RIP Bob McGrath

Post by Isgrimnur »

TMZ
Bob McGrath -- one of the original human stars on 'Sesame Street,' and a longtime staple on the show for years -- has died ... this according to his loved ones.

The actor's family shared the sad news Sunday, writing on his official Facebook page ... "Our father Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family."
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I remember him. He was one of my favourites. He seemed so down to earth and approachable.

Yeah this is sad. I was definitely a Sesame Street kid - I watched it every day when I was little and of course Bob was a favorite.

Same here.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Sesame Street was after my time. I recall watching some of it when my youngest brother was still young (he's 10 years younger than me), but didn't really pay attention to who was who. Still, RIP, that show certainly had an impact on post-boomer generatons.

She was also very good. In a way, Sesame Street, especially in its early days, was way ahead of its time in terms of how progressive it was.

Bob was a big singer on Sesame Street. Even as a child, I struggled with the songs 70’s TV sprinkled into shows. Still not a fan of musicals & theater but give the actors credit for sure!
From what I have read over the years, Bob was a good person who dedicated many years at the Children's Workshop. He is part of the original Sesame Street gang!

A staple of my youth.

When I had kids, I was able to find Christmas Eve on Sesame Street on DVD and we still watch it each year.
