Better to remove a mechanic that isn't working well than to ship a badly implemented mechanic.

The dong mechanic in Conan WAS fully functional. I spent hours agonizing over that slider. Too big and I felt like I was bragging, too small though and I was sure that the other players were laughing at me when I would partake of my favorite game activity: butt naked gator wrestling.

...oh...you were talking about wall running Cyberpunk 2077, weren’t you?

If that stuff ain't contained and supported by a good set of briefs, it's only a hindrance.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

If I have this on STEAM, can my wife get this on EPIC and we play together or do we need to both be on the same platform?

Yeah, based on what they've been offering up lately, I wouldn't have expected it either. Pretty crazy, but apparently they're not messing around with freebies.

Or they'll pull it last minute like they did with Conan.

Both upcoming free titles were in my Steam wishlist...whee!!!

Enter the Gundgeon
God's Trigger (though looking at this now, doesn't really look like my type of thing, but I must have had a reason to mark it!)

So we basically lost the epic (no pun intended - lie!) Steam sales that were both fun and full of great deals, and gained Epic GIVING away top quality games on a regular basis. Hmmmm...Epic wins! :D

They're starting to re-offer some games (Into the Breach, Gungeon) but I'm hardly complaining given that I missed a few offers along the way. Good chance to catch up on those.

Railway Empire, I've been postponing buying this game since it came out. Now I can get it and wishlist all the DLC

I never bothered with the DLC. This was close as I've seen to a spiritual successor to RRT but it's market game failed miserably and while the personnel dynamic was interesting, it's crazy micromanagey.

As far as I know, the DLC only adds more geography working parts that are functionally the same as in the basic game. As the game failed to hit the mark, DLC never really is needed.

Still it's a worthwhile game to play, discover, and put away unfinished, especially for free. (I paid full price) It was so close to being the game I wanted. So close but where it failed, it failed bad enough to get put away unfinished.

This is an example of why what Epic is doing may be good business after all.
I never would have even glanced at something like Railroad Empire normally.
Epic gives it for free, I download it because....ya know.....free.
Decide, eh, what the heck, I'll install it and check it out.
Discover that I actually am enjoying it a lot.
I now start backtracking and looking at other similar type games.

I bought with my $10 certificate over Christmas and thought it was terrible but it did inspire me to buy RCT2 again for like $5 and then layer FreeeRCT2(I think?) over it which made it work with Windows 10.
