Fun fact: Back when people still said "thee" and "thou," "you" was plural, presumably because nobody thought of "thouse."
And thee rhymed with three (including the th sound), and thou had that th and rhymed with 'you', ie, 'thoo.'
I suppose if you knew somebody's opening words, yeah. But you'd have to actively try to figure it out. I don't look too closely at the thread until after my attempt for just that reason - after all, there's nothing to see in this thread before you've played.

I agree they prob don't need to be spoilered, as active effort is needed to make much out of the grids. But whether you know their opening or not, seeing a group of grids does provide hints.
I always start with THEIR, see what I can get. Often if I'm not coming up with ideas, take 5 different letters just to eliminate letters, especially if I know where the known letters go.

Missed my first one today playing on Hard.
Wordle 209 X/6
Spoiler:

I didn't realize there was a hard mode. Looks like that just forces you to use confirmed letters in guesses? Like once you know that the word starts with an S or B or what have you all subsequent guesses need to have that letter in the right position?

Yes, once a letter is green, you must have it in that spot in all future guesses. I read quickly and saw that you had to use the clues it gives in all future guesses. I thought that meant if you got a yellow letter, you had to include the yellow letter in the next guess in a new spot (because you already know it can't go there). I was wrong - you just have to use the letter, but you can repeat the wrong spot. I might still do it the harder way, though, to add to the challenge.

Yeah, I don't look here until after I've played for the day since I don't even want to know if other people thought it was hard or easy- that messes with my head.

Yeah, I held myself to that final 'hard' rule... and frankly it forces you to be stuck - or - improve...

I think most of us play hard mode effectively anyway. I only break the hard mode rules by accident.
Yeah, that was why I asked about it initially. I guess it just depends on the way you play and how MUCH you want to "game" it...if that makes sense. I think "hard mode" is a misnomer, but whatevs.
I brought shame upon my family by missing today's word.
Spoiler:
I had the A, N, and Y relatively early, and burned a few guesses to get them in the right spot. Without getting the T or the G I had too many words to choose from that will fit.
That is what makes playing "hard" hard IMO. If you hit three yellow off the bat, you are only looking at like 15 total letters and that's barring duplicates or being able to come up with words where you don't duplicate known bad letters. ( OK maybe that's just me). I've hit three letters on the first try and lost twice now hitting a brick wall of just subbing in letters (not sometimes hoping things that look like they might be word are actually words, If you got dinged for "not a word" I don't think I'd have won but maybe a few times. )
I don't understand "current streak" and "max streak." I've played 8 games. I won 4 of them in 4 tries and the other 4 (including today) in 5 tries. It says my current streak is 3 and max streak is 4.
I really only care about keeping my win percentage at 100, but those streak numbers baffle me.
