Meth=Spice so it's all pretty interchangeable. Heck, he's also channeling Seth Bullock being that he's Marshal of a small settlement.

Started a rewatch of this show on Hulu… damn it’s so good. Totally forgot that Wynn Duffy was introduced in the first season. A couple of Deadwood actors show up in a couple early single episodes too. Looking forward to seeing Margo Martindale again.

Many characters are just so established early in this show, Tim, Art, Rachel, Ava, Arlo, Dewey, and of course the great Walton Goggins. And yes, my wife is enjoying her Raylan. Can’t believe this show only won 2 Emmys.

I'm still ashamed that I didn't make it past season 1. I really should find time to go through it this summer. But I won't.

Well, with the writers strike and the pending SAG-AFTRA one, you might have plenty of reasons to catch up on old shows.

For reference, I was a 20 year DirecTV customer. They didn't even blink when I cancelled. Made the switch to Hulu+Live TV right after the pandemic started and haven't looked back. It's been great. YMMV.

Same. After decades with Comcast, not once did they try to retain me as a customer. I couldn't be happier with T-Mobile Internet. Only drawback is reading about not being able to use Hulu live TV because the IP address changes frequently with these devices so I'm using YouTube TV and it's pretty damn cool how it works with sports (catch up to live thru key plays).

Without reading too much about it or even watching that trailer, I have faith this is going to be awesome. I hope most of the crew is intact and I'm so ready for this ride. Sheesh, I can't believe it's been almost a year since I posted above that we were re-watching the entire series.

I guess it's true that time goes faster as you get older but this is ridiculous.

I think it’s already been established that most of the old crew won’t be in this. Which sucks as I could watch Tim wisecracking to people all day.

Sorry, my bad... I was referring to behind the camera crew. I figured the actors would be limited since I believe it isn't set in Kentucky? Have you read any of Elmore Leonard 's books? Man, I'm so tempted to read more about this but I really want to hold out for a couple more months. I'm sure I can watch the entire season in one sitting since I have four kidneys and have no need for a bathroom break.

We started watching it again from the 1st season. Almost done with that. I have no idea why I stopped it's so good.

Olyphant's actual daughter plays his daughter in this show. That's pretty cool.

Not sure that trailer sold me on much though. While Givens is obviously the star, it was the supporting cast that really made Justified something special. Nothing in that trailer gave me any impressions that would be the case here.

Reserving judgement, but that was kinda meh tbh.

I watched the first episode. It was pretty much all set up to introduce you to the new characters. But it was just good seeing Olyphant back in the Givens character. I really wish he would star in more Westerns, and I don't mean Deadwood, I mean where he is the lead character like Eastwood in the Man with No Name series.

Really loving City Primeval. I had forgotten just how much I enjoy watching Olyphant being unflappable and bad ass.

His daughter is doing a good job too, so far. I was worried she wouldn’t work out, but I think her inexperience as an actress is actually helping her. I actually believe she’s a teenage Givens. She just comes across as genuine.

I am having a really difficult time enjoying this show. I feel I’m so disconnected with these supporting characters and there seems to be no synergy at all with the cast. I don’t find the main antagonist at all interesting and I just count the minutes waiting for Raylan to show up.

It may be the setting, not knowing anything about Detroit, it really seems like it’s shot in Toronto or something.

I do like…
Spoiler:
Sweety and Mansell’s girl (she’s doing a great job), both grab my attention when they’re on screen.
I’m becoming an old crotchety old man like my dad. I don’t have high hopes for the remainder of the season but I will continue to watch and try not to inject MST3K commentary as we watch new episodes.

I’m enjoying the show but I agree that Mansell is the weakest part of the cast. It’s not his acting but compared to the other criminals Raylan has encountered Mansell is rather boring. But everyone else makes up for that hence my enjoyment of the show!

There's no nuance to Mansell. Part of that could be the actor. Walton Goggins is just a phenomenal actor who can pull off being the bad guy but still charming and likable. Mansell is neither charming nor likable and I spend the entire time wondering why Sandy would give him the time of day let alone be willingly wrapped up in his super not obvious plan.

I don't think Boyd Holbrook is a bad actor. He was pretty good in Sandman as the wayward nightmare. But I do agree his character pretty much just exists to rile us up. That's easy. What's hard is creating characters that rile us up...yet still make us sympathetic to them (or at least understand them) a bit from time to time. Mansell is just there for the revenge porn aspect of it. We can't wait to see Raylen smack his bitch ass around.

Sweety on the other hand? Loving that character. He does world weary gangster very well. I can believe he'd been a ruthless bad ass at some point, but that the will to do so has just ebbed out of him over the years.

Mansell is clearly a psychopath and I think the actor is doing a good job of portraying that. He only exists to do whatever he feels like in any given moment without concern for anyone else. He's very similar to the Joker in that sense. But he's not as over the top as the Joker so he makes for a much less interesting villain. He's also not very calculating, his staying out of prison and jail has all come down to luck and not any sort of plan. So he is a much less sophisticated villain than we're used to in this series.

I'm only three episodes in and it's nit grabbing me. Holbrook is fine, but the character isn't that interesting.

And for the love of God, I can't handle watching Olyphant's daughter try to act. She and that character might be enough to turn me off of this show.

I'm 4 episodes in and between the unsophisticated nature of the bad guy and Raylan being the freakin' voice of reason in most situations... I mean is that because he is a dad now and thinks rules matter? I thought the daughter was fine. I am much more interested in Sweety and Carolyn than the rest. I am not 100% if that's what is intended at this point, but it might be.

I tried shifting my expectations, accepting the new story line, giving leeway to acting chops, even counting to ten when something is profoundly stupid. Not a fan of the last season despite being madly in love with Timothy Olyphant.

Yeah I agree. For those struggling to get through it I would say watch it for nothing else than to get to the last episode where they set up the next season. Without spoilers I can say the next one looks like it could be a good return to form.
