Before Biden can move in though they're going to have to drag Trump out of there. Might have to spray and put down giant traps baited with money. A $5 bill should work.

I think it'd prolly work on me too. I'm broke. Although you'd at least have to throw me a ten to get me to ignore the obvious signs of it being,,, well a big trap.

Context:

Antony J. Blinken, a defender of global alliances and President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s closest foreign policy adviser, is expected to be nominated for secretary of state, a job in which he will try to coalesce skeptical international partners into a new competition with China, according to people close to the process.

Mr. Blinken, 58, a former deputy secretary of state under President Barack Obama, began his career at the State Department during the Clinton administration. His extensive foreign policy credentials are expected to help calm American diplomats and global leaders alike after four years of the Trump administration’s ricocheting strategies and nationalist swaggering.

Mr. Biden is also expected to name another close aide, Jake Sullivan, as national security adviser, according to a person familiar with the process. Mr. Sullivan, 43, succeeded Mr. Blinken as Vice President Biden’s national security adviser, and served as the head of policy planning at the State Department under Hillary Clinton, becoming her closest strategic adviser.

Together, Mr. Blinken and Mr. Sullivan, good friends with a common worldview, have become Mr. Biden’s brain trust and often his voice on foreign policy matters. And they led the attack on President Trump’s use of “America First” as a guiding principle, saying it only isolated the United States and created opportunities and vacuums for its adversaries.

So far the consensus is that every Biden pick is extraordinarily qualified, eminently professional, free of baggage, and a breath of fresh air.

I look forward to the GOP attempting to tie every one of them to Benghazi.

Don't get too excited. What do you think the odds are of a government shutdown or debt ceiling crisis in 2021 / 2022 if McConnell is still majority leader? 80%?

Just when you're ready for a nice peaceful year, more bad shit happens. Like a global geopolitical or environmental catastrophe. I'm thinking large armed conflict somewhere with NBC threats.

There will obviously be crises, likely more than usual in the next couple years. There always are.

Rubio: "How dare Biden nominate competent professionals with qualified backgrounds! THE CHAOS GODS DEMAND CHAOS!!"
Sen. Marco Rubio suggested on Tuesday that he would oppose confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden's national security team, presaging the first sign of potential Senate battles to come if Republicans maintain control of the Senate.

“Biden’s cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attend all the right conferences & will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,” he tweeted. “I support American greatness. And I have no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China.”

If I remember correctly, the POTUS doesn't need Congressional approval, he can just assign temporary staff, leave vacancies, and then forget about approvals. Wasn't that established in 2016?

Rubio (R-Fla.) said Biden’s selections “will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,”
Any bets as to how long it takes Rubio to complaint that the Biden administration is being too aggressive and changing too much and marching us toward "socialism" as part of their role as "polite and orderly caretakers".

I look forward to a world where I never need to hear about people like Rubio or Cruz ever again. I hope it happens soon.

Yeah - I was more thinking that he is so shapeless that 2016 is very different from 2020 and I'm thinking 2012 Rubio is unrecognizable.

Would that ever be in doubt? I expect them lapdog for the Trump family and wait to see if it's OK for them each to make a bid. After verifying they have no spine they will obediently follow The Don, Ivanka, or Don Jr in their bid for a return.

What if they are leaking that Rahm might be getting Transportation as cover for the person they actually intend to pick who might otherwise ruffle some feathers

Admittedly, this trick will become less convincing after they float Rahm for his fifth potential cabinet position. But it could get them pretty far!
