Im guessing, though I hope I'm wrong, that it was the Trevor Bauer exchange we had in this thread. I stayed out of the thread until now.

Yes. I wasn't going public with it, but she asked me to prohibit LawBeefaroni from responding to her based on that discussion (and I believe what she perceived as a pattern from him). I told her that I would pass along her wishes if she desired, but that I wasn't going to enforcing a "no responding to Lorini for one poster" rule, particularly given that the posts in question were not actionable from my viewpoint. She was not satisfied with that, and decided to leave. While I miss her presence and her perspective, I don't believe what she asked me to do was appropriate for the forum. I'm hopeful that she'll come back after a break.

Further discussion should move to the Meta forum so that we can leave this for baseball discussion.

A few innings later…

Feast or famine with their hitting. Nine in one game and blanked for two. They wasted a quality Scherzer start. They'll probably score 15 tomorrow and then lose the last game 2-1.

Oh it's definetly going to go to game 5. And it seriously can go either way. Giants have to start hitting. Defense saved them tonight (and the wind)

Same here. I was predicting Rays win 3-1, and I thought I was being semi-generous to the Red Sox in that prediction (figured *maybe* they would win Eovaldi's start).

Thinking about it, I think a big part of it is that the format (and Cora's solid management) helped make up for the Sox's biggest weakness - their unreliable bullpen, since they could bring in starters instead of their shittiest relievers. Like, there's no way that the Red Sox win Game 3 (where Pivetta threw 4 innings in relief) during the regular season, since those innings would've been pitched by some combination of Ottavino, Martin Perez, Austin Davis, etc.

Plus you know, maybe there's some risk in having game 2 started by someone who is only making their fourth major league start, even if they are really good.

Ya the playoffs heavily favor teams with strong starting rotations. Looking back I can't believe the Mets cocked up the WS against the Royals. Sigh...Then again maybe the Wilpons wouldn't have sold if they won.

The wind definitely went both ways. Both teams had warning track shots get knocked down. Even Longoria's shot was getting shot down if you watch the side angle, but he raked it HARD.

There was also this:

Which was really obvious watching last night. While the outside strike zone was generally consistent (outside being away from the hitter), it was definitely something Scherzer took better advantage of, but there were a couple of really bad calls against the Giants where strikes in the zone were called balls.

Probably not Dodgers fans either, if they are honest. The way this entire season played out with the Dodgers chasing the Giants the entire way, with both teams winning the most games in franchise history (Dodgers tied franchise record), it felt like it would come down to one final game. First to 110 wins goes to the NLCS!

I gotta say I have no idea how the ALCS is going to go. I thought the Red Sox were going to get destroyed by the Rays, and I'm inclined to think that they'll get destroyed by the Astros, but...who knows.

At least the Astros won't have to worry about cheating allegations coming from Boston since Houston shipped off the alleged ring leader former bench coach Alex Cora.

I thought before the playoffs started that any AL team could get hot and have a dominant run to the World Series based on what we'd seen in the regular season. We'll see which of the two hot teams is hotter. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised with a sweep (either way) or a tight back and forth series.

More than any other series, it's a shame that Dodgers - Giants is at the NLDS instead of the NLCS. I expect the winner tonight will be a heavy favorite against the Braves, so just seems like this should be happening next series instead of now.
