Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
Apparently there is even a sequel which I was not aware of.
Roddy is not in the sequel though so probably not worth the watch.

Joe Bob Briggs featured Hell Comes to Frogtown on his Shudder show a few years back. The director is...interesting.

Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
They have this on DVD for sale in the lobby of our Alamo Drafthouse but, even though I really like this movie, I just can't bring myself to pay $29 for it.
Worth the $4 rental on Amazon Prime tho.

Negative.
Speaking of Alamo DH, I'm posting this while waiting for The Green Mile to start.....there are four people in the theater.
I overheard the other two folk talking about their Season Pass which means nobody here actually bought a ticket.

I was thinking it looked like him, although I believe it's the wrong actor. But it did lead me to discover that the real Frank Serpico is still alive, which is cool.

There you go, that's all four of the main stars of the movie.
I guarantee you know all of them...maybe you only know the fourth one from one specific, sci-fi movie.

Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
Don't think I ever saw it. That's Stallone, right? A very young Stallone. Since it's not Rocky or Rambo, I don't think I know it.

Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
That's definitely Stallone.
Rocky was 1976 and this was 1981 so still a youngish Stallone in the early part of his career.
Also, everybody shown has been in one (or more) iconic sci-fi movie.

Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
Definitely not BladeRunner.
Note, this movie is NOT a sci-fi movie. Just all of the stars have appeared in iconic sci-fi movies.
So far we have Stallone doing his best Al Pacino and Rutger Hauer playing tourist in NY.
Who are the other two and what sci-fi roles are they known for?
Also, I suppose we should guess the name of this movie too.

Has no one here actually seen Nighthawks? This is very surprising.

Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
It was one of those "under the radar" type flicks. It didn't do well in theaters but got medium to heavy rotation on HBO/Showtime in the '80s.
So Stallone, Rutger Hauer, and Billy Dee Williams were all identified which means the last person, and the only woman in the screen shots, is Persis Khambatta who played Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

I also meant to include Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman) was also in this so it continues the sci-fi connections.

This is the image for the movie's poster, so if this doesn't give it away then you probably haven't seen it.

No.
A few more hints.
The blonde man was a favorite of Daenerys.
In the picture above they are looking at the source of the Nile river.

Also, total aside - but about 'blonde guy' (Iain Glen), that photo up there made me think of how well he could be cast in a redux of Lawrence of Arabia

Re: Name that movie....(possible 56K warning)
The movie is called Mountains of the Moon. It's about Burton and Speke and their search for the source of the Nile.
It's a really good movie, but it flew under most radars.
Someone take it.
