Some thoughts from a guy named Barack Obama.
In so many ways, John’s life was exceptional. But he never believed that what he did was more than any citizen of this country might do. He believed that in all of us, there exists the capacity for great courage, a longing to do what’s right, a willingness to love all people, and to extend to them their God-given rights to dignity and respect. And it’s because he saw the best in all of us that he will continue, even in his passing, to serve as a beacon in that long journey towards a more perfect union.

Also, I forgot he did this after the comic book was released:
My favorite thing about John Lewis is that at ComicCon, he cosplayed as his younger self, wearing the same coat and backpack he wore at the March on Selma and led kids in a little march around the convention.

That time John Lewis, then 76-years-old crowd surfed on the Stephen Colbert Show.

Wow he really lived life to the fullest! He's both an icon and a down to earth person with a great sense of fun.Smoove_B wrote:

We're so used to these old heroes, and one by one we're losing them. It's time for us to be the heroes they taught us to be.

Great man. RIP.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I like that he riled up Trump. If Trump dislikes someone then that someone must be doing something right and good. RIP.

Didn't he do that when he was older again also not that long ago?
Wait why is it on the wrong side of the road?

Wiki
The Edmund Pettus Bridge carries U.S. Route 80 Business (US 80 Bus.) across the Alabama River in Selma, Alabama. Built in 1940, it is named after Edmund Winston Pettus, a former Confederate brigadier general, U.S. senator, and leader of the Alabama Ku Klux Klan.
...
The Edmund Pettus Bridge was the site of the conflict of Bloody Sunday on March 7, 1965, when police attacked and brutally beat Civil Rights Movement demonstrators with horses, billy clubs, and tear gas as they were attempting to march to the state capital, Montgomery. The marchers crossed the bridge again on March 21 and successfully walked to the Capitol building.
The bridge was declared a National Historic Landmark on February 27, 2013.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Renaming that bridge should just be the first step in honoring him.

Re: R.I.P. John Lewis
John Lewis has some final words for us.
Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble. Voting and participating in the democratic process are key. The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society. You must use it because it is not guaranteed. You can lose it.
You must also study and learn the lessons of history because humanity has been involved in this soul-wrenching, existential struggle for a very long time. People on every continent have stood in your shoes, through decades and centuries before you. The truth does not change, and that is why the answers worked out long ago can help you find solutions to the challenges of our time. Continue to build union between movements stretching across the globe because we must put away our willingness to profit from the exploitation of others.
Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe. In my life I have done all I can to demonstrate that the way of peace, the way of love and nonviolence is the more excellent way. Now it is your turn to let freedom ring.
