Not to be harsh, but - Cars, IMO, is the one Pixar series that can just shut down and be done.

Yeah, one of those series that is straight up made for kids.

Plus, I can't forgive them the awful cover of Life is a Highway from the original movie. The original song is a much better song from a Canadian legend.

It's a series that is for kids, and pretty much only kids (but it plays *really*well there) . If Pixar were still independent, they would likely have killed it a long time ago.

But that is a huge reason why Disney bought Pixar. Wanting franchises to milk.

The first one was my favorite Pixar film when the kids were young. Everything after the original, though - not so much.

When I was a kid, there was a cartoon that very occasionally made it's way to my Saturday Morning Cartoon world. It was one of my favorites (along with the 'world of tomorrow' ones)...

This one was about a taxi cab that had a baby taxi cab, but the little cab wanted to be a hot rod... It's called "One Cab's Family".... There was also an anthropomorphic airplane version of this cartoon (centered on prop vs jets)... I will look for that one too.

To me, this is the cartoon that inspired the mind behind Cars... (perhaps that's even documented somewhere, but it's just my speculation)

here is the cartoon on Vimeo:

edit, and here is the plane one: Little Johnny Jet:

It just might be possible that we are not the target demographic of the Cars series. There is an entire swath of america who thinks NASCAR is entertaining, thats the likely audience.

Of course, but I think it's that starting with Cars, Pixar was making something directly for kids, when in the past there was lots to enjoy out of Pixar movies for young and old. It's a series that is decidedly biased towards a very specific demographic.

I think Pixar tries to make all their films for kids and parents. The original Cars was certainly filled with things intended for the parents to snicker at or notice, etc.

Certainly Mater is a testament to that target audience.

I remember both the taxi car and jet plane cartoons . Loved them.

As for Cars I watched the first two or three. I like them. This looks the same. See nothing wrong with it. Think they'd do better to make a streaming series though.

The first Cars had a huge amount of heart. It was about characters and relationships, not just action or cheap jokes.

That's been completely lost in the sequels.

That is precisely what this is. It's a new streaming series on Disney+

Never said it didn't. But there certainly was more of a bias with this series compared to their other movies.

Even if it was a remake of Doc Hollywood…
