Kona & Kona II

Post by Rumpy »

So, there's this Firewatch style game set in a fictional part of Northern Quebec, and it feels fairly authentic as a French-Canadian experience, and is very slickly produced. You play the role of a detective in the 1970's asked to meet up with someone, who turns out to have been murdered, so then it's your job to explore the town and solve the mystery of why this guy was killed, and you quickly realize that there's some weird supernatural stuff going on. The game has an amazing atmosphere, managing to feel like a nordic noir. You have a truck which is how you get around in the game, and later a snowmobile, and there are elements of survival, ie getting wood for making fires which is also how you save your game, but if you let your temp go down too low, it could be game over. All in all, it's really quite an interesting experience. A bit more involved than Firewatch, I'd say.

And apparently it's done well enough that a sequel is being made.
