Had an operation last year that cleared up some huge health issues and got me off several meds. 2020 is the year to figure out what healthy looks like. Year started at 286 pounds and I need to lower that.
I was doing okay last year until Thanksgiving. From then on, I was on an incline. I ended the year +15lbs over my lowest weight. My first goal is to get back to where I was before everyone started running around passing out gravy and sugar.

to start the year. Which is actually 1 pound less than I started last year. The problem is that I was down to 192 as of last June 1st, then I stopped dieting and exercising regularly and shot back up.
My wife does a 1000 mile running challenge every year. Last year shed decided to do a 2000 mile challenge but included biking (she did the 2000 miles almost entirely running and only biked with me about once per week). This year she's doing a 2020 mile challenge so I decided to do one too. I'm not much of a runner any more (arthritis and torn meniscus) so I'm doing 4040 mile challenge (which will be mostly biking).

Goal is to stay below 185 through spring, and then try to drop comfortably below 175, or ideally even 170. I'll pop in here occasionally to update my mileage total, but I don't plan to chart my weight every week until April or May. Then again, I'm an obsessive sort of person, so I might do it anyway.
A sunken Battle Cruiser seems a fitting choice for my weight loss ambitions. 244lbs boots and all, I think I can take a pound off for the phlegm in my chest right now.

I'm in the process of dropping the annual holiday weight gain. I topped out at 198 but have gotten it back down to 193.5. Goal is 185, and we'll talk about 180 once I get there.
I'm not where I need to be eating-wise, but I've gotten much better over the past couple of weeks. Combined with starting back running regularly and Spartan classes, I'm hoping it will drop off pretty quick.
Missed a couple days on the bike due to a toe issue. Still sore but getting better. I was sure I was going to be up this week. I was up on Sunday but back down on Monday. Going to have to do a couple of longer bike sessions this week to make up the missed days last week.

I don't seem to be losing any weight myself over 2019. It fluctuates between 265 and 275. it also doesn't help that my room's floor is not level and my scale can't get an accurate reading. *sigh*
OTOH, my waist size did come down a size or two. I can now comfortably fit into size 42 pants, not more size 44 (big and tall)!
(Malls and physical stores generally don't stock anything larger than 42)

At this point I haven't lost as much weight as I had been able to in the same amount of time in the past. But I have put on a decent amount of muscle. I wish I knew how much muscle weight I've put on, that way I would feel like I've lost more fat.
I dont weigh myself on purpose and avoid the doctors office too until I actually try to adjust my food and lose some weight. Id be ok if I ate like a can of carrots one day and a can of beans the next. Those cans are like 60 calories total. At most 100. Read the labels today But I end up eating then I sit and think of food after I have a sad spell hit me and eat again. then I eat a chili dog or cookies then tuna then another chili dog then maybe a can of soup. Im so full I cant breath or bend over but Ill shove more in on top of that.

Much better week this week. Several good days on the bike trainer and a few outdoors. Unfortunately, I've been neglecting all weight training to focus on the bike. Not bad for weight loss but I need to do both. Going to work on getting 3 days of weights back into my routine. Also had too much 'off time' with food and beer. Need to work on that a bit this week.

Up from last week after a vacation weekend with lots of beer, snacks, etc.

Still up a bit from a few weeks ago but heading back in the right direction. I completely stopped weight training when I started the 4040 mile challenge but picked that up again last week. I enjoy it but figured I needed to make the bike an every day habit if I wanted to get in all the miles. Hopefully this week works out. I have two birthdays this week for the kids. There will be cake everywhere along with multiple dinners out.

Some smart scales are capable of tracking that stuff for you. I just bought one of these to start using while I seriously attempt to lose pounds for the sake of my knees.

I have a renpho scale very similar to that one. I don't trust the muscle weight index on it. It tells me that my muscle mass steadily goes down as I lose weight. Which I can very clearly tell is wrong.

On the bad side, I've used up my cushion and am dangerously close to my 185 ceiling. On the good side, mild weather made Feb. more walkable than usual. If spring is early I can turn this around before getting into my red zone.

Ever wondered how much the contents of your stomach and bowels weigh? 3.7 lbs. That's how much I lost in the 36 hours between my colon cleanout and the morning of the scope. By the next morning I'd replaced 2.5 lbs of it. YCMV.
I'm not transitioning my diet into weight-loss mode yet, but if this week's mild weather turns into early spring I should be able to get my mileage back up where it belongs and hold the line. High temps are forecast in the 50s and 60s thru Friday.

Another stretch of sloppy weather will keep my mileage down this week, and it will be hard to transition to weight-loss mode until grocery shopping returns to normal. Gonna be living on starch for the next couple of weeks, at least.

With Wife walking with me whenever the weather permits now, I'm down to 75% of normal speed and distance. At 3 mph she's still faster than the average person, but she does slow me down. Looks like we're going to be isolating through May, so 2.2 miles at 3 mph is going to be my new normal for awhile.
Working from home has not been good for weight loss. Been able to maintain biking but too much beer and to many breaks at the fridge have led to getting back up to 260.

I've kept up my running, but it's only helping me maintain vs lose weight. I'm sitting more due to working at home, and of course the kitchen is awfully convenient.
Still, if I come out of this having broke even, I'll take it.
Now that Wife is always home and grocery shopping is a dangerous expedition, my diet is coming to resemble hers -- lots of pasta, cheese, and bread, and very little protein. We have got a ridiculous amount of pasta and sauce in the pantry. I'm planning a grocery raid tomorrow to supplement the carbs, but they're still the backbone of my plague diet.
In the last three weeks I'm at +6 pounds. My normal 'healthy' foods were out of stock, so I told myself I'd say 'screw it' for a month or two until things die down. Once I finish with what I have, I'll probably need to revisit that choice.
