Frankly, I think I'm just being enormously cheap on this 'YouTube Red' thing and trying to come up with excuses.
On second thought with that defeatist attitude you might not be Cobra Kai material.

Cheap does not exist in this dojo!

I finished season 1 last night. It's a pretty hokey show with some "come on" moments. However, I enjoyed the hell out of it and it makes me wish I saw William Zabka in more things. He's great in Cobra Kai.

They are actively filming season 2 right now. The writers have been posting a ton on FB. So jealous of them sometimes. Seems like such a fun job.

Yeah, I loved the first season and am excited about the second. Best youtoube original show by far (not that I've watched any others but still this ones the best).

Watched the second season and enjoyed it a lot. As with the first season, it has a lot of interesting twists on the core themes of The Karate Kid.

It is a little cheesy at times though, and I do have to keep telling myself that the show is set in an alternate universe where it's a thing that gangs of teenage martial artists fight each other all the time and that's, you know, totally normal.

If you haven't watched this yet, and you have fond memories of the original, this is a must watch. It's pretty incredible how many of the original actors they were able to bring back for this. Obviously Pat Morita isn't there, but they pay him so much tribute he might as well have second or third billing. Great twist on the perspective, love the Cobra Kai Challenger. As mentioned, parts are a bit cheesy, but it's almost like they did it on purpose, channeling the 80's vibe perfectly.

HUGE cliffhanger at the end of Season 2. I can see how this could get UGLY in so many ways.

*Edit* NM they posted it 30 minutes ago. So freaking proud of those guys. Thank god they weren't dicks in HS. :horse:

I'd like to see a season 4 come out of this...but only if season 3 continues portraying the characters as just flawed human beings instead of 2 dimensional hero/villain archetypes.

I can't imagine it will go more that like 2-3 seasons. 3 is probably pushing it as there only so much they can explore. From what they are saying it looks like they are going to look to spin off some stuff. That of course rarely works well, but who knows. Their track records so far has been ridiculous between the White Castle stuff and this.

Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle was written by them. That was their first movie and then the sequels. We didn't have a White Castle ANYWHERE near our town which is kind of how the story originated. We now do have a White Castle and it's terrible.

Hot Tub Time Machine was made by the 3rd writer Josh Heald

So between the 3 of them they have had a crazy good track record for niche 80's type stuff.

Season 2 was not nearly as good as Season 1, but I'm still in all the way for Season 3.

As for that game, I'm not feeling it. Someone needs to get it a body bag.

Introduced the kids to Karate Kid the other day. Watching part 2 now. If memory serves, it gets worse with each sequel. And man, how simple movies were in the 80's :)

Ya I wasn't a huge fan of the second season. I'm not really sure how many more seasons they can drag this out for. I'd say 2-3 tops.

In order for my daughter to fully enjoy Cobra Kai and have a strong cultural foundation she’s watching all the original Karate Kid movies (well at least 1 & 2).

I’m quite proud that she could sing along to Bananarama’s Cruel Summer. Best dad ever!

3 was really bad and can totally be skipped. Even if it starred the Teen Witch as his GF. TOP THAT

I read about it a little while ago. YouTube is moving away from scripted material to unscripted shows (aka shitty reality tv).

Kobra Kai was the only youtube tv I ever watched. I have no interest in any of their unscripted stuff. I still find it odd that they'd get rid of the most popular thing they had on YTV.
