RIP-David Soul

Post by McNutt »

Dead at 80. He was everywhere in the 70s, then, like many actors, poof.

I was about to post something like that. Some do *poof*, but others simply choose to change their focus. I can't blame anyone for choosing to get out of the chaos that is Hollywood fame in order to pursue their art in a less... intense way.

I never really watched much Starsky and Hutch, so my main memory of him was his portrayal of Ben Mears in the (surprisingly good/creepy) TV version Salem's Lot. And, of course as the main villain in Magnum Force.

He even had a hit song, probably in the 70s.

Loved the guy. Grew up on Starski and Hutch. I also remember him in both the Salems Lot movie / mini series and Magnum Force movie of the Dirty Harry movie series.

The poor girl on the radio this morning announced his death, him being part of S&H but then goofed saying says he was in Magnum Force....I dont remember that show. LOL...guess she was young.

But David has been seriously ill for years now. Im surprised he hadn't passed sooner to be honest.

It would have taken you less time and effort to check and confirm that she was right than it took to claim that she was wrong.

P.S. Magnum Force wasn't a TV show, it was a Clint Eastwood "Dirty Harry" film.

His music career was a surprisingly big thing back in that day. Just not my kind of music, so he became irrelevant. Did enjoy Starsky and Hutch, though.

Sry guess I wasn't clear....the radio host girl thought Magnum Force was a tv series and couldn't place it. I myself knew it was a movie and figured she was too young to know it was a movie.

I was responding to what he actually said in the post that I quoted. I apologize for not re-reading the entire thread (or guessing what he meant instead of what he actually typed). :coffee:

You wouldn't have had to read the entire thread. Just the first sentence or two of the post you quoted. :D
