Fun phone games?
I’m stuck in the hospital for a few days.
I’m super bored but I have a phone.
I’ve played Marvel Puzzle Quest for years but I want something new to play to help keep me sane.
Any suggestions?
Could be arcade like, strategy, rpg, rogue like.

My older kid recently re-discovered Fallout Shelter. It's held up amazingly well and I re-installed for sanity breaks after watching her play.

gilraen and I have been re-playing this lately. Trying out Survival mode. The main drawback, in this instance, is that there isn't a lot to do early on. It's a lot of waiting.LawBeefaroni wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:36 am My older kid recently re-discovered Fallout Shelter. Hoplite - turn-based "strategy" game. I like it because you can play a level or two and walk away. Lots of different strategies to try. I started off loving ranged combat, but now rarely throw my spear as I figured out different skill combinations.

For iOS gaming, I'd recommend the following:
First and foremost, if you have ever enjoyed playing any Sid Meier Civ games, Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization is an absolutely must. The analogue version is still widely regarded as one of the very best tabletop board games around (e.g. Boardgamegeek currently ranks it as the number 6 best overall game) and the digital version greatly enhances the experience. It also has one of the very best tutorials I've ever played.
Also:
XCOM: Enemy Within
Her Story
Gorogoa

Re: Fun phone games?
I had no idea XCOM on iOS was a thing... hmmm they have XCOM2 as well... Of course I loathe mobile gaming for the most part, but XCOM2!
I have really only gotten into the aforementioned Dream Quest and the very light side scroller Hill Climb Racing, oh and 2048, all as time wasters
The Switch is the actual answer for mobile gaming.

Love You to Bits - really clever puzzler game
Bring You Home - another by the same developer. Not as good but still fun if you liked the previous game
Monument Valley 1 and 2
Polytopia - sort of like a mini Civilization game
Reigns, Reigns:Her Majesty, Reigns: Game of Thrones
10000000 (that's seven zeroes) and its sequel You Must Build a Boat - really addictive match 3 games

I just remembered another one, Hitman Go was a fun puzzler. I could swear I got it for less than $5 but that's what it is listed as now (and I guess I got it on steam).

Re: Fun phone games?
One Deck Dungeon was a good card-based rogue-like
Hearthstone is still my main phone game
There are some good older RPGs that work well (Planescape, BG 1 & 2, etc). They worked great on my iPad but I wouldn't want to play them on smaller sized phone.

Re: Fun phone games?
2048 is a free rip off of Threes!, and its slightly-changed concept doesn't work as well - recommend the original instead
this is one i always recommend

Re: Fun phone games?
For the phone games, you'd really want the PC conversions, NOT the designed for mobile stuff, and the ones you can pay and forget it. A lot of the made-for-mobile stuff that is free to play are obviously teasers to force you to pay up, via tokens, power-ups, and whatnot when they force you to stop playing for some "limited time-based resource" you just exhausted but "you can bypass that by paying $$$" and BUY those directly!
PC conversions like KOTOR1, XCOM, and so on are definitely worthwhile. Of course, they are really designed for tablets, not phones. Though really did have a good time playing Doom mobile, the square-based version. Kinda like factorum and Star Crawler on PC.
Eidos had a good design team and their various "Go" games based on their property like Tomb Raider Go and Hitman Go are pretty good puzzlers.
