Strange. Are you using one of the Sony headsets? It sounds perfect with mine.

Although one bug my friends and I have experienced after the patch is the inability to maintain guns. It seems to not work at random. Sometimes moving around helps, but not always.

Plugging it into the controller might be the issue. Bluetooth seems to work better on PS4.

So anyone playing RDO can tell me how to get my free holiday coat? It gives you a voucher each for a coat and a rifle. I got my rifle in the gunsmith. It says there or catalog but I could never get it in the handheld catalog so went to the store. I finally got it. But the coat eludes me. Ive tried the catalog, the general store and camp. Nothing. Cant find one the voucher works on and theres only so many. I haven't seen a tailor shop yet but dont see how that would change anything.

Anyone tell me how to get it or what Im missing? The gun used up the gun voucher so I know I must have the right gun...was broke anyways so couldn't have accidentally bought it.

Im loving the snow. Makes it all purdy for the holidays. Also the saloon piano player playing Christmas tunes. I just stand inside listening or just outside in the snowy town as it snows.

There's a tailor in Blackwater and St Denis. Those are the only places. And yes, it does make a difference. Just look through the catalogue at the tailor, which will also allow you to see how it looks like, and browse through them. The ones that will allow the voucher will let you know by letting you press L3 to claim it. Is there a particular coat you're trying to get?

Thank you. Nope no particular one. Just wanted to have a 2nd coat. Im still wearing my free clothes.

Im scared to play much. I shun other players. Can I be attacked in my camp? or in towns? Sometimes my camp is right on a main road with players riding past all the time. If I die to a player do I lose all my stuff?

You should theoretically be safe in your camp as it's designated a safe zone. Note the flag. If the flag is raised, you're protected. If you're doing missions, it will be lowered. I say theoretically, because I've had times where players managed to still kill me by using fire bottles. Another thing you can do is set yourself to defensive mode. Do that by going to the online menu, scroll down until you see online options, select that and scroll down to see which mode you're in. Clicking it will change it. Most of the time, it helps as it lowers the damage you get, but people can still be dicks and attack you unprovoked. A few days ago, for instance, I was riding around St Denis when someone took a shotgun to my face and killed me, so quickly that I hadn't even had time to defend myself. When that happens, an option will usually come up to parley with the offender. That puts them in a timeout against you for 15 min. At this point, they'll usually get bored and leave the session.

Yes, be careful around towns. There will often be gunfights among players who are causing a ruckus, and they'll sometimes attack random players just for kicks. It's best to try to avoid them as much as possible, but sometimes it can't be avoided. There are also settings for your horse, such as who can touch it and your cargo, and you should set it to only yourself for the time being. One of the annoying things is that players can lasso you off your horse and tie you up. But don't worry, you can't lose your stuff. There are hardly any negatives. You just dust yourself off and move on. About the only thing you might lose would be carcasses on your horse, something which can be remedied by buying a trader wagon when you're high enough with that profession. It really helps as you can store anything you've shot in there, up to 5 big carcasses, and between sessions. Normally, if you get disconnected, you'll lose anything on your horse. And speaking of the trader profession, it's the easiest to start with and you can make some pretty good money, especially at later levels.

If I were playing it on PC, I'd join up with you and help you get started. I find it to be a relaxing game. As you level up and get enough gold, you'll have enough to dip your toes into the other roles, ie you're not limited to just one role, which helps with getting more income. The big downside of the PC version though are the modders who have been messing with players in-game. It got so bad at one point, as Rockstar had to intervene after modders were using KKK models to torment players.

It isn't in the regular settings. It's in the in-game menu that pops up on the left side of the screen. I can't recall the default control to open it right now.

I don't see how that'd make a difference, since technically the online and singleplayer are like two completely different components, and it'd be stupid to release a multiplayer-only version without settings.

It's not the main menu. It's a separate menu you access within the actual game. On a controller, it's accessed via tapping left on the d-pad. The same button press you use for the catalogue. Are you playing it with a gamepad on PC?

It isn't a sticky setting. You have to turn it on every time you launch the game.

Yeah, and unfortunately it depends on what you're doing too. I thought that when I started playing early last year, that it would automatically switch back after a mission, but now I'm not so sure. Also, if you're in a posse, the posse leader can override those settings. I always make it a habit of checking to see what it's set at.

About the RDO professions. Can you have more than one at a time? Other than Cribbs I just ran into the naturalist girl and that looks interesting. The rewards seem real nice. But colletor looks fun too. I think if I can only do one Id like Moonshiner because you can have your own bar and such.

Yes, you most definitely can, which I pointed out in one of my earlier replies to you. But the way they open up to you takes a bit of effort, as you first need to make money and gold in order to be able to afford them, and I know that at least one of them is more expensive than the others. As for the Naturalist, it's actually the weakest role so far. There isn't really much to do with it. For me, top three are Trader, Moonshine, Collector. But I find the Collector is more of a passive role than an active one. And by that, I mean, you'll easily find collectibles everywhere, all the time just by feeling their vibrations and then searching them out, but you're not going to want to actively seek them out via a map, because you'll easily burn yourself out that way. It's something you'll accumulate over time and build up your sets, but it can be quite lucrative.

No, you can get some for doing missions. Sure, Rockstar would love everyone to buy gold in the store, but it's not the only way.

RDO. Is it ok to start buying some clothes now? I have about $400. I have the pistol and rifle I started with and they rewarded me with a repeater rifle also. I have just bought a bow and a pump shotgun. So I should be good on weps now right? Is it ok to start getting some clothes so I can stop looking like a hobo? The only clothing thats not starter is the free Xmas coat they gave me with the rifle. Not sure Im supposed to save money for anything. Im worried if a player kills me Ill lose money. Its tough to come by. Figure if I buy clothes they cant strip me right?

Yeah, you should be OK for buying clothes, though you'll initially be limited by what you can afford. Don't worry about losing money when killed. It doesn't work that way. But as you progress, you'll want to save up for more expensive things. Eventually you'll come to find it easier and easier to make money.

Getting hard to find stuff to do. All I really have is stranger missions. Trouble is Im trying to play a good guy but every stranger I go to gives me a bad guy mission. Ive done a couple because its money but I dont want to do more and ruin any rep Im trying to keep good. It doesn't give me a choice..I go to the stranger and it instantly gives me the mission..all bad ones. I cant decline or anything.

Is all I can do is let the mission timer run out?

And how do I find good things to do?

Ride into a town and just start wandering around. You’ll get stranger missions soon enough. In addition, don’t forget to go bounty hunting. That leads to some great side missions. You’ll find bounty posters in most railroad stations.

Don't worry about reputation so much. It's such a negligent factor that you can easily turn around. As for stranger missions, there are characters that give out dishonorable missions and there are some that give out honorable missions. After playing for a bit, you'll start to recognize which ones you want to do and which ones to avoid, as they'll always be the same. To start with, you maybe want to look at doing stranger missions from Alden, Angus, and Hector, located at train stations. They'll offer a variety of missions that are good to start off with, such as deliveries and caravan escorts. Bonnie McFarland and Sadie Adler are good too and offer the same variety. Though it's important to know you can only do one of these from each character for each game day. Do one, then move on to another until the first is available again.

You'll find this list handy.

The online story quests? They can be kind of tough unless you partner up with at least one other person. I don't recommend doing them solo.

Theres no option I see to even try. I always have to party up. All my groupings have been fine until one the other night. Idiot on a mic singing and making fart noise and yelling SKIP! SKIP! during the cutscenes . Im not skipping because I want to see them once. Too bad I cant kick someone :) Thought about shooting him until he left.

On that note...some people make REALLY ugly characters. EEEesssh.

That's why I don't do voice with those I don't know. That's why on PS4, I choose to have it be with friends only. Actually the voice chat in game is not even used as we use the PSN party chat, so anything in game is not even heard.

I've been playing online long enough to know what you were saying was only true of the singleplayer ;) You need licenses for pretty much any of the roles in online, from bounty hunting, to the trader (hunting and making deliveries), moonshine, collector, and naturalist.

But as for the singleplayer game, yeah, there are actually a lot of missions that can be missed, beyond the main story.

P.S: I like the snow. I feel it a refreshing change from the perpetual summer the game is set in.
