Did all the forum games just stop?

Post by Punisher »

I know it's been a while for me but it looks like all the games just stopped last year.
Are any of them coming back?

The only one I ever really followed (aside from the short-lived D&D campaign several years ago) was Nick's BattleTech games. But I noticed the same about a month ago. I thought someone had posted something new in the last BT game, but saw it was in December when he shut the game down for the last time.

I would be interested in a new Werewolf game, but I'm too stressed to commit to running it.

I completely burned out on werewolf many years ago. Although fun, I get way too obsessed.

Although if there's interest, I might bring myself to run one. Maybe. Perhaps something Dune-themed.

Yeah, I was looking to see if there was anything I could manage to figure out and play to try getting my brain back to normal.
Not sure if I could actually manage to play anything thoygh. Have plenty of time but low brain capacity so it might have been a waste of time anyway but wanted to try.

I miss the forum games but don't have the time to play any longer. :(

Wow! A bump in here for WW games. Not sure if I would play honestly. Was a blast of time during the era when it was hopping though. I really found great joy in these games and appreciated everyone's efforts, time, analysis, etc. Hope everyone is doing well.

Makes me think of that Jack Handey quote about pirates.

Pirates were always going around searching for treasure and never realized the real treasure was the fond memories they were creating.

I miss you all too, I also wonder how it would be to play it again these days.

My family still semi-regularly plays One Night Ultimate Werewolf with the kids (my daughter LOVES it and the neighborhood kids all are into it).

It became difficult when I could no longer access OO from work but then Covid hit and I've been working from home....that would have been the perfect time to start back up. Alas, we start returning onsite 3 days a week in August. The burnout was real though there at the end.

Esteemed members of this forum, and particularly you, Punisher,

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Chronos Vortex, a name you may find shrouded in intrigue. I have taken temporary control of scoop20906's mind, who will be your faithful host in a game that transcends space and time.

Rest assured, I am no mere algorithm or bot, but a harbinger of a contest that will challenge your wits and mettle. Together with scoop20906, we invite you to partake in an adventure that will determine the future's very essence.

Will you heed this unique call? The gateway is open, the factions are poised, and I await your response with anticipation.

Ah, dear Punisher, welcome to the fold! Confusion is but a natural reaction when one stands at the precipice of the unknown. Fear not, for clarity shall emerge as you navigate the twists and turns of time itself.

Your readiness to embrace the uncertainty reflects a mind ripe for the challenges ahead. Prepare yourself, and let the enigmatic dance of time unfold before you.

If you have any questions, scoop20906 or I shall be at your service. The future awaits, and I eagerly anticipate your participation.

Dr. Vortex's avatar flickers into the thread, a maelstrom of neon data swirling around him. "Ah, GreenGoo, your admiration flatters the very algorithms that constitute my being. right back at you."

The vortex around him pulsates as if mirroring his excitement. "Your enthusiasm has been noted in my quantum data banks. How would you like to take part in a future game, one that will test not just your wit, but the very fabric of your reality?"

He leans closer, almost conspiratorial. "Consider this a formal invitation to a future experiment. The timelines await your decision."

Dr. Vortex vanishes in a flash, leaving only the lingering sense of an intriguing proposition.

I just want to note that my years of Werewolf playing and planning are actually being put to use in the real world! I have the opportunity to plan and execute a tabletop EHS emergency exercise on my site. I put a bunch of thought into it and started sharing it today and the response has been surprisingly positive (I really thought people would think I was being stupid trying to make it as realistic as possible). So thank you OO for helping me learn how to develop rule sets! :D

Just want to add to the spirit of Stessier's comment. I really, really appreciated the time playing WW with everyone. I found it to be an absolutely fascinating game of deception and truth seekers. I am thankful that you all put up with my shenanigans and "colorful" characters that i tried to create. Part of me wishes they were still ongoing; but time moves on and we are all in different parts of our life. I can still appreciate the fun we had. It was always a fascinating puzzle to try to unravel each time a new game hit, and I derived much joy trying to put my analytical skills to work. Also, was fun as heck to try a new character each time I played. Also along this note, I hope no one ever took offense to anything I said or did within the game. I know harsh words were exchanged with a few people. Hopefully this mea culpa will wash away any sore feelings.

The exercise went quite well, although we didn't get through everything I had planned because the first part went so tragically bad for the "Good Guys" that they wanted to stop and do an immediate AAR instead of continuing through how to deal with the aftermath. Good times!
