicking and stealing. I like how it seems like you can basically lockpick anything, but if your skill is too low it costs extra lockpicks. Most locks don't use any at all if you have decent skill (or the right armor).

Just in case you haven't heard, I saw a YouTube video stating that you can actually scrap stuff in the Loot screen if your Engineering skill is high enough based on this video.

I saw a popup sale on my screen earlier that the outer worlds was 11% off but I have no idea where that was as I was busy. I looked on the normal major sites and didn't see a sale.

Yeah and the bar isn't really that high. I've started scrapping more since the sell value of most of the weapons and armor is pretty low.

Heh, had totally missed this one coming. So folks generally like it? I'm playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint now and have Red Dead Redemption 2 on the horizon, so maybe I'll grab it during a holiday sale. Is what I saw mentioned above, that it reminds folks of Fallout New Vegas, generally a good comparison?

I'm having a blast with it so far. It's basically "Fallout for people who were getting burned out on Fallout." By that I mean all the things that make the Fallout series great are there, but there are enough differences to make it feel refreshing.

Booted up the Xbox Version late last night (gamepass is an absurdly great deal). I only made a character and played around for about 10 mins. I of course spent a hour making my first character as even the skill descriptions were written so well I had to look at everything. Already seeing wonderful conversation choices that early in. I used persuasion to get help with some bad guys from the local militia and just sat back and watched them duke it out. Only one good named gal lived and I may have accidentally shot her. I got a warning about killing folks from a big faction and went along my merry way. I suppose I should be more careful in the future...or not :). I then ended my initial game test by attacking some space Ape looking thing, which did not end well for me when a bunch of his friends decided to say hello. I can already see myself replaying it with a totally different build and I am only 10 mins in. Good sign and pumped to play more today!

Subbed for the pass for the whopping 1 dollar. Only played a tiny bit, but I was surprised at how fun the initial gun play was and I'm liking the graphics style a lot. :horse:
