My family saw the Bakshi LOTR in the theater when it opened, and I totally remember this detail. So much so that I expected Vigo to stumble and fall in the recent trilogy. Originally I assumed the orc-helmet-kicking thing was an homage.

I had no idea what the song was and for some reason, I thought the book they were referring to was maybe The Fountainhead... which I read first, and then later... just as I started to read Atlas Shrugged - I shrugged and felt I was done reading that crap.

I haven't actually read either The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged, but my vague impression is that they both deal with much the same themes so it's likely that the meme works equally well for either or both of them. The important thing is that Ayn Rand is responsible for the fact that Celine Dionne is back in the spotlight where she belongs.

The meme wouldn't work as well with Fountainhead. Fountainhead is more about individualism, while Atlas Shrugged is more explicitly about laissez-faire capitalism.

I read and enjoyed both books (Fountainhead more so than Atlas Shrugged), but they didn't turn me into a laissez-faire capitalist. I guess I'm not dumb and evil enough.

"Stockton Rush" would be a very fitting name for a character in these books.
