My youngest brother is 49 today. The Today Show had a vet on who was a radar operator at Pearl Harbor...he still has the documents he issued when he saw a massive incoming attack...but radar was new technology at the time and wasn't taken seriously,

The dude had a quite a war record, and then spent his career as an appliance salesman at Sears, and is still receiving a pension from that job.

I got trained in radar repair in the army...but they gave my another assignment when I graduated. I worked on the radars and tail guns on the B-52 when I was in the air force.

I want to form a shitty college band named Pearl Harbor just so I can see this headline on the front of the student newspaper.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

And to make everyone feel older....

We are farther from 1980 than 1980 was from WW2.

I do still like the headline that the Onion had for Pearl Harbor in their "Our Dumb Century" book. Unfortunately I can't find a picture of it online, but this was it:
1941: DASTARDLY JAPS ATTACK COLONIALLY OCCUPIED U.S. NON-STATE

FDR: 'We Conquered the Hawaiians First'

French Surrender

I think about that every time I see movies from when I was a kid and they seemed to have tons of working WW2 planes flying around. Sort of like my kids seeing planes from Desert Storm.

How about this, The Blue Max was was made closer to WW1 than to today.
