Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
I've realized that as far back as I can remember, I have always had a song stuck in my head on any given day. The song changes every few days, but I believe there are very few times when some song is not hogging the mental bandwidth.
It this the same for you, or is a stuck song an uncommon thing?

Pretty much always unless I"m actively thinking on something else.

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
Always. The ones that I will find myself humming to this day without noticing it are numerous, but there are a few constants:
1) The theme from Cheers
2) The Morrowind main score
3) Whole Wide World (the Cage the Elephant Version)
I will literally catch myself humming one of these out loud or stuck in my head at least once a week.

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
Pretty much. I went through a period of time (months) awhile back in which I woke up with a song playing in my head every single morning. And it was always a different song.
I listen to a LOT of music during the day though so it would be rare if I didn't have something running through my brain constantly. I'm also constantly inserting my pet's names into songs and singing to them. Current favorite "Do you like Mia coladas, and getting caught in the rain?"

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
Yes, I do. I wake with a different song all of the time. Sometimes for songs I've long since otherwise completely forgotten. And then certain actions are associated with certain songs that take over my head.
Gimme two eggs gimme two eggs mister when I am making the oft eaten two eggs for breakfast is a perfect example. That will shoo the wake up song out of my head either for a while or be a place holder until the next song association comes along.

Well, not that song/moment/lyrics - but the general idea.

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
Most of the time, yes. Sometimes it is just a snippit of a guitar riff and I will knock myself out trying to remember what it is from. When I'm not hearing a song, the thought is something like: Now I just need to concentrate, for a moment. Though it is not entirely clear what I should be concentrating on.
I have wondered about how this played out (literally!) in antiquity. Did Renaissance people have Beethoven's Fifth running through their heads? What about cave men? Were they constantly hearing the Ooga Booga Blues?

No, not always. But yea, from time to time.
And I declined to read the previous posts for fear of having something put in my head.

Sort of. I always have music in my head. Sometimes it's a song I've heard, but if it isn't, then my brain is scat singing to me. I probably write twenty songs a day in my head that are forgotten as soon as they're done.

oh yeah, I often do. Some days I wake up with something stupid running through my brain, so I have to go listen to music quick, or specifically force a different song in

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
I'm mostly in the nope camp as the thing I am most often listening to is a sharp ringing tone and at work I am generally focusing on something. In the evening though, when I am relaxing, whatever was playing in the car on the drive home is endlessly running through my brain. Like always whatever I was listening to most recently, nothing specific. Now my listening does tend to be pretty repetitive, generally <Music Artist> Radio on Spotify which doesn't tend to be a very big playlist.

"Moon River" because of the Cedar Cliff High School Marching Band practicing it daily in 1969 or so. The tune is stuck in my head, not the lyrics.

This is a song I've often had stuck in my head. I know far too many of the lyrics, given that they're gibberish. I mean, do Gibbers even listen to music?

When my mind wanders, it sometimes plays music. But I'm usually paying attention to something or other, and my internal voice is either quiet or stays on-topic.

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
Constantly. Typically it’s a snippet or a specific metal riff, but there’s always something playing in my head.
I almost always wake up with a song in my head as well, but those are completely random. Usually to the point of “how the hell did that get in there”? They’re generally songs I haven’t thought about in years or even decades, and typically from artists I don’t even like. Woke up with Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” rattling around the other morning. I hate that song, and doubt I’ve heard it in 20+ years. Why in earth would it be stuck in my head?

I don't always have a song stuck in my head, but when I do, it's always one I like. I'm grateful for the royalty-free background music.

Wow, I feel so much better now knowing that it's not just me. I ALWAYS have a song playing in my head. If I actively concentrate on stopping the music I can, but only for a very short period of time.

I've found that the cure for an annoying stuck song - for me at least - is to actually sit down and listen to the song in question.

Re: Do you ALWAYS have a song stuck in your head?
I do not. I'll have a day here and there where one or a few songs keep getting played over and over in my head but it's not an everyday thing.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

My brain song is oddly upbeat right now, despite my frustrations in dealing with trying to make PC-to-TV-to-soundbar audio work in proper 5.1.
Ba-boppity do bop, do boppity bop ba ba, doo doo bitty wah-ba, zi-doopity bomp. Choo choo bomp zimpity zowpity doo wah, doo bumpity, bumpity, bump!

I don't actually have that song in my head all the time, but it pops in there as soon as someone mentions songs being stuck in your head.

I don't often, but when I do it's there from the moment I wake up.
Most recently, the original theme from 'The Fall Guy' after watching the old video in the TFG movie thread.
'because I'm the unknown stuntman, that made Eastwood look so fine'
Thanks for posting that video YK, really, thanks.

I've learned that if I hear part of a song - but not all of it - before bed, I'll often wake up with it in my head. It's especially true if I only hear a few seconds of it.

Not only that, but it's the worst form of 'song stuck in your head.'
I don't know the tune. I don't know the lyrics. All I remember is part of the refrain.
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
Which means that I have that four-second segment of song playing on a loop inside my brain, over and over.
Get it out!

This is me except it doesn’t have to be before bed. If I don’t finish a song it can get stuck in my head. Finishing the song helps, sometimes I just finish the song in my head and it helps.Blackhawk wrote:I've learned that if I hear part of a song - but not all of it - before bed, I'll often wake up with it in my head. Today's uninvited music was the riff from Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult. Perhaps from seeing the Godzilla thread, though to be fair, it is on my playlist.

Black Sabbath's "Zero the Hero" Together we could do the Black and Blue tour in our heads.
