Re: The Batman - Robert Pattinson
Putting "The" in front of Batman makes me expect an Adam Sandler movie where through some shenanigans winds up an adult bat boy for some MLB team.

I’ve never seen such emotional anguish over a noun determiner.

So just to make sure were on the same page, it’s your belief that Ohio is the only state in America that uses “The” in front of team names, colleges or whatever?

Re: The Batman - Robert Pattinson
Stop it, The Hepcat.
I'm so-so on the costume. On the positive side, the bat symbol seems like it's darker than the suit, suggesting it isn't all pure black. That's a good thing. We've had enough pitch black batsuits, and I don't think they look great on film. On the other side it's very angular. We've had enough armor plated batsuits, too. Looking at some of it, notably how rough it looks, my first though is that it reminds me of the Year Zero costume (although 'inspired by' rather than 'copy of'.) I suppose the red light could be hiding that the arms are bare.

I don't really have any feelings about him playing a superhero, but I'm having a very difficult time imagining him being Bruce Wayne.

It is OSU belief that they should have a trademark on "The" or was until September of last year.
Also, I like "the Batman." I don't think I'd care for THE Batman. Unless he joined the Rockettes as a spotlight dancer for Santa Claus or something.

"The Batman" works fine thinking of it this way. He's not Bruce Batman, he's a bat man.

Re: The Batman - Robert Pattinson
Clear back in Detective Comics #27 where he first appeared he was called out as The Batman on the cover, and generally referred to as 'the Bat-Man' inside. They didn't just call him 'Batman' because a 'batman' was something else.
Since then, he's been interchangeably referred to as 'Batman', 'the Batman', and 'the bat' in the comics, but outside of the printed format he's usually just assigned "Batman" as a proper name.

Oh, yeah, them too. I get them confused with THE Youngstown University of Amish Haberdashery. It's a common mistake, I'm sure.

Well, I must say, you are the only pro-buggy person I ever met. The others always flee screaming the moment I whip out my camera phone and say "Wait until YouTube gets a load of THIS!"

THE ENGLISH! THE ENGLISH!
By the way, on topic, I also believe that Patinson can pull this off. He spent almost all his time post Twilight building up acting cred by taking off beat roles that don't play into his good looks. He's put in some GREAT performances and I think he'll kill as the The B Man.

Re: The Batman - Robert Pattinson
… You people are the weird.
I immediately thought Pattinson was great casting when I heard of it. Batman to me is a dark, broody, mysterious gothic kind of character and Pattinson checks all of those boxes. He's a terrific actor, don't let the vampire films fool you.
I think his portrayal of Bruce Wayne is going to be more towards the ennui, nihilistic uncaring "whatever" playboy type. The kind who cracks a condescending smile and excuses himself.

I think he'll be a great Bruce Wayne. Not sure how his skinny'ish self will look and move in the suit though. Im sure he will be fine. I messed up when I predicted Heath would suck as the Joker. But I pegged it when I had learned my lesson and said Henry would be a great Geralt.

I gave up second guessing casting when Keaton was put in the cowl. I'll just wait and see how it works.

All I can say is casting him makes it possible I won't even bother watching it, which is saying a lot. It's not that I'm that big a Batman fan, but RP just doesn't do it for me. I may have said it elsewhere but I think he'd be better cast as Catwoman.

Re: The Batman - Robert Pattinson
Watch Good Time then see if you feel the same.
Pattinson could have relaxed and played pretty boys for the rest of his career and been comfortable. But the guy has earned my respect by following the Johnny Depp path (well...a young Johnny Depp at least) of seeking out challenging roles that quite often purposely play down his looks.
