Yeah at this point, fuck off. Everybody's tired of hearing it. Looking forward to see how you fare managing your own "country" when you can't even manage your own power grid.

Please do it. I'd even be willing to support a deal to help kick off their economy.

Just think about what losing Texas would do for Congress.

I actually think Beto has a chance of winning in the Texas governor’s race this fall. Abbott is pissing off a lot of folks and the Republican majority is shrinking.

It will never happen.
The GOP would never win another presidential election.

I also think Texas likes to think they would come out of it with their military bases, there is just no way the federal government would let that happen.

Also, I never here about any plans to let US citizens in Texas that don’t want to leave the US, the ability to move and be compensated, etc.

Personally, I’m totally on board the idea.

Oh, they'll get the bases. They'll be empty, but they can move their National Guard right in.

I'm trying to figure out why they want to secede. They've pretty much won the war. The next few years are probably a mop up operation.

Excellent point. I guess the "Biden as The Great and Powerful Satan" messaging worked better than expected, and that's still buzzing around in their heads.

I mean perhaps these idiots lit a wildfire that is going to get even more out of control. Maybe we can't see the fire yet and just the smoke here. That's not super encouraging if true.

Where's that Well bye gif?

I would feel terrible for all those held hostage and hope the vast majority could get an out before Texas became the oil hoarders of the world. Can we start closing off technology and interstate travel and trade now? And sports?

If it was put to a vote of all states, the Blue states might let it happen. But the Red states that would be left without Texas would absolutely vote :: No.

If they could do it more states would follow. The Confederacy would rise again. California might go out on her own too.

I don't disagree. As a union, we've failed. I just hope California grants retroactive citizenship to the native-born. ;)

You’re closer to the truth than you want to be here. We’re actively working on plans to leave because it’s honestly getting scary crazy. Here in Austin we’re at the point where local officials are literally defying the state government. It’s not going to end well.

Seems like there's a lot of excitement for Reconstruction 2.0. I think Texas would try to pull other states and reconstruction goes brr.

Using what map, please? I'll wait while you look up a current red/blue/purple state map.

Things will be more clearly defined when we start to self sort.

best case scenario is after Texas secedes that Mexico then invades and reclaims the territory

The problem with this is that we are a nuclear superpower. If things were to start to go really crazy the rest of the world will be paying attention and likely not in a good or helpful way.

Yeah I'm sorry. I'm just frustrated as hell about all this fucking supreme court nonsense, and everyone's seeming lack of reaction to it.

Here and everywhere else. The editorial pages of nearly every major newspaper and even straight news articles are talking about the excesses of the Supreme Court.

I've been thinking about it and I really do believe the only way to bring this country back from the brink is a new constitution. New constitution, new SC, New house, new leader. Maybe give the parliamentary system a shot?
