Sony just needs to admit they can't make superhero movies without Marvel Studios. They hire crap writers that just rehash Underworld level stories, and make money simply because they include two dimensional anti-heroes that are all the rage with the kids; but they can't create an emotionally compelling narrative that can exist on its own two legs as a plot driven story. They're cheap fast food...and I'm tired of that taste.

I actually thought it was the villain in this one that came off as completely two-dimensional. There were glimpses of exposition where it's almost like the writers meant to dive more into his motivations for becoming "a bad guy". But if there was more to it, those scenes must have been left on the cutting room floor. Jared Leto has a fantastic screen presence, and he got some decent character development, but the overall story pacing just felt off.

Its als oPG 13. They tried hard for it that video says. I wish in 2022 that super hero movies would stop wuss'n out and do the R.

I get the feeling that Sony believes that their audiences are either too dumb or too impatient (or perhaps both) to understand any nuance or depth to their characters. We've all seen that superhero films CAN be smartly written, or at the very least not insultingly stupid, so I don't understand why Sony can't get past this problem.

As for the rating, I don't think that's the issue. You can create a fully realized and well written story without showing heads being lopped off constantly.

So, as you probably know, they accidentally memed Morbius back into 1,000 theaters and on Friday it made... 85,000 TOTAL. The joke is officially funny again.

I rented it and watched it. I finished it, but only because I was reading on my iPad while doing so. The movie is very forgettable. Sony just needs to quit…or admit they have no clue what to do and partner on all this stuff with Marvel/Disney.

On a more serious note, this movie pissed me off. I loved Morbius as a kid. Along with Ghost Rider, he was one of those characters that would make me shell out 35 cents to read any comic he was feature in (obviously I was a kid during the Great Depression, I know). Yet Sony has the rights to Morbius and can't make a good movie to save their goddamn lives. :x

I feel like it probably says something that Morbius is available for streaming on Amazon instead of on Disney+, with all the other Marvel films.

Yes. And that something is that it's a Sony film.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Last night it was finally morbin' time - it was all I could keep saying in my head every time he appeared.

This was...a weird movie. Matt Smith dance scene. Lots of posturing. It felt like very little actually happened in the movie and it was all a setup for the 2 secret surprise endings. I don't really know anything about the character - I don't have any connection to the comic book(s). I wouldn't say it's the worst Marvel move I've watched (Eternals holds that crown), but it was definitely forgettable.

I like that it took you months to work up the nerve to watch it. What finally tipped the scales? Did a cannabis store open up near you recently or something.

But yeah, this morbin’ piece of morb morbs so hard it’s morbin’ impossible to find anything good about it. Morb Sony for ruining the character.

I'm in a weird spot between shows. I checked my list of shows and movies that I'm behind on and felt like morbin' on a Monday night.

I gave it a try. It was laughably terrible. And, I laughed a lot.

If you're still lookin' for something odd and out there, I really am lovin' Chucky. You can stream season 1 on Shudder and Peackock. It's a SyFy show.

Instead of just being another entry in a long series of disjointed tales of Chucky and his entourage, it embraces all the previous films and makes an attempt to world build on it to an extent I've never seen in a horror franchise beyond The Evil Dead series from a few years ago (may it rest in peace). It's pretty damn great how off beat the show is. And it's freakin' hilarious.

I had zero issues with Morbius.
It was what I expected......a decent popcorn movie.
I have not seen Shazam 2 yet. Probably next week.
