No way this turns out badly for them.

I'm reverse-jinxing it by pointing at the jinx in the room and telling it that everyone sees it - this is the only way to deal with a jinx this strong.

Not directly related to this season, but a great read - In search of the Shanahan Offense
He hasn’t coached football in almost a decade, but the “Shanahan Offense” is used by some of the most potent offenses in the league, including four playoff teams led by guys who learned it directly from Mike: Matt LaFleur in Green Bay, Sean McVay in Los Angeles, Mike McDaniel in Miami, and Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. It works. But what is it? I mean, what characterizes this self-evidently effective way of advancing a football?

Is it the West Coast offense?

The “wide zone” running game?

Do people even know what they mean when they say it?

Shoot, I played in it for six years and I’m not sure how to describe it. We ran all sorts of stuff. We had packages with five wide receivers, and we had packages with none. We did power runs, we did toss plays. We did inside zone, we did play action. We worked the sidelines, we worked the middle of the field. We ran three-step drops, we ran seven-step drops. We ran screen passes and we threw deep. We rolled right, we rolled left, we rolled right and threw back to the left. And if something was working, we’d run the same play four times in a row until they proved they could stop it.

If you lose at home to the Bucs, you jinxed it yourselves. If the Eagles hadn't done a nosedive, the Bucs should have been out by now. There is zero reason to believe the Bucs can beat the Lions, save for a curse.

Texans vs Ravens -- My brain just pointed out to me that these two team names are similar in a weird way. (and that my brain is in a weird way)

Both Six letters...
T and R are separated by one letter in the alphabet.
the e and the a are in swapped positions.
x and v are separated by one letter in the alphabet.
and finally then, they both end with ns.

:shifty:
I should probably be committed.

Unagi wrote: Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:22 pm Chiefs vs Bills ...very divided on this pick
Everybody taking those Chiefs. :)

I obviously desperately hope the Bills win, but with those injuries man...I think I'm seeing something like a 27-17 Chiefs win. The only thing that gives me pause is that for a long stretch here, the only starting QB the Chiefs have been able to beat has been Tua. Every other team offered up backups. Bound to make a team look better than they are.

But those injuries on defense are *brutal*.

One thing that I would like to note is that I see a lot of chatter about the KC/BUF rivalry. Some have even said that BUF has to win this game to even make it a rivalry. To which I say....what?

KC and BUF have played each other 6 times in the Mahomes/Allen era. They are 3-3. But KC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in 2020, when KC was clearly a better team. Since then, the Bills are 3-1 against KC, with the only loss requiring the 13 Seconds miracle by KC. If BUF wins this game, and moves to 4-1 since 2020, and it now includes a playoff game? At that point, as a Bills fan, *I* would have to start asking "What rivalry?".

Go Bills (please).

Edit to add: If KC does win, then I will immediately begin praying for the Allen Curse to continue. Every team that has defeated Josh Allen in the playoffs has immediately lost the following week.

Yeah, I honestly think the Bills have a really good chance of winning this. I don't know if it's justified, but I'm feeling Mahomes on the downswing and Allen on the upswing.

(I'm still picking the Chiefs who will likely benefit most from looser playoff penalty calling :ninja:  )

Purdy was awful in the rain, but delivered late while Love made a massive mistake there (where was the check down? Love had nobody to dump it to on that last play) and GB played great, but Greenlaw saved the Niners.

He still had plenty of time. He could have just tossed it away, but he's a rookie so have to cut him some slack. I mean their kicker very well might have missed again.

man the niner game was way too close. Greenbay had us at every faucet of the game but they couldn't seperate. Niners will lose next week or the superbowl if they play like that. I hope Deebo comes back soon. Niners are a total different team without him.

And Ambry Thomas. Get your shit together, you cost us 10 points.

The Bolts are favored to land Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh as their 18th head coach in franchise history.

Next week should be fun. Was hoping for Bucs simply for a easier road to Superbowl. Lions will give us a challenge but still beatable.

If niners do lose I will be rooting for the Lions to win it all.

No idea why Allen went for the end zone on 2nd down. Even if they got the TD, KC had plenty of time to go down and take the lead again. He had Diggs open for a short gain that could’ve been a first down.

If he hadn't been hit he probably would have made that throw. I know Diggs was open, but he had a clear shot at the end zone.

This. First downs. Then TD. Scoring at 1:55 is a loss. Instead you throw two incomplete passes to preserve KC timeouts. And then shank the FG. Oh well. I’m used to it.

He has proven he only needs 13 seconds.

There’s no guarantee that the Bills would have converted anything if he went short to Diggs on that 2nd down play, but their odds would have gone up dramatically. For keeping the drive going, FG chances by being closer and taking more time off the clock.

if you have someone wide open in the endzone you take it but it wasn't the easiest throw of all the options...

Was hoping for a Lions-Bills matchup so at least 1 of the teams would get the monkey off their back. Now have to pull for the Lions.
