I'm not sure what I need to do.

I've been back in my room since I left the ER last night and I've heard from no one from this company. I called to speak with my case manager and she wasn't in this morning. I left a message for someone to call me and I've had no return call.

I have also heard nothing from tele health, who is the workers comp doctor that will release me. I was told yesterday I would have someone work me to get me assessed. Here I am 24 hours later and nothing.

Thank goodness I took myself to the ER last night. But I need answers and don't know how to get them.

I don't have any answers, but this whole thing genuinely pisses me off.

You may be the only one there, but you're not alone.

Update...

This morning I had enough and called my case manager (who had failed to call me after promising to do so).

I pretty much lost my shit with them. I was crying in anger over their lack of compassion and humane assistance they've failed to provide me.

My 10 day quarantine ends tomorrow. However, they told me I still couldn't be released and go home until Tele Health has assessed me and provided a return to work days. I was told Monday it could take 72 hours to here from them. On Wednesday they told me to stay by the phone because they were fitting me in. It's Friday morning and I've heard nothing. Additionally, they are closed on weekends and if they didn't assess me today, Monday would be the earliest. And.... I'd have to pay my hotel room starting Sunday.

That information did not sit well with me. I then told them they need to do whatever it takes to get me an appointment today so I can go back home this weekend.

10 minutes after I hung up, I have an appointment for noon today. Right now I'm feeling very used. It was important to come here to help, and help I did. Best nursing I can remember doing. They paid me handsomely, but the moment I got sick, I was forgotten. Didn't get paid a single dime while in quarantine and no one gave a damn about my health. Glad I took myself to the ER Wednesday night.

And as far as me goes, I feel marginally better. I ate yesterday for the first time in a week. Biggest symptom, or pretty much side effect, is night sweats. I changed clothes 4 or 5 times last night. Miserable doesn't begin to describe. Especially since I'm not allowed to have my clothes laundered, I'm cycling through almost 10 days off dirty/sweaty shirts and shorts.

One would think you'd be able to file workers compensation for an illness contracted on the job.

Is that because you are contract? Shouldn't there be some sort of short term disability? I'm so sorry. :( It's puppies that you should have to deal with that additional stress while contracting the very illness you jumped in the front line to mitigate. I have no good response. Feel better and thank you.

Also, if they're on social media, describing your situation there may induce a more swift and appropriate response. Because negative publicity posted to their social media platform(s) of choice will get noticed in a serious hurry.

If you want to really be a force multiplier, contact news media. Poor treatment of medical staff volunteering their time in another state is newsworthy.

Glad it's moving forward, but the fact that you're being treated this way is pretty gross.

Tele Health just released me. Wife is flying in tonight and we ride at dawn!

16 hours back to Knoxville, so it'll be a multi day trip. But I've never missed being home so much. Can't wait to see my family and dog. Wife said the dog looks out the window everyday for me.

You need to ride with the windows open and masks on. I've also seen it recommended that the passenger sits in the rear, opposite side of the driver as well. I'm repeating recommendations I've seen to reduce transmission risk.

Thank you. Yep, that's our plan. We are renting a mini van to give us a bit more room.

Still haven't decided how long to quarantine myself once I get home. Tomorrow is 10 days since first symptoms. I thinking perhaps another week of quarantine and still wearing a mask at all times in my home for an extended amount of time.

If you were in my state and your scenario was the same, I'd be advising you to remain isolated from all your family members (and pets) for 14 days from the day of symptom onset. This literally means isolating in a different part of your home where you ideally have private access to a bathroom and place to sleep. Food should be left at your door and provided with single-service items you can just toss in a garbage bag that's being used by you while isolated, if possible. No one comes in to change the sheets, get laundry or do anything while you're in there.

After your wife returns home she should be quarantining herself and minimizing contact with anyone else in your home (kids) for 14 days after meeting up with you. She should be monitoring herself for symptoms, but a lack of symptoms doesn't mean she doesn't have it. The only way she could possibly be sure is to get tested after ~6 days from the day she came in contact with you.

It also means she shouldn't be traveling out of the house to get anything - including food. Here, you hopefully have someone that can leave stuff at your front door and/or your state provides assistance if needed (if you don't have local family or friends that can leave food / necessities for you).

Not easy, but that's the advice we give.

I feel ok. Apparently I have pneumonia but I haven’t been using the supplemental oxygen most of the day today because it’s more comfortable. The meds are making me gross and sweaty and clammy and I wish I could shave and shower.

I have heard that I might be released tomorrow after the 5 day Remdesivir treatment concludes but I barely see and doctors I’m trying not to get my hopes up.

I don’t feel like I’m in danger of going into icu though so things aren’t too bad.

I’ve had low grade fever off and on today. I’d like to get over that.

Yes I have Covid. We are on the road and driving 16 hours straight through. Only stopping for gas. I'm riding Driving Miss Daisy style.

I have to get home to continue to recover. I feel being forced to stay in that room was detrimental to my healing.

Good for you!

I made it safely home myself and feel more like I was let out of prison!
Awesome! Now just to get feeling better.

You too buddy. Feels like we were forced into an awful club nobody ever wants to be in.

I already feel so much better. Just the fact I'm in my home and in my bed, watching my own tv has done wonders for my spirits.

My main issue is fatigue and activity tolerance. Just walking back and forth to the bathroom is all I can handle right now. But seeing firsthand how bad it can get, I'm thankful for how I am.

Keep being safe guys. Remember that one of the hallmarks of this disease is that horrific relapse.
