Atomic Heart

Post by Isgrimnur »

Destructoid
Screenshots don't really do Atomic Heart enough justice, but that's perfectly fine when there's a well-put-together trailer to do the heavy lifting. The team at developer Mundfish promises to bring "insanity" to its first-person action/shooter set in an alternate-history sci-fi Soviet Union.

Between the strangely adorable killer robots, the secret-agent protagonist chugging a can of paint, and other double-take-worthy stuff happening in this footage, they're on the right track.
...
Atomic Heart is planned for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this year.

That might be condensed milk, which was (at the time I was living there) a common thing to encounter in cans. Kind of fits with the whole 1970s USSR vibe they've got going.

Kind of Bioshock meets Fallout. With some goofiness thrown in?

I'd probably have preferred a new STALKER, but I'll give it a try.

And gilraen (Lithuanian) loves to eat sweetened condensed milk by the spoonful. :puke-front:

Got a really strong Nier Automata vibe from it as well. Both in the killer robot design, and the general overall weirdness.

Wow, Ok that was different. Looks like fun. Maybe a bit faster paced than Fallout?

It made most of the cool visuals from the first one look like they were just set dressing. Watching the first one again, it looks like an evolution on Bioshock. Of course, I've only played the first Bioshock.

Turn off the motion blur!!

I like what I see in the new trailer. I don't recall the first trailer other than I liked it. So...good enough?

Kind of where I'm at.

I like all the little details. There was a lot that I wanted to stop and take a better look at. I do hope that in the final version you can interact with a lot more things.

from what I have read, I tend to believe this game is just vaporware, despite the compelling visuals.

Looks like it’s an Xbox exclusive now? No mention of PS4/5 on that last title screen.

That’d be a bummer.

I've played the 2nd Bioshock since then. I stand by my former conclusion with the new trailer. And this one actually brings my interest level back up.

It does look interesting. I wonder how the developers are getting around the current general reluctance to do business with Russian companies. Mundfish is based in Moscow, the last I heard.
