I just managed to get full collectibles for SE3's mission 1, 2, and 3, and seriously, even with a map and guide (I'm using the one from GamePresssure.com) , the collectibles are PITA to find. They are hidden in the corners of the map that you have to explore every f***ing sandbag emplacement and room to find them. And seriously, do they expect us to frisk EVERY f***ing body we come across?

Sorry, that's it for this game. I'm at 72 or 75% complete, I think, and that's as far as I am going. It's TEDIOUS, not challenging to find the collectibles... You basically shoot your way through, and hope you don't run into a one-way valve like in the final mission where you enter into the bowels of the factory. Fortunately, for most missions you can go back as much as you want. In Mission 3, I had to run all the way back to the starting area to find two "war diaries" I had missed, because either I didn't explore that building (I was too busy shooting and relocating) or I never found this "back passage".

FWIW, $5 is the lowest I have seen them - and they have only become that cheap recently. I have owned Bio1 for a while, but Bio2 has been on my WL forever, and it's previous low point was $6.79 (that I ever saw). I think in the summer sale was the first time I noticed it at $5.

I was the same way with Lego City Undercover. There's an exhaustive amount of collectibles in that game, more than their other games being that this is open-world. Worse is the fact that even if you find these things, the icons on the map don't disappear. So very tedious.

with this current one i'm playing (Lara Croft GO), there are hidden gems and artifact pieces in various parts of the levels, but it requires searching the screen on every move, and sometimes, on going to parts of the level you don't need to in order to finish the level. i realize this game comes from micro-transaction land, but why would you want to replay multiple puzzle levels that you've already solved in order to get #s 31-34 of 34 emeralds...

Yeah, it doesn't serve much purpose, but since those puzzles are all about finding the one solution that works, it's pretty easy to go back through a level you just solved where you missed an urn and spot it. Thankfully they are tracked on the level select screen. I do agree it would be pointless if you went through the whole game without paying attention to them and then tried to go all the way back through later.

But really what I'm saying is that if I could do it, with my super-low tolerance for collectibles, you can do it.
I have but one advocate.

Playing Sniper Elite 4, i.e. let a sniper loose in Italy. It seems the Nazis shot all the locals (I found an execution site where all were gunned down) and I killed all the Nazis. The enemies are more relentless, albeit same sort of mechanic. Now the attackers come from further away, and the faster you run away from the spot you were found, the less they will be able to flush you from cover. If you wait to fight it out, you will be surrounded on all sides and be grenaded to death.

There was also a bit of a "checkpoint" problem. One of the previous sub-objectives was to clear the checkpoint. Except I had already killed everyone near the checkpoint. FINALLY one guy stepped on a mine I planted earlier elsewhere. I was like... I don't even remember where I planted that, and that was the guy I needed to kill? Sheesh.

And I swear I was ALL over the island, both run-and-gun, and sneaky ninja. And I missed HALF of the collectibles. I am however, quite proud of my foresight of setting a trip mine across the entrance where I enter the villa, which happened to take out the general I needed to assassinate... AND his guard. I climbed up the stairs, destroyed the camera, which alerted the Nazis. I got spotted, and needed to run the hell away. I was planting another mine when they spotted me. I shot one, but the other one grenaded me. Reload, ran the heck away, came around the back side of the villa, shot a guard inside the house in the head. Climbed up a ladder or two, was hoping to find a vantage point to snipe then the trap went kaboom.

I mean, i wasn't exactly looking for the collectibles, but apparently I need to frisk EVERY body as some of those are "last letters" only meant to be found on bodies. Yikes.

One thing I REALLY hate about SE4 is the moment you accomplish the main objective, you're dumped to "mission end". There is no chance to go after any secondary objectives. So you pretty much have to NOT do the main objective or leave it for last, but instead, go do every secondary objective possible. And sometimes, there's simply no clue.

For example, in the 2nd mission, where I need to infiltrate this village, kill Nazis, find the resistance, and there was this blah blah about go visit the graveyard behind the church. I got there, except the mausoleum needed a key. I figure I'll get it after meeting the resistance. I helped Resistance fight off a Nazi attack (too late to save the ones got executed) but did kill more Nazis. Nobody gave me no key. I ran around the place, looking for a hidden passage, and finally found it in a "sunken" door (leads kinda into basement) except there's no one there, except a note to attack the castle. Got up there, didn't find no body until I got inside... and sudden, the mission ends on a cutscene. Nobody gave me a key. So one secondary unfinished.

Then it's the viaduct attack. Apparently the Nazi cannoneers can't find a place to park that big bertha type railway cannon... except on a viaduct. It'd make sense if they put some serious checkpoints on either end so no one can get in, but nope. I get to put a satchel charge on the center piller and kaboom it. By basically taking care of a few guards, walk calmly to middle of bridge, climb down the scafolding, shoot a couple more Nazis, plant a satchel charge, shoot an armored car (once for the driver, once for the gunner), then walk past the other side and that is it. I had two more secondary objectives... Apparently the allies lost a special recon plane I need to blow up, and retrieve the footage from the pilot if I can find him, even if he's kept prisoner. I'd figure, I'm walking away from the bridge, may as well finish it... But nope, as soon as I hit the bridge and the cannon falls to valley floor, mission end! ARGH!!!!!!!

As several have posted lately, I've been going through kind of a gaming funk. I'm getting ready to move cross country in about a week. I've got everything done that I can do to get ready. Now just spending a little time gaming before I go at least a week with no computer at all.

So, I fired up Fallout 4 again with only a few mods. I almost always have gone sniper and long rifles in the past playthroughs. It made it hard when the baddies were close in.

This time I decided to try a melee only character. I'm enjoying the first 10 levels so far! Making much more use of VATS is helping. My serrated machete makes quick work of most fights. They're usually over in one VATS attack, or at most two swipes. So far the defense doesn't seem to be a problem. Cleared out the Corvega Assembly Plant with minimal stimpak use. I also rarely "sprinted" in the past. Using that a lot more too. I get to the raiders sooner, click VATS, one-shot the baddie to the head! Turn and sprint to the next one, and so on. Enjoyable in a way that long-range sniping never was.

I just got the 9th level ability Blitz. I hear it's amazing, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet! Hee Hee. The raiders and mutants better watch out now.

I'm a bit bummed that Supradarky, a YouTuber whose Best Video Game Music channel had over 3,000 tunes, was forced to take it down because of multiple copyright strikes. I discovered so many great songs from that channel, often from games I'd never heard of. He's now set up a Patreon and Discord. (This was my first time trying Discord; I have no idea what's going on here!) He's built up a strong community over the years, and maybe his list of favorite game music will continue in some form.

Okay, did the dock assault, and this one, I changed tactics slightly. I will rush when I can, and in fact, it's the only way to pass some areas. Managed to do ALL the secondary objectives, THEN the primary one. This time, the game gave a different objective after accomplishing the two primaries... Head for a radio outpost, so the allied bombers can do a night raid on the harbor and cover up any evidence of your presence. Why didn't you do that in the previous mission, huh?

Got in the back of the dock, and headed south. Got into a minefield, but was able to get two mines deactivated, then was almost spotted by a patrol. Shot him in the head when he got closer. Went to drop the mines I just dug up. Teased another guard to his doom. Then found that there is only ONE way through... had to play a bit of hide and seek as there were no sound mask sources nearby. Got through the gap, only to find another corner that was covered by multiple patrol, and the other way is an occupied warehouse. Use silenced pistol to blow up a truck, then when the enemy gave all clear, and the guy turned away, I followed him, and stabbed him just as he turned around. That got me through that part. Got up to the top of the first search light... I need to disable 3 searchlights and 2 AA guns. Okay, walked up to it and disabled it. Can't shoot it, apparently. There was a soundmask generator on the roof, so used it to clear out the entire yard, as well as some further away, while sound masked. Then killed the reinforcements. Also spotted the harbor master, a secondary target. He was agitated and was search the yard with soldiers. So when soundmask was available, I put a bullet in his brain. Then I hit his two guards. Then that's that.

Slowly worked my way south THROUGH the warehouse, and onto the 2nd search light, which was on the roof. Almost got spotted by the enemy sniper. Had to use one of my suppressed bullets, forgot to mark his position so I can grab his sniper report. ARGH. Any way, continued onto the AA gun, shot the guards from a distance with sound masking. Blew it up, then ran away really fast across the dock Then a few tanks decided to come play. Decided to shoot out their transfer case in the back, so their speed is super-slow, but they can still move around. One was stuck behind a disabled tank. The other was doing low-speed patrol. Decided to leave them alone for now. Advanced to THIRD AA position, killed the crew, then moved onto 4th AA position, and used the sound mask generator to shoot a few more, and the reinforcements. Found the typhus vaccine I promised "the Angel". Wento the corner of the map to disable the last AA position. Got back, explored the warehouse to find the manifest going to Alagra, killed more soldiers in the warehouse, where I did ambush, and went loud. Need to do that a bit more often, where terrain favors run-and-gun ambushes. Then worked my way around to kill both tanks, one by sneaking up and drop a TNT, then retreat to a nearby roof and shoot it. One was disabled, and I had to run up to its back, pop a satchel charge, then life a fuse. I also did it to a nearby armored car, then run for the other tank. This one is still mobile, so after I passed I dropped a vehicle mine in its path. Then I went exploring the "weapon cache", and I was able to find it. That's all the secondary objective except killing the tank. And in the cache were a Panzerfaust. I grabbed it, and popped one onto the damaged tank. Voila, all secondary objectives complete. Went back to get the gun back (found an FG42, but due to not enough ammo, dropped it for Berretta M38). Went to explore the final building, killed a few more soldiers, this time going loud, and did another run-and-gun ambush in the warehouse/switchyard. Found the primary objective... the item being sent. That's primary objectives finished. Then was told to find a radio and call in the allied bombers. Did that, and the mission ended. Took like 3 hours, made like 90 kills, and accomplished all primary and secondary objectives... but obviously, not all the collectibles. In fact, I didn't spot a single eagle to shoot... And didn't grab the sniper reports after I killed them. ARGH.

No Man's Sky

(I'm going to start posting the name of the game at the top of posts if discussing a specific title to keep everyone from having to scroll to remember what I'm talking about.)

I'm still having fun, probably 30 hours in. I'm about halfway through the main quest. The only complaint I really have about it is that it ties me down to just a few systems rather than allowing me to explore ever onward.

I have my base (last time I played the base building was quirky as hell), but I am going to need to relocate soon. I set it up on a Lush planet near a settlement with a trader, which works great. Unfortunately, this was long before they explained how hotspots worked and why they were important. As it stands right now, I've got a whole row of solar panels and a whole row of batteries, but I still run out of juice halfway through the night. I am also, honestly, running out of physical space to build in, as I share my area with the settlement building, two hangar type outbuildings, and a pile of broken machinery. I may just need to go on an exploration binge and see what I can find, planet-wise. I'm trying to finish up the base building questline first, though.

I got lucky on my ship and found a crashed Exotic (mosquito style) very early on. I was able to repair it and have been flying happy ever since. I also found a crashed living ship, but I have no idea what to do with it. I could repair it, but it looks like it's going to require a crap-ton of obscure materials. I might be better off just scrapping it and buying on from some wandering NPC. I think I'll have to repair a few systems to do that, though.

My freighter... I've got a capital ship (I knew to turn down the first freighter I was offered), but I've yet to really build much in it. It's confusing to build in, and everything requires significant amounts of silver, which tends to trickle in a few at a time from asteroid mining.

Story missions can move with you. It has been too long to remember the details but if you move on, you can regenerate the target location of a mission in your current system or an adjacent system. I think the option pops up if you have a mission selected and leave the target system.

You'd think with 200+ hours in the game I would remember it better, but you'd be wrong.

I tried starting a new game in VR and the fact that the controls are completely different hurt my brain a little bit and also I can't do marathon session on VR like I can otherwise so it likely wouldn't get very far anyway.

I found freighters to be largely useless. They seem to be portable storage, but they never seemed that useful to me.

I could see them being a lot more useful if I couldn't just teleport back to my base anytime I like. I'll likely build it out, but just because having my own ship sounds like a fun thing.

Remember I mentioned that in SE3 they made the transition between zones more seamless, like SEV2? Turns out, there are some seams visible if they didn't disguise it well. I kept some screen shots for the fun of it.

One thing I couldn't quite get used to is they changed some hotkeys in SE4. Like 'hold breath' was changed to space rather than E in SEV2 or SE3. On the other hand, they changed the climb bit to be more contextual and intuitive. If you approach a ladder or climbable pipe, you automatically go into climb mode instead of pressing space to climb. There are also no "fixed" "sniper nest" anymore, which is good.

Having suppressed ammo separate from regular ammo... is debatable. It sure introduces a bit more tactical flexibility, even if it made no sense historically.

That can be fired from regular pistols and rifles, just not sub machine guns (which sort of makes sense, those you can cycle manually). I don't think they made subsonic rounds in WW2, at least not ones I can find on German or Italian soldiers. :)

Just did the monastery mission. Did "kill capo" last, did everything else. I decided to switch to the Carlisle silent rifle, and let's say... If you can stay silent (and this baby has a built-in suppressor... In WW2!) it's absolutely beautiful how enemies have no idea where you are, and you keep nailing them one after another with headshots, until there are none dare to approach, then you slowly move up, and repeat picking off people from the edges and back inward. If they spot the body, shoot the investigator, or if in a group, feed them a grenade. The main problem with this rifle is it lacks penetrating power, so you can't get double kills with this weapon. And since it's basically a slow .45, range sucks and zoom... also sucks, as range is like, 150m if you're lucky. But within this range, inside foliage or good cover, you are invisible and nearly invincible.

I almost goofed up "spot the truck" secondary objective. I was supposed to watch each truck long enough through binoc to pick out the one with the stolen art. And I was too busy dodging them. Had to run across the peninsula to catch up and re-acquire with binocs.

I managed 60% of the collectibles on this mission, a new record for me. Got both snipers and their records. Only found ONE stone eagle out of 3, found maybe half of the letters. I simply can't remember EVERY darn last dead body's position to frisk them all, or to explore every nook and cranny on the map!

Did the facility mission. Actually found 74% of the collectibles, killed all 5 snipers and got their reports, as well as killed 4 officers and their duty rosters, but didn't find all the letters, documents, or those stone eagles.

The mission was almost absurdly easy with the Carlisle suppressed rifle. As long as you don't miss the head, enemy has NO IDEA where you're shooting from. And you can kill ANYTHING, including mission kill tanks and APCs (half-tracks) by shooting both the driver and the gunner through the respective slits. Then you just sneak up behind it, slap a satchel charge, on it, light a fuse, run like heck, and KABOOM! You can even do multiple in a row. I think I killed 3 tanks and 1 half-track, plus 4 trucks.

By the end, I had 125 kills, which basically is the extermination of the entire base except the primary target, Kessler. Had some problem when two tanks showed up, was able to kill all the infantry first, then the tanks were no problem once they were disabled by shooting the driver. Taking out their exhaust makes them easier to track, I think.

I explored just about every building on the premises, and used traps liberally. I booby-trapped generators, bodies, doors, and more. If I got spotted, I ran back the way I came and drop mines in doorways. More often than not, they catch enemies unaware. Kill someone in a visible area, booby trap it and run the heck back. Also booby trap doors of important rooms like radio room, HQ room, where they will be patrolling. You can even set a delay on the mine so it catches multiple enemies rather than just the first one, if more than one come to visit.

Just got my first gun upgrade, which basically is by doing a ton of headshots.

Decided to first go around the perimeter and take out the naval guns, only to find even MORE coastal guns, the flak guns and more. Fortunately, you have infinite satchel charges. Kill all the guards, kill reaction force if any (preferably with traps), then run in and slag the guns. Same with the naval guns (basically a cruiser turret placed for land use) Repeat for next gun. Encountered the crypto facility by chance, after shooting the lieutenant outside, found the combo, so didn't have to blow the safe. Continued blowing up guns, killing Italian and German troops as I go. Had to play hide-and-seek a bit with traps and whatnot. Some parts of facility have multiple levels so traversal became a bit of tedium.

There were two sections of the map littered with 3 teller mines each. Was able to defuse them to resupply myself, and put the excess back into the ground. They are good "shortcut" across some parts of the map. But at the end, they weren't really necessary. Did use one part for a bit of hide-and-seek, where I had to run away to regroup when like 5-6 soldiers showed up instead of 2-3.

Come to think of it, I MAY have left a secondary objective undone, but I never "received" such, as I didn't see the relay tower until the very end. Apparently, killing the radioman slows or stops reinforcements.

Any way, this mission took me like 3 hours. Yikes. Will play next on the weekend.

Finished missions 7 and 8.

Mission 7 is... painful. It's obvious now that Kessler's capture was an elaborate trap, and it made perfect sense in hindsight. When Sofia ran off with the partisans to supposedly rescue her father, it's obvious it's a trap, and you pretty much have to leave the partisans to their fate, while you explore the area, take out Colonel Rothbauer, and remove any defenses around the town, take care of a propaganda convoy, exterminate more German soldiers, and eventually discover the fate of the partisans... and Angel herself.

Infiltrated the area and was carefully picking my way through German soldiers. With the silenced rifle, I was popping heads left and right. Eventually made my way down toward the graveyard and the small chapel there. Decided to snipe across the small bridge. I nailed enough guards that the colonel came out himself to investigate, and I took his head off. Killed all the guards on this island mansion. Explored the basement too. Then slowly explored my way past the bridge to the other part of the island. Spotted the enemy sniper, but he was too far for my rifle at the time (400+ meters) so I just marked him and continued. Took out one cannon, then another. Found this tunnel I can't advance into, decided it "obviously" needs a few mines, so I left all three of my teller (flat disc) mines in 10 yard intervals from the tunnel leading to the intersection. Turns out it was the right decision as that was where the propaganda truck came out of later. I honestly did not know at the time. Took out another sniper. Then helped the partisans took out some Germans. Continued around the island, gathering documents trying to figure out who Bohm is, Accidentally ended the mission when I was trying to get the body of the final sniper (if you walk into the square, the mission ends). Had to reload the autosave and go in the different direction.

Ran around the island again, just to explore rooms and whatnot, did pickup some more documents and letters, but not all of them. Did make it up to the sniper's stairs... Forgot snipers always leave traps and almost killed myself by hitting a trip mine. Fortunately I have plenty of medkits and I already exterminated everyone in the sector. Had to defuse two more trip mines, and one more soldier patrolling above. Then it's a matter of running around the island... again, exterminating any one I can find. When I've had all I can stand, I headed into the square to witness the ending (again).
Spoiler:
As you can probably expect, Nazis were waiting for them, and it was a massacre. By the time Karl got there, it's just Partisan bodies.
Compare to 7, eight was... basically a 3D maze. Again, the silenced sniper rifle made it almost... unsporting for Nazi head-popping. Get closer, pop. Get closer, pop. Clear the bridge of guards, hide in foliage, hide by the bridge, add a trip mine to a body and teased an enemy over, etc. More guards? No problem. Cleared the southern part of map, then across the bridge. Then shot a couple more. Then went west to make an end-run on the enemy, and snuck up to the entrance. Fund a side door as the main door is covered by pillboxes. Went in and started killing patrolling guards. Found two snipers together patrolling a catwalk. When one ran off to check a different section, I shot the one who stayed put. When his buddy came back to check him, I shot him in the head too. Then slowly managed to depopulate the middle section of the base, and even used a satchel charge to blow open the safe. Nobody around to challenge me. Cleared the eastern entrance of guards with a combination of traps and sniping. Got into the middle section and started shooting vehicles, rectifiers, opening the valves to dump the rocket fuel, and wrecked a few of those missiles, while killing more guards. Finally got to the centrifuge, dumped anther valve, and killed all the guards. Did find another two snipers here, killed one, plus three in the main facility, makes 4, leaving 1. And I did find him, but can't engage him yet as the railyard is full of enemies. Had to depopulate them first. After I did that, cleared the area of hostiles, and went back to hunt the third valve, eventually found it back inside the facility, and killed any vehicles left inside. Finally went to remain portion, wrecked the centrifuge, and got ready for the finale.
Spoiler:
General Bohm *was* the informant talking to Weaver, and there was no Dorfmann, it's Bohm playing both parts trying to tease out whoever's attacking him. And he's captured Sofia, and he and his guards had Karl (me) trapped. But when push comes to shove, Sofia attacked Bohm, and was shot in the head. Karl was able to duck behind a desk. Bohm ran for the his evacuation jet bomber with missile(s?) ready to strike USS Ancon, Eisenhower's command ship, with world's first anti-ship missile, and now Karl have to kill the 2 guards left to delay him, run for the observation deck, and stop Bohm's bomber by shooting its engines.
There are 6 more missions not in the campaign I can play.

Using the De Lisle Carbine, which is a suppressed weapon in WW2, in SE4, is a bit of a... cheat? Basically, EVERY shot you make is now suppressed, no suppressed ammo needed. You can drop someone who's like 3 meters from someone else and they won't hear a thing. When enemies started wearing armor so body shot won't kill them outright, headshots are mandatory. And when they can't see where the shot is coming from, you can stay hidden and pick them off one at a time.

The really crazy part about this gun is it actually is based on an SMLE (Lee Enfield) and fires .45 ACP (yes, Colt .45 bullet) using a modified .45 magazine holding either 7 or 11 bullets. The barrel is based on a Thompson sub-machine gun.

In real-life, the gun was described as "not very accurate", though as a fictional "sniper rifle", it's unparalleled good, esp. if you are within 100 meters, and they don't know you're there.

Turns out there is an upgrade for the DeLisle rifle I cannot do with keyboard and mouse, which is very surprising. Or I haven't figured out a way yet.

With the rifle, if you use the controller, you can pull the trigger half-way, so it comes up to your shoulder, but you're NOT looking through the scope. If you get 50 kills this way, you get recoil reduction upgrade.

I haven't seen a way to do this with keyboard/mouse instead of controller. I'll keep researching. EDIT: Had to hold the left CTRL key down. ARGH.

I have no problem doing the other two upgrades with a ton of headshots and whatnot.

Replayed San Celini, and even with a map to assist, took me 3 hours to exterminate the island and find EVERY collectible. There was one that can't be found until I finally got a screenshot on where it was on the map. It's on a small table on a house removed from the road, facing AWAY from the road. You'd have NEVER ran into it unless you're the kind that conducts a grid-search for collectibles. ARGH.

Again, was not really detected.

Turns out if you hide in foliage, you can do melee stealth kill where you surprise the guy, kill him, and drag his body into the foliage to hide. It's called a "foliage takedown". And it's one of the mission challenges to do 10 of them. I did 3, then I got a little bored and stop chasing the challenges.

Decided to try "Deathstorm Part 1: Interception", a DLC mission. Again, exterminated the naval base myself. The four snipers were difficult, as I had to eliminate all the AA guns, AND take out the big guns, AND all the naval infantry running around, grab some logs from the ships, destroy the anti-submarine net, kill a specific officer and steal his papers AND dump the body (so an allied spy can take his place), and kill a scientist, then find a key to unlock the train car containing a package I need to intercept (or blow the door open). Did NOT find all the letters. It's a true PITA looking for them among multiple warehouses, barracks, and so on. I did get all the snipers, and I think I got all the officers. Did not find a single stone eagle. ARGH. Ended with 97 kills, as I really did exterminate the entire naval port.

The weapon "upgrade" is kinda cute, in that you have to perform certain feats with that weapon. For example, for the Delisle Commando Carbine, in order to upgrade the zoom (default is 2x to 4x, can be upgraded to 8x) I had to make like 20 kills at beyond 100m. To reduce recoil, I have to do 50 "shoulder only" (but no scope) kills. To increase damage, I had to perform 5 double-kills. Given that this rifle does not have great penetration, double kills require shooting an explosive barrel or such. And as pointed out, I only just figured out the recoil shoulder thing.

EDIT: Just realized that TNT kill of a tank, half-track, or armored car, by shooting the TNT, counts as a double kill (driver and gunner). This beats the satchel charge method.

Once you got all three upgrades, you then perform a 4th feat to get a special "weapon mastery" skin that makes the gun gold-plated or something. :) But it's strictly cosmetic.

EDIT: All three guns can be upgraded this way, and since there are a ton of weapons, you have to pick one you REALLY want to specialize in. And not all weapons are unlocked at the beginning. You gain 1-3 mission points per mission you finish, and you need to spend some of those points to unlock some weapons. Most rifles are 5 points and SMGs are 3 pts, and pistols, 2 pts.

For now, I'm keeping the M3 Grease gun, and HDM the suppressed handgun (not the Welrod, too slow). They each have about 1/4 of all the different upgrades done. Just need to do a few more.

TF2 has basically become unplayable due to cheaters and Valve is doing nothing about it. Many times you'll see snipers spinning around zoomed in looking at the sky and they do instant headshots even if you come up behind them. So shitty. Really hating Valve because of it. May just delete it for good.

Beyond Good & Evil is getting a Netflix movie

That’s awesome, as it was one of my favorite games of the PS2 era, but damn if it isn’t completely out of the blue.

I still wonder if we’ll ever see that sequel they showed at E3 a few years back. Doubt it, at this point.

Just finished the mission Deathstorm 2, where I need to figure out what was Project Deathstorm. I infiltrated this Italian castle, and faced no less than NINE snipers. I killed 8, but missed one. Guess I never ran into him.

Found a new weapon... The "Neufaust", a multi-barrelled mini-rocket launcher.

The Germans got an upgrade: if they saw you in the open, they'll launch a flare and you'll get hit by mortar fire. That's nasty. Good thing I ran away from last contact as fast as I could. On the other hand, you can capture a flare gun, and use it on them. That's... interesting. Haven't used it, but I did wonder what's a flare gun doing in the inventory. Now I know.

Any way, exterminated the map, 153 kills. Yes, I'm playing on cadet (read: baby mode). Lots of objectives... free our informant, locate the Italian physicist forced to work with the Nazis, locate the research notes hidden in a 3 floor library, kill a lieutenant, lure Valkyrie Squad, a bunch of Elite Jagers that the locals call them "Green Devils", and annihilate them, by first finding the code, then call them in with Nazi radio.

And there were quite a few Nazis and Italians. As I said, kill count is high. I used every mine I have all over the place and I think I had over a dozen mine kills. But NINE snipers in a single mission... Well, at least there were no tanks, just two half-tracks with the Valkyrie Squad.

The ambush didn't quite go as planned. I thought they were already in town, turns out they came out just OUTSIDE the town perimeter. If I had known, I would have dropped something to deal with the half-tracks. But I did plant enough mines on the main stairs coming up to my level. I may have had a lucky throw with the TNT. When one of them finally came up via the stairs, the S-mine set off the TNT, and the chain explosion killed like 5 guys. The rest is just mop up as their officer was killed. Then it's a matter of tossing the TNT to the half-track and toast it, then sneak up the next one, and kill it with a satchel charge.

Deathstorm part 3 will be infiltrating a small German village, and stop the weapon in its tracks.

Argh, this game is a redux of one of the original Sniper Elite missions. And it's a doozy.

Basically, you need to go in, and try to kidnap a couple scientists, wreck the Nazi nuclear reactor, kill the head scientist/general, fight your way back out, through a town of hostiles, wreck the false flag operation (commandoes dressed as Allied soldiers), find a truck and get the heck out of dodge.

The problem is it didn't say what to do with the scientists once you nabbed them, and I knocked out TWO of them. There was no designated stash place. I guess I could have knocked out a third one too, but the objective didn't say to capture him, just his notes.

So while I won (fought my way through 11 snipers), I failed to save the scientists, and I was like... WTF? Where was I supposed to have stashed them?!

EDIT: Turns out, there's a "hay pile" near the exit location you need to drop the scientists into. WTF... How was I supposed to know that? Yes, that was kinda how the original mission was setup, but really?!

Tried Survival in SE4, basically, survive as many waves as I can. The problem is you get extra points for defending the HQ, but if you are alone, then it's extremely difficult not to get rushed. You have less than a minute to 'setup' any mines and whatnot. And every 3 waves, your HQ moves to a different building, meaning any defenses you had setup was for naught. And you have like a dozen enemies at a time... with access to mortars by wave 4. So you can't stay in the open if you get spotted. But if you can find a good chokepoint inside a building, surviving is not a problem. AI's pretty stupid that I stacked a dozen bodies at the bottom of the stairs. Eventually they lost interest and started roaming the outside because they no longer remember where I am, so I have to go outside to find them. On the other hand, leaving one alive, and use that time to frisk all the bodies for full complement of mines seems to be a great use of time. It's also a good way to gain a lot of secondary weapon kills for mastery.

If there is ever a chance to revive the Jedi Knight series, I think Arkane Studios should be given a crack at it. I know it's not likely due to them .belonging to an EA rival, but Dishonored felt very much like a Jedi Knight game at its core, with the powers and all.

Damn! A racing sim gamer won a real race car race.

https://www.bluesnews.com/s/213604/espo ... cing-debut
James Baldwin won the opening race of this season's British GT Championship Series. This was his first professional outing, as competing in the real-world race was part of his prize for winning the World’s Fastest Gamer competition. To be clear this is a team competition where his teammate Michael O'Brien also drove the car, but that doesn't diminish this remarkable achievement.
Bloody amazing.
Last October, Baldwin battled nine other gamers in a 10-day tour from Las Vegas through to California in a series of online and on-track racing tests to earn a real-world racing contract worth more than US$1 million.

The 22-year-old shocked the competition on Saturday when he recorded the fastest qualifying time – only to lose his fastest lap due to a track limits infraction. His second fastest lap was still fast enough to start from fourth on the grid aboard the McLaren 720S GT3 machine run by the team co-owned by 2009 Formula 1 World Champion, Jenson Button.

Baldwin made a strong start from fourth on the grid and spent his 30-minute stint pushing hard for third place. The Jenson Team Rocket RJN team gained a position on the pit stop when Baldwin handed over the McLaren to teammate Michael O'Brien.

Resuming in third spot, O'Brien gained a position on track, and the duo then took the lead when a rival received a penalty forcing them to the pit lane.

Despite a late-race full-course-yellow, O'Brien held the lead to earn him and Baldwin an incredible victory.
Im jelly.

Bought Outcast Second Contact recently. It's a remake of the original game first released in 1999. Kind of an odd title for a remake as it sounds more like the title for a sequel. The original game was voxel-based and you needed a good computer to get much out of it being that it was software based rendering rather than 3d accelerated, but it was a fairly good game for its time, but fairly low resolution. This is one of those games that most benefit from being upgraded. It's gorgeous!

The REALLY weird part is they actually released an "Outcast 1.1" back in 2014, to handle multi-threading and higher resolution. So this is a remake of a remake.

Amen. Back in the day, Outcast was immensely enjoyable and highly immersive.

Not necessarily. The 1.1 version was still basically the same original game with some tweaks for modern computers. Same graphics at a bumped up resolution. Nothing else had been done to the game other than some bug fixes, so that one was little more than a remaster.

This version on the other hand completely reworks it from the ground up as a modern remake and the differences are quite profound.
