Agreed. Just call it a limited early access demo.
It's definitely not what i would expect from open beta.

I see them as part marketing demo and part stress testing for the servers.

Yeah, they're probably banking on people pre-ordering and getting to play it 'early' given how long the game has been delayed. Kind of surprised it actually released, but I guess Ubisoft had lots invested in it.

But I'd be very curious to see a writeup about of the changes the game has undergone over the years, starting with when it was originally proposed as a Black Flag spinoff.

Launch and Early Access schedule. Since I have Ubisoft+ I guess I'll be giving it a try.

So I played for 44 minutes this afternoon. It might be appealing to some folks but it isn't my mug of grog. At least it ran fine and there were no lags or glitches.
